Hey dakka, quick nooby rule question.

My brother is playing skaven, and he has made the bold claim that a unit of 20 plague monks with two daggers or whatever put out 5 attacks each, because their daggers have two attacks each and since they have two they attack with both, ergo 4 attacks a piece and then an additional attack per model for there being twenty in the unit.

And simply this doesn't feel right, and it sure as heck doesn't sit well because my death army doesn't have much shooting

So is it a bold claim that each tiny little rat gets 5 attacks a piece? Is it simply incorrect? or am I just screwed?

Thank you!
~Mikey

he's incorrect. the warscroll says if they have a pair ofor blades they may reroll hits and they get an additional attack on the charge.

they get 2 regular attacks if no charge.

I thought so, however, can you quote the rules? Just so I can shove it in his face.

He number of attacks a model can make is
determined by the weapons that it is armed
with. the weapon options a model has are
listed in its description on its warscroll.
Missile weapons can be used in the shooting
phase, and melee weapons can be used in
the combat phase. the number of attacks
a model can make is equal to the Attacks
characteristic for the weapons it can use.

It could say one blade, it could say four blades, but if the attack characteristic of it is 2 it will be 2.

No. This argument annoys me, both because its only ever used by people benefiting from it and because even a basic examination of the warscrolls involved makes it clear the attacks do not double. Further, page 4 of the faq reads:

"If models are armed with identical weapons they do not double the number of attacks, but will usually gain an extra ability instead."

Unfortunately it seems like your brother is being one of those players who creatively interprets/misreads the rules for benefit. By the way, they only get +1 attack on the charge, there is no benefit based on unit size.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Okay, thank you. He is new to the game (as am I) but can be quite the jerk sometimes so thank you for the information!
