My Skelton warrior project is over a year behind due to them bumbling about and not distributing them as was announced by wgf. Same deal with my war of the Spanish succession project.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Warlord's charging two or three times the original WGF prices, so no...

WGF boxsets are still pretty commonly available on sites other than Warlord.

If you can find me a place that had either skeleton warriors or WSS in stock I will be shocked.

The skeletons though, seem to be lacking on ebay.

Oh right, the topic

I was just getting into 28mm ancients and Horse & Musket gaming when Warlord took on the WGF brand and started slowly trickling out a few sets. So I didn't get in on them. I ended up going for metal ancients from Armorum & Aquilla in metal. I ended up going with Rome in the east, so it made sense.

http://www.aandaminiatures.co.uk/products/?p=9

£9 for 8 miniatures in metal seemed better to me in the end than doing plastics. Though I think the biggest factor was USPS jacking up shipping charges to Canada to the point that ordering from the UK just makes so much more sense now.

Had I gone for WGF's Romans and some celts and germanics and whatnot, I'd probably be a bit annoyed at how I basically need to find alternatives now, but I'd probably get more than enough from the existing stock (unlike the skeletons).

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Yeah, I was quite sad when I heard about the buy out. Wargames factory have come along way since the beginning.

I have spotted some WGF sprues on Warlords Games website, no Skellies though, and as was obvious from the beginning they are more expensive.

If they are being made in England from now on, this is not a problem though.

Most of my big projects were based on WGF minis. Samurai, WW2 Americans, Germans and Russians, Hoplites and Amazons, etc. Warlord isn't selling any of them except the samurai and survivors at effectively thrice their original price.

Some would say Warlord are a pack of bastards. People are talking.

Are the Shock Troops/Great Coats out of print too?

They were some adequate models.

Pretty sure they're out of production forever.

Dreamforge Games sell the old Wargames Factory WW2 stuff, 28mm and 15mm. Warlord, as mentioned, sell the survivors, American War of Independence, and Feudal Japan stuff. I'm not sure what will happen to the fantasy and Sci Fi stuff, since Warlord Games don't have a game that they could be used with, so they presumably won't sell them.

Wrongo, go and look at the Warlord site again...

The fantasy stuff is being sold by the sprue. Still far more expensive than it should be though.

https://us-store.warlordgames.com/collections/other-games/

The Orc sprue is still available, couldn't locate the skellies.
Not impressed with the price, as WGF sold them $22 for a box of 18 (usually got it for less) that's six sprues, Warlords wants $5 per sprue so a similar count on them will be $30. Totally gak.

It's disappointing as they are some pretty nice Orcs and have an Angus McBride look to them. He did the covers for MERPS RPG. They also fit well for LotR SBG and can fill in for most orcish types.

Also Dreamforge is taking care of the Greatcoat Sci-fi troopers.

I'm generally less and less unimpressed with Warlord.

They have some good plastic kits, but their metal historicals seem so-so in many cases, their games seem to be going the way of GW pricing structure and they've made massive increases in the prices of the WGF figs.

I was all keyed up to buy the bikers, but not at the price they're asking now. The WGF sculpts weren't even that great to begin with, but they were well priced. Now they're both mediocre figs and overpriced.

No Thanks.

This sums up my feelings as well.

WGF minis best attribute was they were inexpensive.

the skeletons were quite good, hence my desire to buy a lot of them.

I mentioned the war of the spanish succesion stuff, as it was the only way to get into the period inexpensively as all other manufacturers make metal only.

the WGF kits were so inexpensive that at least some of them weren't making any money for them when they hit distribution

(and if I remember righly some of the Dreamforged kits were the same when WGF was handling the priceing as I remember Mark posting about it when he took over and had to raise prices)

so they certainly had to go up

It is a shame they've not released all of the range they bought up though (even if some of it had to be online direct sale only) as why buy the ranges if they didn't plan to use them

And don't forget that the Wargames Factory stuff went from poor to quite good as they progressed with their later offerings being pretty darn good. When I saw Warlord Games was taking off the sales of their product line I knew that was it. No more.

Everything goes up in price, and that's just inflation, etc. But based on previous kits and the number of sprues, the biker kit almost doubled in price while it halved in contents. That was the WGF kit I had been waiting for over a year, but based on the new prices the end I just said forget it. It's cheaper to buy metal bikers from West Wind/Old Glory.

Silly question, lord marcus, but have you tried contacting Warlord and asking - politely - when the Skeletons might be coming back on the market?

I asked about them a few months back. Apparently they are retooling a lot of the molds, but the Shock Troops are in the pipeline.

It's a long pipeline.

I have plenty of Shock Troops left from a long-abandoned project, I check ebay though and apparently no one wants them, prices are below the original retail price.

Maybe a relaunch with some new units would help.

I was keen on getting some Squidheads, but whenever I wanted to get some sprues on ebay the price always went a bit high for my tastes, but well below retail.

Is WGF deal with Warlord exclusive or are they allowed to sell in other markets?

And the wargames factory forum seems to be dead? I am starting to think that it was not a partnership but a takeover. :(

WGF has basically pulled out of any form of direct selling of minis and have sold/transferred the distribution rights to their own brand kits, a lot to warlord, some to dreamforge (not sure if anybody else took on any)

WGF is solely focused on manufacturing kits for other people now

Each skeleton sprues would be $8.00.

Please be aware that, as we explained in our previous messages, the plans for the skeletons are not made up yet and since we do not know when we are going to re-release them again we currently have received no stock form Wargames Factory manufacturer.

This means that the price may be set differently in the future and the sprues we would be able to get you are those few that we have received as samples from Wargames Factory manufacturer, so to provide you with high quantities may be a problem at the moment.

What I got when I emailed them this last Friday and they just got back to me.

Dreamforge is having a Labor Day Sale, where each of the three WGF WWII kits in 28mm are $13. $13! You'd be crazy not to buy.

Every now and again I regret doing WW2 in 15mm instead of 28mm. This is one of those moments.
