Nice! Immortalized digging the blue highlights on the black. The model looks really clean as well. Wasn't sure about the sword till I saw the side view in a later picture.

That's a really nice effect. The teal highlights work amazingly well. I think I might steal that for my own Deathwatch.

Thanks guys. I use Vallejo Periscopes with a bit of white on the corners.

Looks good. Nice work with highlighting the armour.

The new GW are really nice and great value, might be worth a look if you're stuck for basing ideas.

I actually think I want to sculpt/design custom bases, make molds, and cast them for reproduction across the Army. I already have a huge 50lb bag of Merlin's Magic Plaster so i just need some 2 Part Silicone.

I am a bit torn on what style to go with however. I like the ideas of Temple Ruins, but i was thinking maybe i could incorporate a creeping "alien invasion" similar to the Secret Weapon Miniature bases:

I ordered some Etched Brass Imperial eagles and a new fancy tool that i thought was too cool not to share for making my bases.

It's a Greenstuff World Roll Maker. I am going to use it to make the Tentacles for my bases:

Second member of Crull started. While waiting for my basing materials I'm going to continue slowing painting everything. I also ordered a light box so when it arrives I'll start updating pictures with my DSLR rather than crappy iPhone pics.

Heavy weapon guy from the box is a Salamnder so he has Jet Black skin to match the armor with the trademark red eyes.

Fixed with much better image:

Had someone ask about paints and order of placement via Private Message. Here is the list of paints and way i apply them for this color scheme:

Paints:
Black Armour - Vallejo Black, Vallejo Periscope (Blue), Vallejo Dead White.
1. Paint all black surfaces with a think layer of black after priming. Sometimes the primer has a different finish so when you start glazing you need the undercoat to match the black you apply.

2. Then i simply started slowing mixing a little Periscope into the black and applied thin glazes pushing the paint up to the highlight area. You can be a bit rough on transitions becasue a Black glaze with harmonize quickly. Note I didn't edge highlight everything. With my style i picked out the edges that would catch the most light and left the others highlighted

3. Then i did some straight Periscope Glazes up to the edges. Remember to leave a little of the previous color mixtures showing.

4. Then i did a 50:50 mix of Dead White and Periscope and simply "placed" the very edge highlights as carefully as possible. Sometimes you can use the side of the brush, but for semi rounded edges you almost have to slowly draw the line. I do this by connecting small lines of paint by just touching the brush down and picking it back up following the edge.

5. Once i was happy with that I glazed the area with Black to soften the transitions and harmonize the colors. You can repeat the steps from 1-5 as much as you like until you are happy with the transitions and colors.

6. finally I used pure Dead White and touched just the very Corners of the brightest areas here and there.

Silver - P3 Pig Iron, Nuln Oil, P3 Quick Silver (GW Druchi Violet & GW Lahmiam Medium for just the Deathwatch Arms/Shoulder)
1. Basecoat with Pig Iron
2. Wash with N uln Oil
3. Once it's Dry then Highlight highest edges with Quick Silver
4. For the Deathwatch Arms I did progressive thinned glazes of Druchi Violet building toward the shadows. This just gives it a nice purple tint. You could use virtually any color and blue is the most common. Since I used blue highlights on the Armour i used purple to have it stand out a bit more.

Gold - P3 Solid Gold, GW Reikland Fleshshade, P3 Quick Silver
1. Basecoat Solid Gold
2. Wash with Reikland
3. Highlights highest edges with Quick Silver

Red - GW Khorne Red, GW Evil Sun Scarlet, GW Fire Dragon Bright, GW Nuln Oil
1. Paint a smooth full base coat of Khorne Red
2. Begin highlighting as above with Evil Sun Scarlet. I made sure to have more Evil Sun showing so it looked brighter red.
3. Wash the recesses with Nuln Oil.
4. Touch up the red with Glazes of Evil Sun if necessary
5. Touch the highest corners with Fire Dragon Bright

Green - GW Caliban Green, GW Warpstone Glow, GW Moot Green, GW Nuln Oil (Black also for the Xenophase Sword)
1. Base with Caliban Green
2. Glaze Highlights with Warpstone Glow
3. Tough the highest areas/corners with Moot Green.
4. Wash in the recesses with Nuln Oil where necessary or for the sword glaze with black to soften transitions.

Yellow - GW Averland Sunset, GW Yriel Yellow, Dead White
1. Base with Averland Sunset
2. Highlight with Yriel yellow
3. Touch corners and highest areas with a mix of Yriel Yellow and Dead White

Great work! They look seriously great and I'm going to try to do something similar for my own guys. Do you know which GW colour periscope blue corresponds with?

32mm Bases are done. Just to wait for them to Set and I can make a mold to reproduce across the army.

The Base Mold has Cured. I'll try with the Merlin's Magic (Dentstone) I have first and possible go to resin if i'm not happy with the results. Should be fine though based on earlier castings.
