Loving the admech stuff!!
Could you give a quick explanation on how you did your oxidation on the thanatar's mortar? It looks incredible!

Well thanks guys I'm glad I didn't disappoint anyone too much! they were all a blast to paint up and wave 3 will be suitably epic as well! I really love that metal finish too so much so that I might be using it on my own army this year and did anyone see the secret addition? I thought you'd be all over it by now!

The basic rundown on my metals is depending on the grime I want. black undercoat with a metal primer over the top then it's just washes washes washes.....and paint I start with Agrax, then Black then I add scratches and discoloration then I use Sepia, darken recesses with black again then scratch again and wash sparingly with Agrax again, I use thinned orange paint as a wash for rusts and for the Thanatar gun I used P3 Beaten purple in a few watered layers followed by a royal blue to get the burned look. then I washed it all with purple wash and highlighted

can't wait to see what the year brings us all and where the hobby goes, interesting times ahead I think (especially Cadia)

and in regards to the Annual Nerdcademy awards, you are correct, it is indeed nearly time for another one! I just need to find some models boxed for 2nd place and get another trophy printed! anyone want to donate

Secret addition? It's got to be the plinth, right, it's the only thing I see in the pics other than models!

Nerdy's epic post of awesome pictures spoilered below so you don't have to jump back a page to look

Spoiler:
Hey guys! welcome back happy new year to everyone and I hope you all had a fun and safe holiday season with your families! so this post is my introduction into 2017 you may (or may not) have been wondering where i've been lately well, i've been busy, lots of shifts at work and that along with the season it's just been crazy but I have not neglected my duty of being a guardian of the sacred brush and as such I have built and finished wave 2 of RiTides admech force

yes yes I know, "where are the updates?" well, I kinda only had a chance to get up early and paint for a while but not really enough time to take pics and update so you have my apologies in that regard and I shall endeavour to remedy that situation from here on in!

but I guess by now you're wondering what an earth I actually painted? ........

heaps......of.......cool.......stuff!

how about a Thanatar with a 'head swap' to start!

how about a FW Vulturax!

or maybe some Pew Pew guns!

or perhaps 4 fun little characters are more your thing?

Now, the next few shots are legs..... Rook legs to be more accurate and they are going to be the stand in Krios tanks but i'm waiting on the bodies to arrive, we mucked around with a conversion to a turret for them but decided against it and went with the originals instead.

.

here we have some jump pack Pew Pews! cool looking squad and should do well!

and finally some troopy troops from Anvil Industry these robots are very decent quality!

well I really hope you guys like the first update of the year! with many many more to come i'll just leave you with the comment, "It's been 3 days and still they haven't noticed me...."

The legs belong to the model pictured below, and the transport model next to it is the only "big" model in the last wave for nerdy to do with some sweet alternate myrmidons to ride in it:

Spoiler:

The big models are from Industria Mechanika, and the Myrmidons are from Wargame Exclusive . Should round out the army really nicely with nerdest's awesome work!!

Oh shoot, totally missed that

Yeah, that's temporary... sending a new head as soon as Anvil Industries casts them up! (Was missing one, so Damo put in an infiltrator it seems... lol).

Really wonderful stuff damo. That head swap is magnificent and I can't tell you how jealous I am of that Admech flyer and those servitors. Just awesome.

Amazing work on these guys Damo. I utterly love your metals and weathering, and if I ever get around to doing my AdMech, you can expect that I'll totally be ripping off your style...

So, since I had a couple of days where I could have a break from painting I naturally started painting again this time I've begun a model for my Imperial Fists army Brother constantine, Contemptor Dreadnought! I tried a different way of weathering so far, I see a lot of painted on cracks and chips so I thought i'd try it properly on him and see how i go, doesn't look too bad when paired with my usual way

I'm waiting on another fist to arrive for him and i'm trying to find a plain contemptor head online but can't find one yet (I lost mine) so I'll paint what i can until then.

What do you think so far?

Looking good there. The contrast of the chips and scratches to the yellow is perfect.

Wow, really great looking contemptor - even if he is missing parts!

You've pulled off those scratches really well. They're in logical places and it's not overdone. And they have great depth.
