I'm a big fan of FFG's games in general, but how does the LotR CCG play? I've considered picking it up for my wife and I or my brother and I, but just the base set initially. Is it worth picking up? How does it hold up as a cooperative game?

Entertaining but hard as nails. Solo I win maybe 1 game in 8 using just the core set. The way the core set is arranged, two players will have their choice of characters (generally 1 each, or 1 and 2) with a chance to build their own deck before each game from a so-so collection of cards. With that in mind it wouldn't hurt to pick up two sets if you can find them for a good price; sure the duplicate characters and monters won't be of use but the player cards are divided into four spheres and each has a couple of really useful cards for that sphere. Having more of those in your deck sure won't hurt

Ooh, the new version is out? Played the heck out of the old one. I’ll have to look into the new one.

Edit: Woops. Need to drink more coffee before posting. Thought this was L5R. Which should have a TCG coming out sometime eventually.

You mean the LCG? Not to nitpick, but its LCG as the CCG died with Decipher not being a company anymore long time ago. (I wish the CCG was alive...)

I own literally every expansion for it. I have always liked it. You will get a good bit of replay from the core set, as it gets pretty hard.

I recommend going to hallofbeorn.com I believe is the site. Guy is dedicated to it, does articles on it, and answers a lot of questions on what is the best expansions to buy, how to build good decks over all, etc.

I love the game, but I am hoping the rumors of it being canceled soon are true. The more recent expansions are really stretching lore/adventures. Id like it to end so I have a full complete game, can build some decks and store it away.
