Hello everyone! I am new to 40K and am building my armor. I have a captain wearing terrminator armor with a combi-melta and a chainfist. Now I know that it legal, but how would I total the points for that? Does terminator armor have a specific point value? Because it says in the codex that "a captain may replace......for terminator armor, storm bolter and power sword." Since I do not have those weapons, do I subtract the point value for the storm bolter and power sword and just add combi-melta and chainfist into my total points?
Same question for my chaplain in artificer armor. Since he is carrying a plasma pistol and Crozius arcanum (considered a power weapon unless I'm mistaken), do I subtract what he would carry according to the codex and just add points for the weapons I do have?\

Thanks for the help!

The way you read it, is like this:

1. You took a captain! He costs you probably 90 points.

2. You took the terminator, storm bolter, power sword upgrade. These are a "bundle." The cost is 30 points.

3. Now, your captain is wearing terminator armor, so he has access to a set of weapons and equipments. You can then replace the power sword, and the storm bolter, with legal equipments, each one having a specific cost.

So your base cost for your unit is 120, then add in the cost of the combi melta and the chain fist. (Although I don't know if that's a valid terminator armor load out, I don't have my codex in front of me).

No subtractions on the swaps, just pile the points onto the cost of the model.

Terminator armor has points, should be on a table - I think it can be found before all the gear is listed. Should have the cost of armors, personal vehicles and various "standard" weapon upgrades.

I always have trouble finding the chart myself - GW's organization of the codexes is actually pretty inefficient.

It never ends well

combi melta and chainfist is a legal combination.

Because you took terminator armor, you gain access to the terminator weapons list, which lets you replace your storm bolter with a combi melta, and lets you replace your power fist with a chain fist.

Have fun purging the enemies of the Imperium!

Thanks for posting this!

So assuming you're playing some form of space marines like mine, you have the following costs:

1. Cost of a captain; 90
2. Cost of terminator armor, power sword, storm bolter; 30
3. Cost of combi-melta; (10? someone check?)
4. Cost of Chainfist; (15? someone check?)

and you'd add it all up.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are no rebates. You buy the options from the entry/chart, replacing what it asks, and paying the points.

Once you upgrade to terminator armor, it changes which charts you can get stuff from. The things it wants to to swap out are different, and there are different prices.

But for things like the chapter relics chart, it requires you to swap out a weapon for most of the picks there. It doesn’t care if you give up a chainsword or a power sword. Point cost is the same.

Yes, so a captain in Termi armor with the aforementioned loudout costs 140 points (combi meltas are 5 points for a captain ).
