If you build more than a couple of Knight variants you end up with extra reaper chain swords, to put a more aggressive weapon on my Knight Gallant I decided to graft two swords together. This proved simple to do as the panel lines on the sword body make for easy cutting points. When you cut the sword the interior is hollow, allowing you to put a piece of platicard inside the joint of the new blade, increasing the strength of the joint and allowing it to stay straight as the glue dries. Then just a little green stuff to clean up the new joint can be done, but if you cut and fit carefully you might not even need that. Hope this is helpful!

Looks simple enough to do, and gives the model some much needed reach.
