Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

So I have decided to do a conversion of the GK Brother Captain into... A Slaanesh Lord. Now before you say "Fluff killer!", this is based off of the Silver Knight in the Daemon codex which is corrupted by Slaanesh.

I have been meaning to do this for ages and now I have all the parts I need including:
-a Brother Captain
-Juggernaught of Khorne spare parts
-Exalted Sorceror spare parts
-Green stuff

What I was thinking was to do a 'split' down the model, one half GK the other mutated and corrupted, to represent the split as the GK continues to fight corruption even after being touched by Slaanesh.

Now what I wanted to ask was your opinions on the colour scheme and how much mutation there should be on his corrupted half. I was thinking either a lightning esk split or should I go for a more gradual mutation into the GK half. Should I paint the colour in Slaaneshy pinks and purples or would a different colour scheme look better? Should I only have a couple of tentacles on his mutated half or should I have fully mutated arms, legs, etc. or should I have no visible mutation besides colour?

This is my first 'big' conversion project so all advice is welcome.

"Silver knight" implies he's gleaming chrome. Though as he was once a Grey knight, you could do a Two Face style paintjob. With one half being Grey Knight colours and the other half being pink with mutations

That's what I was thinking of, although I want to make sure I don't go over the top with the mutated half (then again, it is Slaanesh so over the top might be the way to go).

Ooh absolutely love the idea of a Two-Face style corrupted Grey Knight

Looking forward to this

How do you think I should style the split? A jagged lightning like cut or a more gradual transition, almost like a disease?

A more gradual transition would probably look better, but would be harder to both model and paint. Not that there's anything wrong with being ambitious!

What's your plan for the model itself?

I was leaning towards the gradual aproach anyway to try to make it seem as if the corruption is crawling its way across the knight's body.

What's your plan for the model itself?

Currently I have sawed an exalted sorcerors arm in half and I have molded a crewd mark of Slaanesh onto the end of it, I am waiting for it to dry a bit so that I can attempt to carve some runes into it and tidy it up a bit. I am a novice when it comes to green stuff molding but I am going to give it a go. I am also going to make a few tentacles to attach to the model.

Should I do anything else with the actual model, vefore painting, or do you think that's enough.

So the rune Slaanesh mark ended staff has gone... Iffy at best. I used two coins to create the circular shape and free handed the end. There are same runes on it transferred from a disc of Tzeentch I had lying about.

Should I bin this attempt and try again?

If you want a Slaanesh staff end, I suggest you look into the icons of the Daemonettes and Hellstriders of Slaanesh kits; they're quite detailed and you can probably find them on a bits site somewhere so you don't have to buy the whole kit. You can even choose which hand you'd like to replace, as the Daemonettes' staff is right-handed while the Hellstriders' one is left-handed

Speaking of the Hellstriders, maybe you could use one of their bare heads as well for that 'gradual corruption' look, as some of them have a horn growing on one side but no other obvious facial corruption

Tactical_Spam: Ezra is fighting reality right now.

War Kitten: Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...

Yes it might just be better to buy the mark cause this green stuff is being a pain.

The model I am converting is a brother captain so I can't remove his head (and I wouldn't want to attempt to in case it all goes wrong!). I could try to craft a GS horn coming through his helmet though...

My knight now has a tail, three tentacles and a horn on the right side of his head. He will be getting an icon of Slaanesh for the end of his staff as soon as I can order one.

Does he need anything else or is he ready for painting? I feel like anymore would be cluttered but I would like people's opinions.

Looks pretty good to me, any chance you can take a better picture of him? It's a bit hard to see the details

Finished! The mark of Slaanesh came in the post today and he is now finished: the Silver Knight.

(Just a heads up, I don't have a proper camera for close up model pics, in fact this is the first model I have built and painted souly for the sake of painting, so sorry about the quality of the picture and/or the model)

I would really appreciate it if some of the more experienced painters here could give me a couple of tips.
