Heya,

I need help with my list on team tournament. Since it's team tourney, I can choose o dodge tau or eldar or such so if I will have weakness for those I can choose another opponent.

I have core of the army on my mind:

5 veterans + 4 frag cannons + drop pod = 245
5 veterans + 4 frag cannons + drop pod = 245
5 veterans + 4 frag cannons + drop pod = 245

5 veterans + 3 meltagun + drop pod = 175
5 veterans + 3 meltagun + drop pod = 175
5 veterans + 3 meltagun + drop pod = 175

That is 1260 points for start, I am thinking of thunder hammer and ss captain and vanguard veterans that I can deep strike with relic from captain (he can ride with shooty veterans)
I could also add lone terminators for more drop pods, or land raider that can deep strike via Beacon Angelis with aquilla team inside.

FYI I cannot include imperial guard or SM since my teammates are playing them.

What is your opinion?

How are you, currently, doing this legally?

I see no HQ, or Formations listed.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

I'm a big fan of Frag Cannons, but some will suggest cutting down to 2 per Squad, however that's more opinion than anything.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Agreed. I theorize that one is enough, but haven't tested it yet.

I also think frag cannons are so good you should replace the melta squads with them.

the core is the same, but I added HQ and some assaulty units:

HQ - DW captain with TH/SS artificer armor and beacon angelis = 190

TROOPS:

ELITES:
5x vanguard veterans + heavy thunder hammer + twin LCs= 165

Fast attack:

5x veterans + 5 dw shotguns + vanguard veteran + heavy thunder hammer = 165

Idea is to drop everything and include HQ with one squad of my dudes so I can use my relic to teleport aquilla team that is already on the table and draw attention with heavy thunder hammer. Vanguards are deep striking with rest of the drop pods next turn and biker is there just to draw attention while going for some of the backfield objectives.

I also thought of scrathichng vanguard veterans and just include models into aquilla team along with terminators, vanguards and such to draw attention away from my frag cannon squads.

Thoughts?

What about some different thoughts, just sort of thinking outside the box here... maybe try filling your elite and fast slots with single model units (or units of 2 models) of bikes and vvets/terminators? That could provide for some pretty good distraction units. A single melta bomb vvet or biker could be a pain if not dealt with, and it may free up some melta guns on your vets to save points (since the frag cannons will probably be all the anti-vehicle you'd need?)

Also, may as well ally in an Inquisitor with grenades, skulls, etc. and stick them with the killteam that will start on the table, which then gets slingshotted up to your HQ? It could also be fun to include a few librarians in that killteam to dish out some powers or join other squads?

Also, the Watch Master is slightly better for slightly more points than the captain IMO, I'd just go for him.

I like the 3 squads of podding frag cannons, but I don't think you'll also need melta guns... i'd try to get more bodies or something on the table instead, but YMMV. Perhaps for Knights, since it's cheaper to try and hit them with those units, them throw them away as opposed to a frag cannon unit... so I guess I could see that being a reason to keep them.

Hope that helps a bit or maybe springs up some other thoughts...

I personally don't like 4 frag cannons in a unit of 5. I prefer 2. Its just so many points in something which will surely murder stuff but I think its too fragile.

I like 5 guys, 2 frag cannons, pod, melta bomb on sgt. I think its like 205. Skim all those extra points and get yourself another unt.

I also like the 1 man units. I like vanguard, with MB single.
I also like bikes with power weapon singe. (power axe most likely)

Also you are aware that you can trade your boltgun in for a shotgun, then trade you cc weapon back in for a bolter so all your models should have both a shotgun AND a bolter for free right? Check it out in the book. Its legit.

This is another reason to skip all 4 cannons. Your other dudes are bosses too!

I did not get in watch master, coz I think he wont do much good, I won't be changing mission tactics that soon and he wont dmg those vehicles as I would like to

Reason for lone vanguard vets with heavy thunder hammer is because my opponent will have to waste firepower to kill em but if they will not, my vvets can do much more harm with this rather than meltabomb

2 or 3 frag cannons is enough. You will get overkill and wasted points with 4.

I use 4.

That number makes me feel comfortable. Not sure how NECESSARY it is, but I'm a fan.

OK. That does give you a lot of anti-vehicle. I guess that is useful vs marines with free razorbacks etc.

2 frags at 12" is as much as the max number of lascannons in a devastator squad. It's enough for sure.
