The hordes of chaos have always fascinated me. Far more than generic bad guys, in the Dark Future of the 41st Millenium, at times they almost seem like anti-heroes. Almost.

In any chase, they can be so much more than just spikey marines - no matter if they are survivors of the Horus Heresy or recent renegades of the Badab War.

In this log i will try to build several small war bands, each with their own character and identity, who will form the bigger whole of a truly chaotic host of warriors for the dark gods.

The first Units to get out of the trenches are my Death Guard war band, the Heralds of Corrosion. Let's get started.

Lord Morsus, the Black Flame. He was blessed by the Plague Father with the ever burning touch of corrosion, singing the flesh from his bones but leaving him free to spread the joyous corruption and decay that delights the Lord of Rot so much.

Morsus's personal retinue are the Plague Riders, ready to spread death and doom under the command of their master.

The Plague Champion Stercus and his fellow Plague Marines.

Sodden Death, the Rhino of Squad Stercus.

The Plague Champion Siphious and his jolly brethren.

Corpse Wagon, the chosen method of transportation for Squad Siphious.

Enhanced Ogryns, formerly attached to the Planetary Defense Force, led by the being formerly known as Algernon.

More of the repurposed workforce of the Planetary GovenourĀ“s nurserymen, led by the being formerly known as Jobe.

The Chaos Champion Deiectio and his men, ready to gift death to any who would welcome it.

These are my first thousand points of this new project, but there are quite a few more to come. As you might be able to tell by now, this blog will be conversion heavy, time constraints be damned. The ogryns are stand ins for chaos spawns, at least until i've managed to build a bigger host of traitor militia to my forces. Feel free to comment and critique, and stay tuned for the next update.

Thanks guys, really means a lot to me.

Here's what i'm currently working on: Some seventy-ish Plague Zombies from back in the day.

These are former loyal elements of the Planetary Defense Force, having succumbed to the Curse of Unbelief and risen to the command of their new masters.

They will count as cultists until i've been able to add Typhus or Necrosius to my force!

All of them are Mantic Miniature's Plague Zombies, back from 2012. They were made by combining their Kings of War Zombies with their Corporation soldiers. Sadly, the soldiers are by now OOP, which makes the only place where you cann still find them Ebay. Mantic has now started a new line of sci-fi zombies, who look pretty good - but i wasn't able to get my hands on them yet. Still, i'd probably recommend them, given the past quality of Mantic's products and the comparably low price.

Also, i don't get a lot of hobby-related work done under the week, but here's a sneak-peak for my new project. Things are going to get ...excessive.

Those are some fantastic nugle minis! It's so easy to just paint 'em green and be done with it but you went above and beyond. Keep them coming!

Thank you guys, as always it means a lot.

I've had a busy weekend, but i've managed to put some time aside for some posing and glueing. Now i'm out of superglue and this is what i've managed so far.

Those plague marines are absurdly cool. Fantastic work. I love the poses of your noise marines, that marine stomping pose is too good.

Subbed! So much win! What can I say? Fantastic death guard and those noise marines are looking killer! The effort you put into your pieces really shows through. Very grim my friend. Lovely!

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project!

I've made some good progress on the Noise Marines, although i'm not quite happy with some of the hair yet. I'm aiming for a stage of not-total-corruption, mostly because i dislike the pink and black colour scheme and also because i want to give them some additional character. Also i wanted a somewhat over the top look for them, all in all these guys are much closer to hair metal marines than the canonical BDSM hermaphrodites that GW is going for these days. As you might be able to tell, this project is still very much work in progress, so i'm kind of making things up as i go along.

Aaand i've just noticed the whole buzz around the Traitor Legions Supplement. Feth me. I have to admit, i'm usually the guy who really dislikes to get hyped. But it certainly looks like a good time to get hyped!

In honour of the release on the 10th of december i will temporarily set my Noise Marines aside and finish a project that i started two or three years ago. Time for some Thousand Sons.

Tiamakh the Necromancer, Lord Sorcerer of The Windtorn, Thousand Sons warband.

The finished half of Squad Gacharin, Rubicae led by the Sorcerer Gacharin Veidt

The unfinished half of Squad Gacharin, four more Rubics to give the unit the blessed Number of the Prince of Pathways.

Squad Qurak of the Scarab Occult, Rubic Terminators, also unfinished.

As you might be able to tell, i got bored with them during the highlighting, so i shelved and forgot about them. Now they will hopefully see some more use in the not to distant future. In any case, they've collected enough dust and are about to be finished.

Brilliant update, really loving the noise marine leader giving the sign of the beast, that should be a badass and metal squad in the end.

And these thousand sons sure deserved the unshelving. I really love the original model of the sorceror lord, and the additions you made are tasteful.

Looks like the all new Thousand Sons are due for this weekend, so i got myself busy, finishing my old guard.

This is Tiamakh the Necromancer, Lord Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons.

The leader of my small detachment is a conversion of the old OOP chaos Terminator Lord in metal, and i do hope that not too many declare this to be heresy, but i felt it was necessary to give the model a more certain egyptian touch.

For what it matters, i'm very happy how the finished model came out. and the additions you made are tasteful.

That is a relief. I don't dare to think of all the hate i got on 4chan when i first announced my plans to convert this guy.

His personal guard, Squad Qurak.

Made with a lovely conversion kit from ebay. By now they can be far easier bought from Wargames Exclusive. I really do enjoy the feel of these guys. I'm looking forward to their new rules, overpriced as they might be.

Rubicae marine squad the Torn, led by the Sorcerer Gacharin Veidt.

Also made with a wide range of bits and the conversion kit from Wargames Exclusive. There is an almost three year gap between the guys on the upper and the dudes on the lower row, and i can really see the difference - but at least i can now call them finished.

So, it's been a while and i've managed to put some base layers on my Noise Marines.

Every time i get to this stage i deeply question my painting skills. But, well, everything will look better once i get to add some shades.

I've also had some time to dig out some older squads from back in the day and touch up on some forgotten projects. Stay tuned.

I haven't posted stuff in quite some time, turns out finishing my master's degree is actually a lot of work. Who knew? In any way, i've finally come around to convert a Rhino for my Noise Marines.

Also, since i was really in the mood for converting some stuff, i've also finished a unit of Berzerkers, completing my gallery of all the cult troops.

Nice. I like the eagle head from the terrain set on the EC rhino, excellent idea.

'Zerkers are looking great too.

Very cool additions, the head on the rhino is indeed a very cool idea. And the berzerkers look full of personality too.

Thanks! I still had about 30 of them lying around and i figured that i could do something eagle-related with them, given the Emperor's Children unhealthy obsession with tagging imperial eagles everywhere.

I think they are Blood Warriors from the AoS starter kit. In my opinion they mesh quite well with the DV chosen and the newer, more organic design for CSM armour.

Since the weather was just about right, i finally managed to try out that brand new airbrush - that i bought merely three years ago.I still have to do some layering and edge highlights, of course, but i'm really suprised that i wasn't forced to strip the poor thing. Please let me know what you think.

There is a big game with my Death Guard coming up in two weeks and since the age of formations is coming to an end, the time seems about right to build a Terminator Annihilation Force and a Raptor Talon. So i 'll keep myself busy building up those two. I'll post pictures once they're presentable.

This is an amazing array of chaotic eye candy. So nicely done -- especially to me the green on the Nurgle troops. Just spectacular.

I enjoy your conversions and you've inspired me to kitbash my DV chosen with some extra chaos pieces lying around.

Thank you, keep it going this is stellar work.

So i've spend the last two days almost exclusively converting my formations for the upcoming Battle.

15 Raptors and a Raptor Lord for the Raptor Talon.

I might change their loadout to 4 Plasma Guns and 2 Melters, i'm not entirely sure at this point.

Five out of nine Terminators for my Terminator Annihilation Force plus a Sorcerer / Typhus conversion. The other Terminators are coming from a four man termicide squad that i had finished before starting this blog.

I kept myself busy over the last few days, got through the whole paint-by-numbers baselayers stuff in two days, just finished up with the first layer of shades on both formations. The time-out that i took in the last week won't last, though. I'm planning to at least finish my basic thesis before the 8th Edition hits - because who knows what might happen then...

So, my Death Guard Raptor Talon. Unfluffy as they might be (at least in the eyes of some), they fulfill an imporant role on the battlefield, one that i lacked in the past. Here we have three squads, each with two special weapons: Squad 1 with two Melters and Squad 2 & 3 with two Plasma Guns each. No special loadout for the champions for now, might give them something later after getting some experience on the field with them.

The Raptor Talon formation also comes with a Lord with a snazzy Jump Pack for free, so of course i converted one! This guy only got the most basic loadout: A bolt pistol and a melee weapon (although it's huuge). His arms are magnetized, so i still might add some special gear later on. For now, i wanted to keep him cheap.

And then there is the Terminator Annihiliation formation. These are three squads with three guys each. Two combi-melters and power axes (aka. scythes) and a champ with a chainfist in each squad. It's a very basic termicide loadout, meant to disrupt and annoy the enemy, giving them a target that will (hopefully) take a lot of firepower to bring down while being hard to ignore. They will be accompanied by a nurgle sorcerer (with a free termintor armour, yay) who is also my stand-in for Typhus - at least until he gets reincarneted in the forseeable future.

With my last big battle in 7th edition being due tomorrow, the last unfinished units are slowly but surely getting close to being finished.

The terminators still need a few hazard marks, highlights here and there and a bit of sponging, but i'm already happy with the spoiled, corrupted look that they sport.

I also decided to take an old project of mine off the shelf and touch it up a bit with a few techniques that i picked up in the last few years. The plague hulk is a lovley and highly detailed model, and i doubt i will fully do it justice in the next 36 hours, but i'll give it my best shot and at least produce something tabletop-ready.

It's another week, another update.

Finished three squads of Terminators, a Terminator Sorcerer and a Plague Hulk. Pretty good i'd say!

The first squad is led by the Chaos Champion Kurl. Armamends for all three squads are the Same, with the Champion sporting a Combi-Bolter and a Chainfist and his two companions being armed with Power Scythes (aka. Axes) and Combi-Meltas.

Next up is Squad Gixion, led by the towering Gixion himself.

And last but not least, the final Squad is led by the belcherous Champion Jarzos.

Accompanying these three is the Traveller himself, Typhus. Or a mere Nurgle Sorcerer in Terminator armour - depending on my points in that respective list.

Finally, the Plague Hulk is completed. The rites of binding, fusing the greater Daemon of Nurgle Blegh'Ragh to the chassis of a Chaos Defiler, have been completed, the sacrifices have been made, and the unholy daemon engine of nurgle is finally ready to enter battle.
