Looks good - An updating of the original, which I v much enjoyed.
We are very proud and excited to announce our newest boardgame – The Battle of Britain by Richard Borg, a remastering and upgrading of the classic, much loved old TSR classic.
Designed by Richard Borg, the highly acclaimed designer of Memoir 44, Battle Cry and The Great War (amongst others!), this upgraded version takes all the brilliant mechanics and features of the original game and adds new features to give an even more exciting and satisfying gaming experience, including new streamlined dogfighting and fuel rules, ace fighter squadrons and the ability to play shorter scenarios in 1-2 hours or the full campaign game in 3-4 hours.
Take command of RAF Fighter Command, marshalling your too few fighter squadrons to protect your homeland’s cities, industrial resources, airfields and vital radar chain against the waves of Luftwaffe bombers intent on destroying them and the swarms of fighters intent on shooting the RAF out of the sky. Is that bomber attack a feint or is it the main effort? Are they heading for London or Tangmere airfield? Can you thwart the Luftwaffe’s bombing missions, tear the heart out of their bomber and fighter squadrons and survive long enough to win the game?
Take command of Luftflotte 2 and 3 in Northern France and Luftlotte 5 in Norway and use your numerous bomber squadrons, protected by your numerous fighter squadrons, to complete a number of specific bombing missions to win the game. But don’t be fooled by your starting strength! Your losses will not be replaced as the Spitfires and Hurricanes carve holes in your ranks. Your medium bombers are not really suited to mass strategic bombing and will struggle to complete their missions. Your fighter squadrons, although mainly composed of the excellent Messerschmidt 109, will struggle with fuel, not having the range and endurance to protect your bombers properly.
In addition, the Plastic Soldier Company has added its plastic miniature expertise to create some fantastic little 1/300th scale plastic airplane models. The base game will have 12 Spitfire fighter models and 7 Heinkel 111 bomber models but we are hoping all you lovely Kickstarter backers will propel us past an exciting ladder of stretch goals to add Hurricanes, Dornier 17s, Junkers 88s, Stukas, Bf 109s, Bf 110s and even Blenheims and Defiants! Some of these will replace Heinkels and Spitfires to give more variety whilst others will be additions to the respective air fleets, and some (Stukas, Blenheims, Defiants and even the venerable Gloster Gladiator) will be Kickstarter exclusives.
Pledge now on Kickstarter and help bring this fantastic new game to life!
Stretch Goals met:

I've backed it and taken the opportunity to get Hold the Line at 25% off too. Can't really resist these new wargames. The guy from PSC is very enterprising, they've been prolific over the last couple of years and the standard is high. Good to see!
The stretch goals have been revised down and re-ordered a bit due to popular demand, which is pretty cool.

I thought about backing it.
My lad loves Battle of Britain stuff... in particular Spitfires and his all time favourite plane, the Heinkel 111. (You should have seen his face when we saw a real 111 at Hendon RAF museum)
As more people back it, more of the models he likes best are being removed.
I hate the way stuff is taken and replaced rather than added to. Stopped me bothering. Sorry.

Currently most played: Silent Death, Xenos Rampant, Mars Code Aurora and Battletech.
I tried dabbling with 40k9/10 again and tried AoS3 - Nice models, naff games, but I'm enjoying HH2 and loving Battletech Classic and Alpha Strike. |

Clearly they've decided on X number of German and British planes being in the final box, and the SG are paying for additional tooling for the other planes.
It would have been a (reasonably) simple matter for KS backers to get the additional aircraft as "extras", but I guess it's even easier to just ship the completed boxes out without a baggie of extra planes on the side...

They might have calculated that they can have that many planes in the box in order to sell it that their target price, the end goal is obviously a game with a variety of planes, but instead of setting a high goal that might not be reachable they started with only having 2 planes thus only 2 molds which would let the starting goal be reachable.

The game itself looks interesting, I'm just dubious about backing; it just doesn't grab me for some reason. Maybe my mind will change before the end of the campaign, but I can't help but echo the earlier posters that the substitution makes it feel like it's "less cool" as the funding goes up. I understand the fiscal realities mentioned, but I can't help if it would have generated more excitement to do the substitution for the retail box, but add the models to what the KS backers are getting and a side baggie. Minorly more complicated shipping, but a negligible increase in manufacturing and likely would have helped bring in at least a few more backers.
Still time to throw that in as a stretch goal I suppose, but it's odd that they didn't consider that most people don't like having something taken away from them even when it is something they never actually had in their possession to begin with; the mind is funny that way.

If you need seven He 111's and you only get two, something is up with the game. If these are just tokens, twelves RAF and seven Luftwaffe, then I will be disappointed.
I would like the miniatures to mean what they are. Got an He111 model on the table it means there is a formation of He111s there, not just some random Axis flyboys.

yeah, I do feel this is what we are dealing with. Just markers to indicate something in the air in that area. They have lots of ally and axis cards and I think these will track squadron strength. Can't decide but i think i might have prefered it while it was 12 spitfires and 7 HE111 If the model used doesn't have any implied information on the squadron. I'm still keeping my pledge as the game concept looks great, and I had loads of fun painting up Bombers Over Da Sulphur River recently Has anyone played the original game?? or got a link to a youtube playthrough? I played the original when I was a child. I honestly can't remember much about it quality wise as I've not played it in years but as a child I loved it. Had a look at my copy and it's got a bunch of plastic Spitfires and 109s.

Well, they'd just be radar contacts until you got them recognized anyway, which probably wouldnt happen until they were over land, so it wouldn't make that much sense to design it that way.

Will from PSC games here
Sorry guys - only just found this thread - ive been flogging a different thread
It would be cheaper and easier to just produce Heinkels and Spitfires but I thought it would be really cool to have all the extra aircraft types as well - most of them in the base game. Having a Kickstarter unlock all these different types was a good idea, I thought!
For mold and quantity balancing 2s are best for the Luftwaffe. If all stretch goals are unlocked the Luftwaffe will end up with 2 each of Heinkel 111, Ju 88, Do 17, Bf 109, Bf 110 in plastic (and will be in retail version of the game) and one each of Stuka, Blenheim, Defiant and Gloster Gladiator in plastic resin which will be KS exclusives
The RAF will get 6 Spitfires and 6 Hurricanes, all in plastic
Without the stretch goals the game has 19 plastic models in 2 aircraft types, with all the stretch goals unlocked the game will have 22 plastic models in 7 types. KS backers will also get an extra 4 models, 4 different types as above

Bf 110s Stretch Goal unlocked!
Wahoo! Got my Bf 110s - thanks you lovely backers!! Just to remind everyone, these are 2 additional Bf 110 models, not replacements for Heinkel 111s
Due to popular demand, I've brought the mini croupier sticks back up the stretch goal ladder to GBP 46,000.
I'm amazed - I thought people would prefer to get extra plane models before the croupier sticks! Pah, what do I know?
Cheers

I do agree with you on that. I'm glad it funded, but with more planes in any interesting number essentially being add-ons along with the usual array of KS risks (delays, etc) and unexciting exclusive content, I'm happy enough to pass for now take another look at it once it hits retail, if I remember it then. Automatically Appended Next Post: Slinky wrote:Croupier sticks are unlocked, next up is the KS exclusive Stuka!
if the Stuka sculpt is KS exclusive, that's just silly to sculpt, tool and produce it for the KS only. This is not Zombicide.

Great news!
I have found a cheaper manufacturer for the oversize game board play mats and think it is only fair to pass the saving onto you backers, so I have reduced the oversize mat price to GBP 29.95.
If you have already pledged GBP 45 for one, please feel free to adjust your pledge level again. Please feel freer to not adjust and just make up the difference in add on planes, stands and decals! We don’t want to see the total go down!
