I am attending Michigan's Grand Tournament next weekend, and have been working hard on a list for it.
Please tell me - what do you think of this, how is it weak, how could it be improved?
Thank you so much!

Deployment:
Spoiler:

-) All units with a * next to them are in the miniStar, centered on the table pushing deployment edge for that potential turn 1 CC, if not a definite turn 2 charge; the Pupps all to the front, and the Characters all able to touch base with both pupps.

-) the Rune Priests hope for Shroud psyker power, all going Tempastus for at least that -amazing- living lightning.

Turn 1:
-) Wulfen land in a way that they are as far forward as possible while still being able to be joined by the IC's of the miniStar and during shooting phase run to reposition themselves for the IC's are equidistant to them and also the IC's are equidistant to the Pupps (who are still in front, so that they can Look Out Sir to them). The Rune Priests scoot with their 12" Turboboost fowards to tie distance with pupps, so that the next turn will have a solid Charge (especially if Shrouded, as they'll get 2+ jinks). Also, with the FAQ Pods are amazing at scoring objectives - if centered on one, need to roll no more than a 10 to scatter and still maintain distance for capturing the objective.

-) Bjorn lands perfectly on another objective midfield to be within charge range the next turn, and remains within Lucius to keep him protected - but within 6" of Ruins to offer him protection if he ends up getting disembarked.

-) Living lightning offers 6-9 d6's of shots towards vehicles and MC's, enough to take down a Knight a turn, able to ignore Jinking via the RP that has the Helm.

Turn 2+:
-) mFang lands with pod again on an objective, and takes some cover, in range of some CC next turn.

?:
Will this miniStar be sufficient to absorb the first turn Alpha? If not - please tell me what would rock this unit - It's faced triple Vindi's and Triple Thunderfire Cannons 3 turns in a row before finally dropping to it's last wounds. It's faced dozens of Grav shots. It's faced IG Tank-Cordian Lines. And still had enough punch left to do what it had to.

?:
Is there something that can make this miniStar even greater?

Again, thank you!

Harsh list.
I like Bjorn in the pod, aside from being a solid gun what are you using the Helfrost for?

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

It's nice to assassinate!
I've got:

- First Blood Warlord Kill against a Bloodthirster, landing turn 1 and shooting.

- First Blood Warlord kill vs a Flying Hive Tyrant, like before.

It's a wiiiild shot, massive odds, but when it happens it's so awesome haha

Know any clever ways to improve the miniStar?

I've got fearless and preferred enemy via the Wolf Priest, which seems essential for staying power and if hitting on 3's becomes hitting even better xD

Considering all the Dakka Spam and gimmicks in 40k now, i wanted to reach out to the world of DakkaDakka to see how fail this may be

Just looked up the rules for the Knights, I'd be doing a bot of testing on the Thermal Canon. It looks like a SM Deathstar killer packing ap1 in a large blast.
I do like the Battle Canon as well, two shots like that would ruin any xenos units it hits, blast scatter and overhang is one of the best ways of dealing with Warp Spiders.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Other than points reasons, is there any good reason not to run all the Dreads in Lucius Pods? I mean, Murderfang would probably appreciate the place to hide until he can actually assault. :-p

Oh, it would be wonderful!

Dreads hopping for pod to pod, 6" move + 2" embark range + the 12" length of pod + 6" disembark move + 2d6" charge, across 2 turns: 27-37" ... like cavalry.

However, the newest rules for the Lucius are found in Imperial Armour 2: 2nd Edition, and everything in the book is considered "Relics of the Armoury" and can only be fielded once per -LIST- (Not just once per detachment).

Oh wow... and there was no errata or clarification which changed that? I own three of damn things. :-(

Know that they aren't tournament legal beyond one to avoid -potential- disqualification (few really have it down right...)

However, there's nothing essentially broken about the pods themselves (beyond aformentioned tactics turning dreads into cavalry haha) so in friendly play, go for it! I know a few people who have 6!

Thanks for the head's up. They'll still see for-fun play, but yeah... I need to significantly rebuild my next GT list for January now. :-p

put a ruin in each corner, but not too far into the corner, enough to get CC charge range from into the corner that people *may* occupy, but close enough to the center to make it viable to reach far.

then, dropping your Dreads into the ruins you can have solid saves if not hidden, then charge as you like.

and placing objectives into that cover will keep your pods useful

That's going to have to be the plan. I admit, it does make my dreams of all CC Dread's doing work a little less vibrant. :-p

Well, Dreads are doing well again...

I (as you may see) believe in balance and moderation, two dreads are as much as I'm willing to push it.

I find it hard to keep too many safe.
That I have a Knight means gotta take it down at least early game to have a chance at removing it by late game (when all the weapons run out),
And my miniStar needs distraction for the alpha from their entire army might bring it lower than id like...
And that my alpha is -assuredly- within turn 2 charge (32"+ charge! Plus that I'm 12" deployed, so really that means reliably back board edge) it forces so many things to shoot at, like -now-!

*and* therefore giving my dreads a whole lot less focus, so they can at least reach their initial CC targets before succumbing to whatever shinanegans remain of my opponent to throw at them.

Dropping ol' Fang turn 2+ provides me the opportunity to tie uo stuff in CC and therefore give him some screening from heavy weapons that might target him down.

I may be wrong but i recall reading you can have as many relics of the armoury as you want with a master of the relics, which for space wolves is an iron or rune priest.

Actually, having studied this further, Lucius Pod isn't a Relic - there *are* Roster entries stating "Relic of the Armoury" after all! (A speeder)

So, tho my tourney has 0-1 for Forge World models, it is otherwise legal to spam xD
