I've not seen a Space Wolf list in a little while, so wanted to shout out to SW players of what kind of success they've had, and of the similar units/builds we've been coming up with recently.

• Wulfen:
- a couple SS/TH
- Some i5 hits, all AP2

TWC:
- a few SS
- power weapons
- typically accompanied with an IC of some sort

• Wyrdstorm Brotherhood:
- typically a ML2 with Helm
- typically on Bikes
- typically going for Living Lightning, tho the new Psyker powers are amazing

WGBL/Lord on TW:
- with Krakenbone Sword if from CotGW
- with SS, and awesome Armour

• Iron Priest on TW:
- with Cyberwolves
- thrown into squads

These seem to be the primarily used concepts, tho there are others as well like Long Fangs and Dreadnoughts.

I was wondering, how has this been working out for everyone?
anyone have awesome new concepts they've discovered?
anyone have any problems in lists they're facing?

Thanks.

'Spose as an honorary mention (or something) people have also used:

• Grey Hunters
• Blood Claws
• Terminators
• Long Fangs
• Dreadnoughts

Hey MekLen! I've been running a Company of the Great Wolf, Murderpack, Wyrdstorm and the Sky Hammer Annihilation Force. See below.

Company of the Great Wolf - WGBL w/Krakenbone along with 4 or 5 TWC.
Murderpack - 2 SS/TH 3 Frost Claws in each Pack.
Wyrdstorm - 2 RP Mastery Level 2 going after Prescience/Endurance to tag along with the Wulfen.
Skyhammer - 2 Squads of Assault Marines (bare) 2 squads of Devs 4xGrav Cannon/Amp

It basically allows me to delete whatever I want off the table in turn 1 or 2 with 40 rerollable grav hits and then rerolling failed wounds. If my opponent lets them stand there, another 40 shots going at something else next turn, all the while the TWC/Wulfen are moving across the table.

It's worked for me so far.

Yeah...

To deliver undeniably amazing 7th ed shooting, ignore-at-your-peril w/ the skyhammer.

Then by turn 2 the SW have reached their distances for 2nd turn assault, also undeniably effective.

Uses the best SW offer, with some of the best SM have to offer.

Nice. Well, not really, but yeah

Hopefully some others chime in with some new effective ideas!

Some ideas for units using Codex:SW/Champions of Fenris Supplement Detachment and CotW Supplement Formations:

UNIT 1
HQ: Canis(Warlord) 185pt
Detachment: Wolfkin Alphapack (CotW) x30 240pt
= Outflanking, Monster Hunting Unit(wolfkin) with 120(alphapack) re-rollable(Canis) S5(saga of wolfkin) attacks on the charge (plus Canis' attacks). This has the potential to erase powerful, similarly costed units (10x TH/SS TDA for example) before they can say anything about it.

UNIT 2
HQ: Iron Priest 75pt + Tempest Hammer 5pt + TWMount 50pt + Digi weapons 10pt 140pt
Detachment: Wolfkin Alphapack (CotW) x30 (inc. 2x Cyber Wolves) 260pt
= Outflanking, Monster Hunting Unit(wolfkin) with 122(alphapack inc. 2x cw) S5 (if within 12" of Canis) attacks on the charge. Themed around hunting the enemy warlord. Charge a unit, absorb wounds with cheap, 8pt fen wolves, accept challenges with cyber wolves to protect iron priest for a round of combat (or 2 if necessary), dish out so many wounds with fen wolves that only warlord is left to accept the 5x I1 S10 AP2 tempest hammer attacks from IP. With a bit of luck you will instant kill or helfrost the warlord.

Any of you guys been rocking the Iron Wolves lately? They really sure up some Space Wolf weaknesses.

Crazy as it sounds suicidal vehicles can really cut down on enemy infantry.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

In an expendable form of stratgy, I whole-heartedly agree! There's real power in 50+ models getting into CC with everything on the opponents side of the table, reinforced by IC's.

I am quite fond of the Iron Priests, too. I'd go two or three of them, personally. I am also fond of the amazing options possible for Iron Priests w/ a Cyberwolf, each joining a unit of FenWolves, coming in off the outflank wherever you wish and as far back on the table as you want.

Definitely good stuff ima have to try for myself, thankz!

I agree!
A Razorback w/ Blood Claws and a Rune Preist is the three units needed to score Line Breaker, for example; move 42" + d6 run turn 2 lol

Also, having a bit of msu can help with objectives later in the game, whereas standard SW lists go Elite'ist w/ the few and brutal units. Nice to have a backfield.

I've done a footslogging 15 man bloodclaw squad with ulrik in a game before, wasn't amazing but I had fun with it. But probably because my opponent was orks

On the competitve side, the triple dreadnought formation in CotGW in drop pods can be pretty devastating, especially now that our dreads have 5 attacks with the shield combo. (Always go for the shield combo, you will need it against the fire power you'll face turn 1/2.)

I believe you do gotta footslog the formation, can't pod them if they are in a formation.

devastating tho, yes for sure. I've been considering have the formation with blizzard shield dreads, and run them up field. Shots must go through 6 HP of 3+ saves to reach Bjorn

If need be, use a vindicate or a one thing equally high threat and move that forwards to take the fire away from the formation, then turn 2 they should be in perpetual CC range.
