SO I started playing mid MkII and play mostly Khador, I have a little protectorate, and a few mercs. Warmachine is my secondary game, meaning I play mostly 40k. That being said I have been trying to find out what is going on with MKIII cards. Am I going to have to buy the entire merc and minion decks to field the 3-4 solos I do have? Or am I missing a way to obtain those specific upgraded cards?

You are stuck at the moment if you only use the paper cards. However, you can buy the decks in War Room for a fairly reasonable price and they will be automatically updated with any errata.

That is what I thought. It will probably be my cheapest way out as of now.

When MkII came out I remember my FLGS received a ton of MKII cards from privateer press, to replace the cards in the blisters on the shelves with. I wonder if this will be the case again, because I was able to purchase extra individual cards they had for very cheap.

You could order single cards from PP website during mk2 so my guess is they will be soon for sale

If a model was errata'd they'll be pdfs soon.

Also, the faction decks come with a few mercs/minions.

Last but not least, maybe try trading with someone who got the merc deck but doesn't use those cards.

Just some ideas to add to others. I do agree that they will probably sell individual cards soon.

I can confirm that at least one store I go to got a big box of duplicate cards for Mk3. I bought a Mercenaries dude and he gave me the Mk3 card to go with it.

Also, fun fact... the Mercenaries deck comes with all the Minions cards that can be taken by Warmachine Factions. The Minions deck comes with all the Mercenaries cards that can be taken by Hordes Factions. In other words, unless you play both Hordes and Warmachine, there is no reason to buy both decks.
