Looks more like Alpha Legion than Ultra.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against it. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the end comes.

If thats the Tamiya clear blue I'd be tempted to give it another coat, have done 15th Legion using the red, it gets a lot better with a 2nd coat, much richer.

Did wonder on metallic smurfs, using the VMA "Artic Blue" as a base

Not bad, though yeah I agree it could probably use another coat or two, Tamiya clears benefit from having some depth to them.

Also I'd throw on some preshading, maybe hit the model with a GW black wash (perhaps a gloss one?) before spraying the Tamiya clear. It's hard to coerce the paint in to the crevices when you airbrush it, a fact which becomes even more apparent on clears because the shallower areas show up as being lighter in tone. That means preshading is more important under a clear than it is under other colours.

Are you not bothered by the mould line on the catathractii terminator. I do love the colour though. I think red and orange claws would look brilliant with the metallic blue.

so the metallic blue is really hard to paint over as you can clearly see. part of that is my skill part of it's my brush and part of it is getting paint to stick.

so here's a question as I have them now they don't have chapter markings.... the gold trim is a bit sloppy. I can do the insides white to clean them up and make them fulminations or live with the slop and go ultras.....

The gold needs to be gold, not green. Green and blue isbalpha legion. Blue and white is ultra marines.

Tamiya clears are a pain to paint over, found two coats of a base gold nails it though, a brush on primer in deep brown could work as well.

Now you have the gold on liking them a lot more.

Found an oil wash worked well on my CSM with metallic red, may help done as a pin wash round the edges
