Hi all, hoping I could get some feedback from people on a few units.
Looking for a big centrepiece model for a destruction army but want to get one that has potential for doing decent damage.

The units I'm looking at are:

Rogue Idol
Magma Dragon
Dread Maw

Hoping people have some advice on these or even other destruction beasts.
So any and all advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

The Rogue Idol is, at least on paper, a pretty good unit damage-wise, but the randomness of the movement and charge restriction means that a clever opponent can keep it away from his most precious units. Still it's dead orky and I think it'd fit in great in any orruk army.

I think Dread Maws big advantage is being able to appear where you want it. Good for taking out backfield artillery pieces, that you perhaps cannot get to easily, especially if you have little to no ranged damage.

Another one to consider which you have not mentioned is the Colossal Squig. It has a pretty heft damage potential as well, but is not nearly as durable as the Idol. Still it's very thematic, especially with grots, and certainly worth considering due to its speed and damage output.

I do not have experience with the dragon or maw, but I love my Rogue Idol. It's loads of fun - wipe out entire units, never die... however, if your opponent knows what it's all about, it's easily removed from the game.
I like running full Greenskinz, though. I've actually used the re-roll 1s for my shaman's casting rolls, and the extra bravery is nice! Super orcy, super fun.
So, if you're running full Greenskinz, get the rogue idol. If you are running moonclan and want to add more unreliability and chaos to your game, get the rogue idol. If you want to win at all costs... go with one of the others. The idol has more potential, I think, but since it is easily distracted with its must charge/can't retreat, and generally unreliable in movement and damage, it might end up doing dick all for a game.

The maw is great. Essentially a 4d6 move (with the destruction ability) and great damage paired with a 3+ then a 4+. I have yet to put together my Magma Dragon but he fits in perfectly in my 2.5k list as the last 520 and on paper he is damn good. My idol has had some bad games and is almost always targeted first...like moving 8inches total and then missing the charge bad :( not to say I wont use him ever again, but for 40 less points imma take my Maw

I'm pretty sure the Dread Maw has showed up in some successful tournament lists, and the Magma Dragon definitely makes melee-only armies weep.

Cheers for all the comments

Completely forgot about the squig too, and I own one already!
The way it's going I'm tempted to try out the magma Dragon and see how it works.
Seems like a good potential for sheer damage.
