So first and foremost, this Warlord is being raffled off, with every $10 donation going to Doctors Without Borders and entering you for a chance to win it.

With that out of the way, join me on this harrowing adventure of 'help I have bitten off more than I can chew'.
The initial delivery turned out to be a disappointment, as Forgeworld forgot to send instructions for the main body and in fact forgot to send most of the main body - most of the parts
were missing and there was no 'Checked by' slip. The good news is that they have been quick to rectify this error and have dispatched the missing parts.
So in the mean time, I have cracked open the 'white boxes' that are completely packed on their own. I had a general idea of what I wanted to do with the Warlord, so I started with the
claw hand to establish how the overall scheme is going to look and make sure I get more formulas set in stone before moving on to the rest of the titan.
So yes, I do want this to look great, but Im also living in the real world. I have fronted the money for an expensive titan and I have blocked off a large chunk of time from commission work to
complete it. Therefore, Im going to be looking to paint in a super efficient, effective, and concise way. That means that I cant devote a month to painting this (which could certainly be possible,
given all of the surface area). Here is how Im tackling it to get it done quick but still have it look (hopefully) great.
The marble is being done the same all over the titan.
Vallejo Bonewhite > Vallejo Sombre Grey airbrushed veins> SWM Blue Black Wash> SWM Tire Black thin veins brushed in > Airbrush the gaps between veins with Bonewhite/Dead white 50/50 mix > Vallejo NATO Black some of the veins to raise them > Dead White veins and 'scratches' > Airbrush gaps again with just Deadwhite > Super thin wash with deadwhite > varnish > Liquid Water FX
The metal itself is spray paint primer from Lowes. I use a matte black and then 'sort of' zenith with a metallic spray. I could do this with airbrush but its much faster on large pieces like this plus it can dry outside and not
take up as much real estate on my workdesk. I then wash it using airbrush with thinned Vallejo Black wash, and finally drybrush it with Vallejo Game Air silver. I also sponge highlight the edges with a mix of Silver and Dead white.
Secret Weapon Miniatures Rust Red and Rust Orange is then used. Its a simple recipe for the metal but it gives it the look that Im going for...I dont know fluff very well but I want to give the impression that the Imperium has
a false facade, grand marble and shining plates but the main workings are oily and rusted.
All of the armor plates are lined with a 50/50 mix of Vallejo Game Air Silver and
GW's newer Retributor Armor, and then edge lined with Game Air Silver. A wash of Secret Weapon Dark Sepia is then liberally applied. This is a huge
time saver that still looks the part.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Today I started (but didnt finish) some of the freehand stuff.
The first step was just blocking things out and start out with some of the first levels.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Had a solid day, raised nearly $500 for Doctors without Borders and got some guns finished!
Much more work on the way, keep the faith!
