I have a Battlehost tournament coming up at 2000 points and am wondering if I should switch out a few things, but here's my tentative army list for now:

320 Archaon on horse

140 Jugger Lord (to make Archaon and others wound +1 better)
140 Mighty Lord of Khorne (to make Archaon and others roll 3 dice/pick 2 highest when charging)
100 Five Blood Warriors
300 angry fiery Hellcannon

140 Slaanesh Lord on Daemon Mount (to make Archaon attack twice per turn)
120 Ten Daemonettes
300 splendiforous Hellcannon

300 Fateweaver (for potential double-turn)

80 Wulfrik the Wanderer (to take the Marauders across the sea and around any table edge)
60 Ten Marauders


I'm torn between taking Scyla Anfingrimm and the Mighty Lord of Khorne. Scyla has some speed, more wounds, potentially many more attacks, and the leaping pile in. Mighty Lord has the nice command ability (roll 3 dice for charging pick the 2 highest), and the magic bullet axe which seems nearly as awesome as Archaon's sword, but he's slower and with less wounds.

I was also considering switching out the Daemonettes and Blood Warriors for just 2 more units of Marauders which would save me 100 points. If I do that, and take Scyla instead of Mighty Lord, I could also take a Deathshrieker Launcher (the Chaos Dwarf rocket artillery). What say ye?!

I think you will need a way to protect archaon some more, like having a chaos lord with mark of tzeentch with that possible extra 100 pts? It will bring Archaon's save with mystic shield and cover to 1+with re-rolls of 1's. And the chaos lord is often an underestimated threat. Mine finished off a terrorgheist with unleashed daemon from his blade last weekend in a tournament.

If your opponent can snipe Archaon early game , your entire synergy falls and you will be in serious trouble and I do not think many opponents will make the mistake of not thinking that Archaon is the major threat.

I do no know if there are cheap ways to protect him more against mortal wounds.

With the extra marauders, one of those units can bubblewrap the hellcanon so that it can not run away.

So I looked at the Chaos Lord, and he can only affect models with the Slaves to Darkness keywords, and neither big nor little Archaon has those. Is that the same in other people's app?

But I did notice the Sorcerer Lord has Oracular Vision which can do the same thing, and he has a Daemonic Power spell to buff another model. So I think I'll switch out Might Lord of Khorne for him.

If I don't turn 1 that'll suck, hopefully there will be some decent terrain again to hide behind. My Hellcannons would like that too

idd his ability is only slaves to darkness, my mistake. The sorecer lord will do fine I think. Try to get/convert one on horseback so that he can keep up with Archaon.
