'Murica! (again)

Who's getting their stuff out, excited by whatever Titanicus ends up being? Yeah, who knows if our old Epic stuff will be able to be used at some point but for now, dusting off the Squats again and gotta get those Overlords painted.

I wish I bought Squats back in the day, great looking army with fun gizmo’s. I Started Epic again last year with NetEpic, built up a Genestealer Cult of all things, never saw that army coming

Just snaffled a load of Super Heavy Tanks of ebay to expand my Guard, need them big guns for my next campaign against Chaos. Curious to see how the new game turns out, rules wise I will probably stick to NetEpic. The models is were my interest lies, the slight increase in scale doesn’t bother me. It was quite inconsistent in old epic, stuff like Chaos Marines and Genestealers were giants compared to other troops. Looking forward to seeing some sexy new Titans, hope we get some Mechanicus units too, I want all the big stompy robots/mechs

Yup, been working on the Space Marine/Ad Titanicus Ork army I always wanted as a kid.

Noise is the new game is new scale sadly, but its been fun painting up the classic stuff.

Nearly finished my Goff clan and support, but plenty of boyz still to go.

Really enjoying playing the classic version for sure. Armageddon is the more "balanced" set, but the fan Epic:Gold better reflects Epic as I knew it getting in to GW games.

Wildboyz were the last card I painted.

It's mostly the older gamers at my club playing it.
The ones who got out of 40k when they went to 3rd ed.
Kinda like the same crew who keep blood bowl alive.

They prefer its elegant simplicity to massed battles.
It's also a more logical scale if you want to put huge stompy robots on the table and ICBMs and not have to worry about ranges being "longer than the table".

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

My local club plays it (although they have mostly moved onto the 30k version at the moment).

I have 5000 points of Marines but I am currently working on a Kult of Speed, only 2500 points at the moment though. My next purchase will be 40 bases of Warbikes....

I'm not sure if I will bother with Titcanicus, Titans aren't really much interest to me and if the scale is as different as rumoured I don't see much point in getting it.

Maybe if it becomes a fully supported game.

I have been a hardcore fan of Epic since the original Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine games. I didn't have much experience with table top wargames, and while I was interested in the 40k universe, I thought Rogue Trader was a mess. When I expressed interest in the Space Marine v2 set that was just hitting stores, a guy working at a gaming store offered to sell me his older sets for a pretty cheap price, along with the Codex Titanicus, White Dwarf articles, and more miniatures than I knew what to do with. I was just fascinated with the whole lot but most of all the story of the Horus Heresy. I introduced it to my friends who all loved it. Lots of fun memories of those days.

I moved, and introduced the next group of friends I had to the game and they loved it too. Eventually we moved up to SM2/TL, but my heart was always back in AT/SM1. I moved again, and while I did play here and there, it seemed like my hobby years were behind me around the time Epic40k came out, which, like everyone else, kinda scoffed at. It wasnt until Epic 40k stuff was selling for pennies did I buy it out of curiosity, realizing that the Epic 40k is indeed an amazing box set, but just not the kind of Epic game epic players wanted.

I was on the EpicA playtesting team back in the day, but wasnt happy the direction of the game went in. I never really invested beyond the rulebooks.

I had argued that Epic was first and foremost about the Titans, and that without them Epic was just another wargame. Our own AT/SM1 games would have 8-10 titans on the table with tanks and infantry running around them. Truly amazing sites. To me that is Epic, not a pure Titan game, and not a war game with just tanks and infantry.

I got out of gaming for awhile, and then found myself back in a few years ago re-buying everything I previously sold, or buying the stuff I always wanted.

I am not crazy about this Epic v5 going up a little in scale, but I will get the set when it comes out anyway. In truth, after all these years, I have multiple box sets of all the games, with a ton of minis, and when I do introduce a friend to Epic, I usually do with SM2 anyway. But I hope the new version does well cause I would love to see a thriving Epic community again.

I came to GW a little late for epic, but I have been gathering epic models from all editions to use in NetEA

Older players in my area - well older than most of the current ed 40k players.
Mid-to-late 30 year olds.
Which locally is the mates of the guy who was a local store manager when it was a thing.

Well, the proxy market is going strong, so Epic doesn't have to be dead, we just need to keep on playing and building armies.

Currently resisting the urge to start an imperial guard armoured company too.
A certain company makes amazing "not leman Russ" models in all types at £3.40 each.

So £34 per armoured company seems not too bad to me.
Also happens to make a Griffin, basilisk, hellhound, chimaera etc lol.

I'm getting ready for a game later this week. Here's my 3k Eldar army ready to take the field, spoilered because my pictures are always huge.

Spoiler:

The big guys on the far right are Revenant Titans converted from Wraithguard I had lying around. The Night Spinners are getting painted tomorrow after work, as the bare metal one is getting primed this evening. The best part about this army is that the minis were free from a friend who was cleaning out junk from around his house right before he moved!

I also have a Dark Eldar army made (mostly) from the Onslaught minis line, but it's still being painted right now so no pictures yet.

"I have concluded through careful empirical analysis and much thought that somebody is looking out for me, keeping track of what I think about things, forgiving me when I do less than I ought, giving me strength to shoot for more than I think I am capable of. I believe they know everything that I do and think, and they still love me. And I’ve concluded, after careful consideration, that this person keeping score is me." -Adam Savage

Epic ("Space Marine" version) was always my favourite GW game to play, as opposed to painting... :-)

Not much action these days, but I still have Dark Angels and Eldar tucked away, plus various bits from Chaos and Orks.

My son found the Emperor titan and Megagargants when he was around two years old. He appreciated the encounter, the titan and gargants did not...RIP. :-D

There's a decent community of Net Epic players here in Perth. Enough that it isn't too hard to get a game when you know the regulars, and we get about dozen to most tournaments.

My first army was Space Marines but I've barely played it, I moved on to Guard very quickly and have played the standard list, Minervans and Baran Siegemasters. I played a tournament with Siegemasters, I had 60 stands of infantry and 18 activations in total - one game had finished before I'd gotten through my deployment

Now I'm building a Lost and the Damned list. I struggled to make it work or have much fun with the old Stigmatus list, but the new Lost and the Damned list is a lot more fun. There's a good range of proxies out there for most of the stuff in the list.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
