I enjoy Tau, a lot, but before dropping an eventual $G into it, I'd wanna know if there's anything more to invest into, something that'd set me up for a successful future

Pls and ty!

Most competitive shooters are eldar. most competitive "endurace" are codex marines.

However, tau are not far behind at all, and would do just fine in a competitive scene. (naturally assuming you build a good tau army, and not run a mash of nonsense)

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

A lot of armies can be quite good at shooting and competitive is a very broad term. I am not exactly sure what your asking though. Are you wanting to know what other viable shooting armies are out there or if there are shooting armies that are stronger than Tau?

Tau will always be THE shooting army. Eldar currently outshoot them, but there is no guarantee that their codex will remain as OP as it is.

It would be a pretty substantial nerf to knock them off the pedestal, but it could happen. Fifth ed Grey Knights wasn't that long ago.

Tau may not be top dog but I doubt GW would be able to nerf them all the way to the bottom, and they'll always have guns.

Tau are probably the most shooting focused and have the most firepower in their army. Other shooting armies might not pack as much of a ranged punch but have other assets that augment them to make them just as if not more effective than Tau at winning the game.

What I wonder is what is your goal for your army? Are you trying to play in tournaments or play at your local gaming club/store? Also how you feel about your army is very important to how to enjoy the hobby. Pick what will be fun to play and what best matches the experience you are trying to achieve with the hobby.

I see Aun'Va being the Bernie Sanders of the Tau (lol) and broke off from the Council, in search of Hope in a dying universe - that no answers could be found in a rather long lifetime of politics, so search elsewhere for chance.

So - a beleaguered but enduring fleet is with him, vagabonds of the Tau society. Worn suits, busted up like dbz warriors after a good thrashing.

Bjorn of the Space Wolves makes a step towards aiding in this pursuit, seeing the determination and direction of the incredibly wise Aun'Va is already heading. (Combined CC and Dakka detachments)

I'm wanting both sides of the coin that is 7th ed 40k.

I enjoy tau more than eldar, that's for sure. 3rd Ed eldar on the otherhand were amazing!

I would argue that Orks could potentially be. They just can't hit a barn door with a shovel but they have Dakka. Lots of Dakka. Problem is the codex lets them down.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

They'll likely get a buff, things being as they are

All good armies are shooting armies. Just look up tournament results and rejoice or weep.

This also helps to value comments like "orks are da best at being a shooty competitive army" .

Daemons and KDK aren't really shooting focused and they do quite well.

Those are the only exceptions and quite well isn't as good as have been on the top for years in a row.

Buddy, everyone has opinions. You at least respect that whether you agree or not.

Daemons have remained strong thanks to Summoning, while Khornekin are simply incredibly boring at competitive levels... (ie: spam as many Gorepacks as pts allow, add in D-Thirster + Be'lakor for guaranteed Invis)

Tau, Eldar & Vanilla Marines at least allow for some decent variation in their lists in purely competitive, "winning as efficiently as possible" style play. (even if Marine variation is basically just the various flavours of Chapter Tactics...)

Is anything at all not incredibly boring at high competitive levels?

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.
