Making some adjustments to my army. With a heavy head, I have decided to remove my Lascannon Devastators. I am replacing them with two Rapier Quad Mortars. I also removed my Stormtalons as they are now worthless in terms of AA. They have been replaced by a squad of Stalker tanks, because screw Jink. This is what I have so far.

Combined Arms Detachment

Pedro Kantor - 185 pts (goes with Honour Guard in Drop Pod)
Librarian - ML2, Bones of Osrak(goes with Pedro and Honour Guard in Drop Pod, likely will roll on Divination for Invisibility)

Elites
Sternguard Veteran Squad (+5 Veterans, 5x Combi-Melta, Melta Bombs, Drop Pod) - 310 pts

Looks like a lot of fun to run. Only thing I would do differently is take the Hunter/Stalker combo formation instead of 3 stalkers.

What drove you to make the change? Whats been your experience with the lascannon devs?

They have a tendency to die before they can really get much done. They don't throw enough shots down field to make them worth 150 pts.

I have a similar list -- it's just rare that i can get Pedro and honor guard into CC... people run from them like the plague and they're soooo slow. Do you have the same experience?

Kind of. I used to run a Land Raider Crusader so they had some wheels to take them places, but that was a lot of points and it still meant they didn't get into combat until turn two. They do work as a fairly expensive bubble of "Stay the F away from this area" since if something is in charge range, unless it is a Wraithknight, it is going to die.

Something tells me that this is a mistake. In my last game I exploded Triarch Stalker with my Crimson Fists DEV on first turn. But it depends how you play them thou.
