I have used Wayland periodically over the years but they generally took so long to dispatch my stuff that eventually I only ordered relatively obscure things that I couldn't easily find elsewhere.

They have DZC for 20% off and as the stuff I wanted was marked as instock so I thought I would order what I needed and hope for the best. I ordered this morning before I left for work and a courier picked my stuff up this afternoon for delivery tomorrow.

Next day delivery is something that I would never expect from the Wayland of old.

I used to use Wayland, but they never seemed to have anything in stock on a regular basis. So I swapped to Element Games and I will plug them extremely. Good prices, great selection, sales and super fast delivery. Usually next day if you order early enough.

They had less in stock than Wayland and they were only 10% off

Really? Because they're 20% off now and have the physical stock value of the items next to their order buttons. and they usually have a dispatch date if an items out of stock for when they can send it. much better store in my opinion.

Definitely still 10% and they didn't have what I was looking for in stock anyway.

I stopped using their website due to a number of unsatisfactory delays, but I purchased something recently from their ebay store and received the item the next day.

If only their website offered the same great service...

I wouldn't say improved...
I ordered some paints off them early August and still waiting for stock to come in...

I've got a similar problem at element...
Ordered some scenery that said expected dispatch 5th August - now showing expected dispatch 18th....

Thankfully I'm not in a rush for either. Though I could do with my Element order before month end

Hmm always unsure whether to post in these sorts of threads. As it often will look like i am making excuses. It is however hard to read individuals wish our demise.

As we have grown, and we have never stopped grown, we have changed beyond all recognition of how we started out. We never started with plans to become the largest retailer of hobby products, it just happened, well with a lot of effort.

We continuously changed how we did things, constantly evolving, taking note of customer complaints, never being complacent.

New website has helped massively, you can check things in the your account section of the website that will show you if an item is holding up your order as an example with loads of other changes that should help. We have a proper customer support team, they are pretty good. Of course mistakes happen but I think we are pretty good at solving issues.

Our sales have doubled over last 18 months, that means our stock holding has increased generally to match. We are much smarter at what we hold now than we were. But this industry can have supply issues, sometimes products can be unavailable for ages without the best efforts , being unable to obtain information for their return. Sometimes suppliers seem to vanish and then reappear.

It isn't some conspiracy on our part. Our business relies totally on as many people as possible getting their stuff as quickly as possible. I know that sounds simple... I wish it was.

We send a huge proportion of orders one the same day they are placed, we tend not to make a song and dance about it. The website is pretty clear about what is in stock and generally if it says its in stock it is. And it will generally ship that day.

I do not have meetings to see how we can p1ss customers off. I do however have lots of conversations as to how to make things better for customers and the service better.

BTW you can get a free bolt action rulebook if you spend £50 on our store at the moment. the code is on the site And look our for more free rulebooks in the coming weeks.

I had an issue last night where when the time came to put in my county, the system physically didn't have the option for Middlesex. I got a response this morning though, which is about five times faster than Wayland has responded to issues in the past.

No idea if that's indicative of a greater trend or not, but it's good for me!

Plenty of other stores out there guys, no need to buy from one that treats you like garbage, and might happen to treat 1-2 others in a standard manner.

Well I ordered some stuff that was in stock at the start of the week, as well as 4 items that needed to be ordered in.

By the next day it was all listed as "In stock and allocated to your order".

A week later and it still is.

I've visited Element Games a number of times in person. Its an excellent store and club. Not dealt with Wayland though so won't comment on them.

I'd like them a lot more if they weren't planning to set up stores in places that have established FLGS, then run them out of business with their bigger discount

Can happily echo the comments about Element Games, if you ever get a chance to pop in they are great guys and very helpful.

As far as Wayland goes I think the key is that they are not trying to in any way give poor service, the fact that they have seen such astounding growth is always going to throw up more than a few niggles

I have not had an issue with Wayland Games for the small number of times I have ordered from them. Never encountered a note about item being out of stock that was marked as in-stock when I ordered. Shipping was pretty quick on my most recent order in June.

On element games, I've never had a problem and even when there was an issue it's been dealt with swiftly.

On Wayland Games, I sent a ticket earlier asking about it and they did respond swiftly today. We'll see how it turns out.

I ordered from them as a "test" a couple of weeks ago (what a time to buy SMs with Deathwatch soon after :( ). Bought stuff there years ago when the pound was lower still. Neutral experience back, not faster or slower than Maelstrom was.

One item wasn't in stock, which I knew, but it was from Malifaux so I figured it'd be restocked soon-ish. It wasn't. I got email notifications about my order status and after some time sent them a message if I could replace the kit with something of the same price so I wouldn't have to cancel, re-order, get money back from the UK and wire it back again. Got a nice response the same day detailing the flaw in my plan: It's Gencon (and I know Wyrd is always selling (out) on their own site and at the con), so there's a longer wait for stock around Gencon. Sent my stuff out and the missing kit will be sent seperatly later at no cost. I thanked him and got another mail from another rep thanking me for my kind words.

So I got stuff way cheaper than domestically, free shipping (twice!), a free Bolt Action rulebook, had an "issue" resolved in my favour and nice reps. I'd say if the boat with my stuff on it doesn't sink I'll gladly order from them again If the pound stays down probably everything I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks for, which is most stuff I buy.

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

I've not had trouble with my orders. I've bought both in stock items which came quickly and out of stock items which have taken the full 2 week estimate. I thought it was worth the wait for the price.

Well it's now been dispatched with 1 day delivery which is nice of them.

With the pound falling, a number of friends and myself have made very considerable use of Wayland lately. For my part, I have ordered about 500 GBP of merchandise from them since June. Some of the items have taken about a month to restock but Wayland had clear comms about this throughout. IME American gamers seem to have higher expectations when it comes to customer service than our British cousins so I am surprised that, for once, I am the one defending a British firm.

I too have ordered several times since the pound got nuked, and have had exemplary service from them. They have even partially shipped several orders that were waiting on bizarre stock (one order, Frostgrave spell cards) with the intention to ship the remaining items for free when they come in.

I often feel that these threads are down to the certain customers/users in question.

I write a lot of software - and the number one rule is that if there's a clear indicator of what a user is supposed to do - the user will not do it. If there is text they must read - the user will not read it. If it is impossible to break an interface - the user will break it.

I'm not sure how Wayland's site can be any clearer when it comes to ordering. Each item clearly shows how many they have in stock, or whether it needs to be ordered. Even if items that were out of stock were flashing "NO STOCK" in bright red and physically shocked users when they added them to their cart, there would still be user complaints that their order hasn't arrived, due to a fundamental misunderstanding of what "Available to order" means versus "5 in stock".

I order from them regularly, I visit when I can, both their main store in Hockley and the newer one in Southend. I think they do a decent job all round but in truth I don't really order from anyone else to compare them against. Although that being said I've never felt the need to go else where.

I'm from the future. The future of space

The only complaint I ever had was when you order something that was "regular stock" and then waited and waited. The new website tells you actually in stock or not, so that is no longer an issue.

I will be trying them out again shortly.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Been steering clear of Wayland games for the last couple of years after successive orders took forever to be sent.

A few weeks back I decided to give them another try and ordered the new Star Wars Armada waves. Over three weeks later order has not been sent. Looks like they are struggling! to get stock.

I'm sure I will get it eventually and they are keeping me updated but same old Wayland as far as I am concerned and won't be using them again.
