Hey all, wanted to try out a stationary army since most of my armies are highly mobile (Ravenwing, Dark Eldar, Harlequins). So I figured an artillery line Imperial Guard list would be interesting. Just wanted some opinions on what to take with an ‘Emperor’s Wrath’ Artillery Company.

Points might be slightly off as I made the lists half asleep.
Any suggestions or advice would be great!

I don't believe list 1 is legal. Only one troops. Could take a 10 man strong of vets for it to make the required 2 troop choices.

List 1 and 2, no second Troop. Also no HQs...

List 2 is fine, it's two formations from the Mont'ka book.

Not sure what I was doing in List 1 but I would probably swap one of the infantry squads for a Company Command Squad and run that as an Allied Detachment.

Ahhh, gotcha (on the formation). Might oughta' mention that next time. Altho I guess that's what the 'Emperor's Shield' tag refers to? Confusing for us old folks, don't ya know?

Yeah that is the 'Emperor's Shield' Formation, will make sure to include the 'Formation bit next time aha.

So what do you think? Vets in Chimera, Militarum Tempestus, or more bodies?

Also if more bodies what are people's experiences with conscripts?

I've always been a fan of more bodies, but not sure how effective that is these days. Not sure what you can add to the formations.
Deep-striking suicide Scions with meltas work fairly well, depending on what Interceptor capabilities your opponent has.
If you have them, you could spam Chimeras for all the Infantry squads, build a nice wall in front of you artillery.
Vets in Chimeras with melta or plasma are a decent choice.
Also, might add additional artillery, bump at least the Wyverns battery up to two. Eight small blasts (reroll to hit, reroll to wound) can cause a lot of wounds...

Thinking out loud I might make up a list with vets in chimeras and some suicide scions since artillery won't be holding down objectives any time soon, maybe making use of the 'Emperor's Blade' Formation. I haven't had a chance to play with IG yet. Are Wyverns as good as their hype makes them out to be?
