Hey all,

So you asked for a group shot of the 388th Grand Company well here it is! I also did some other work too...start my warpsmith fourth squad is still in primer being very unexciting but i am getting closer to being completed for now i have a new army project in the works that should prove very cool. this next project will test my abilities as a painter, a modeler, and well my lack of gs fu.so should be an interesting adventure to say the least. I also did a little bit of work on my lord commissar nothing worth showing as of yet. any way not much else to talk about as of right now so on to pictures!

im glad i spent the better part of an afternoon working on him i really like the brown and yellow i picked up im gonna be sad when i run out of leviathan purple though.

so in hobby news...i threw some marines in to a bath as to nurglefy them built two more also so that will bring me up to 14 plague marines and a bike that if you havent figured out will be a lord on it...need some bits before i start that and get slightly better at my gs cause i want him to come out perfect...or as perfect as a plague lord would come out...

so yea gonna take a break from the iron warriors and get this up to a decent amount...now if i could only find a metal typhus....then i could do the second phase of the plan....but for now marines work.

in other news my twenty cultists came in gonna wait on painting them the nurgle bug has me at the moment...

Finecast is perfect for nurgle. It's like customized plauginess. Picture turned out much better, so did the death guard guy.

The nurgle marine is probaly a huge leap in your painting prowess...looks very dry compared to all the shines iron warriors. The chaos lord looks amazing...the claw is an incredible bit, eh? And the soon to come minis the stuff you showed primered... Choas sure does have very good looking models...and you give them respect with your painting!

Yea vik nurgle is pretty fun to paint...im enjoying them quite alot had a good instructor too that specializes in all things nurgle. gonna keep pushing the envelope with all the nurgle stuff.

yea i have no idea what set that claw is from but it worked out great for a lighting claw.

i dunno about respect but i do put a lot of work in to them. just trying to make a quality mini.

in hobby news so far i have three plague marines made and working on them to make them better. going to strip the mninis in the bath in a little while then wait for them to dry then primer after nurglefying them...

needed a break from painting all that silver. still in the planning stages for my biker lord like i said earlier i need a few bitz before i get started on him...cant get bits till this comming up friday...so all in due time...this is going to be a slow moving project to say the least. but it will be worth it when i get it done. i think i need two rhinos to carry my plague marines in.

also stole my very bottom string off my bass guitar so now i have some guitar wire to make hoses...should be interesting to say the least.

well... i see why you need to have a break with the IW... but your army is one of the few that actually make me think to turn my SM army currently known as the iron templars into IW...i really like the look of them, and the only thing currently keeping me from actually doing so is that my son (whom this army is for...would see it as bob the builder army for all those hazard stripes ...)

Well I suck at hazard stripes so that's why they are on vehicles only...wanted to do them on my hellbrute but i thought i would muck that up so i didn't do it...how ever the worn slight rust look i have going on looks pretty awesome.

well another update on my plague marines three are done of 14...not too shabby if i say so myself. i didn't realize how long each marine would take holy crap lol. I am also gonna try and base every thing too another first as you all know i don't normally base my models but i thought i would give it the old college try. the basing kits gw put out are kinda neat and seem to be on the level. So with trusty school glue, sand and this kit i went to basing the first three plague marines...and easy thing to do i don't know why i don't do it more often...lord i have lots of models to base lol. next group of plague marines i'm gonna try a new technique...but first holes and other fun stuff like gs.

I have a question for you all should i take the rhino i bought for my iron warriors and give it to my plague marines? its still in the box so not to worry about repaint or anything like that. in theory i need like 4 more rhinos plus the iw doors from fw. it would give me a start to my plague marines army. again new techniques and other fun stuff if i do the rhino for the plague marines or i can paint it silver...and i really need a break from silver so i think this will go to the plague guys still open for suggestion though so no worries.

Any rate thats what i have at the moment taking stock of what to do next of fun i should have more to show later today or tommorrow but i do need your help on the rhino situation so thoughts and ideas are welcomed.

Nurgley things are looking good. The colours work well.

As to the rhino, I can't really tell you what you should do. But think about if the IW need the rhino. If not, give it to pappa nurgle. On the other hand, you don't want to paint it for the IW and then not really use it AND have to buy another one for nurgle...

as to your advice...honestly they dont need it as i have three iw rhinos for the campaign im in i need a fourth rhino...but the nurgley bits seem much more enticing. well watch this space for a nurglfied rhino...that will begin after i finish a squad of marines...my hate for tanks has diminished some. they are a necessary evil.

Seems nurgle marines is really your cuppa tea...those look really good. I see you tried your hand in gs? Nice! The scheme suits you it seems to me. I say if you feel like it, then nurgle the rhino up... You need a good idea how to tho... Have you ever used pva and put some drops of super glue on the not cured pva? That could work for the nugle bases as well as for the rhinos bigger surfaces. Or you could add zits and stuff with gs like you did with the marines...

Yeah, it's really important to have a plan before starting something large like a tank.

Also, don't try to squeeze in too many large ideas onto one tank. I've seen quite a few (nurgle in particular) vehicles where people appear to have covered it in glue and rolled it in their bitz box and then mashed on several handfuls of GS.

Also some have tried to represent EVERYTHING nurgle on one tank. It's ok to take only one or two elements and "theme" a vehicle. That leaves something to do on the next one.

Just my thoughts.

like i said i talked to a guy extensivly about nurgle and he pointed me in the right direction... gotta say though painting nurgle is easy and hard all at the same timeand i dont even use fancy sculpting tools tooth picks and ends of paint brushes.

letting the new technique dry now i think this is gonna be an even better marine...now if i could only sculpt fur i'd be in the business lol.

actually when i make gs balls and let them cure over night then chop them in half to make boils and zits and the like gonna go but a brita water filter this comming up friday for more nurgley goodness. would like to get the next part of the project started after i get the two squads done...should be an interesting adventure to say the least but first lets concentrate on marines then worry about other parts of the project later...

actually once you have GS in a smaller not too thin layer on something getting fur is not that hard... i made extra hair for my minis already...it is quite doable... many tuts about fur making out there!

allright guys didnt do squat today was very...well unfocused. dont know why but i was...so i decided to tidy my area up some then i found my skaven models and i think im gonna paint some ratmen up. I also put my name in the hat for a tale of four gamers.

so far the armies are skaven (me), empire army(creator of the thread), feral(savage) orcs and chaos deamons of slaanesh. should be interesting not too sure what will happen but its gonna happen. looking forward to this....totaled up my skaven and top out at 731 and one i cant run until i get more dudes/high point level. again im kinda excited by this...nothing wrong with power armor but a billion little ratmen seem mighty awesome right now...the other option for me to paint was my lizard men and to make that more awesome i would have to get the army book and cool stuff and the new lizard cool stuff is very expensive...also thought about starting up dark elves but again new stuff need army book and new models to go with it....so lizards and dark elves were kinda out cause of expense...my skaven on the other hand one of the cheaper armies to start. plus i have the isle of blood skaven half so all is not lost.

would like another copy of isle of blood for another poisoned wind mortar and more bodies. so the plan is to get a battalion box, a box of plague monks and a warp lighting cannon.

but that is what is up for the hobby stuff for now gonna do some fantasy for a while.

I started my entire GW history with shaven, wish I never got rid of them. Here was a wine an cheese store in he same plaza as my game shop. The owner looked at me funny when I asked him for a list of cheese types. All my shaven had a cheesy name .

lol nice...so far my skaven clan is led by a warlord named shim of clan fittzzle and his right hand man is a warlock engineer named batzle. they are a small clan but they have vigor

This month I committed to Skaven Warlord, Warlock Engineer, Master Moulder and 20 Spearmen. Hopefully i get it all done. Not too worried about it I have faith and Faith is all that matters.

Well things are going good...for the most part...I'm also trying to improve my health and that isn't going so well this quitting smoking thing is hard...working on it...only had 3 this morning so far. So thats a step in the right direction. My job that i was doing ended last thursday so back to being unemployed...called the agency on tuesday as monday was a holiday and said i was available for work.

In hobby news i put up the power armor for a while...i was fearing burnout of 40k so i cut my self off...so some fantasy is needed. Mind you I have two armies for fantasy...Lizard men and skaven...well i needed a lot for both of them but i really dig the ratmen and i didnt feel like buying a new army book so thats why I am doing them for this tale of gamers.

In the tale of gamers we have 3 fantasy armies and like 5 40k armies... hoping another fantasy army pops up.

Great News Everybody!

I finished the first squad of chuckle heads man that was kinda a pain...but it is done till i get my order of my ratmen. Not much else to report other than still working on ratmen. next up is a poisoned wind mortar, rat ogre, and five guys from the other squad mainly the command squad so two dudes musician and banner bearer.

Forgot to take a picture of the musician i left him inside but you know he is there. so when i pick up my order of ratmen there will be a picture of everything...gonna try and assemble all of it on sat and Sunday.

so i posed this question on the tale of gamers thread and was wondering does any one have any ideas on what i should base these guys in...i was thinking a swamp....to go with my lizard men. but my main two opponents are high elves and vampire counts.

one person on the thread suggested i do meadows. it is a thought and i saved the link to check it out at a later date. concept seems easy enough. my first thought was dirt and snow as i have them both readily available. i also have a badlands kit to make desert type bases...not really feeling that very much. ill figure something out though. any way would love to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Here's an idea for basing your Skaven. I don't want to say it directly, but consider this- paint your bases a dark muddy brown, then think about what the ground would look like after thousands of vermin were to run all over it leaving ... 'presents'.

That is how you should base your models. And the best part is that it works on any tabletop in any weather / climate as they bring their 'flock' with them everywhere they go.
