Dysartes wrote:Nice Japanese, malfred - any chance of a group shot of them completed?

And will you be trying to achieve any painting goals in 2010?

Dysartes: Probably eventually. I don't have the figs for the completed army.

This is a painted Anima Tactics fig. A bunch of Anima Tactics stuff went through a bad
shot of primer that was grainy, and like an idiot I decided to paint it rather than put it
through the simple green. Went with the red/green on this one because I thought the
light green on the fig might help pull off the color combination without making it too
gaudy.

Anyway, if you know what the name of the fig is, a post here would be nice. I haven't
looked at the anima tactics stuff in a good long while.

Goal in 2010: Learn to take better pictures.

Bah, forgot to answer your question.

15mm is VERY easy and lets me be sloppier than normal. (colors, wash, highlight).

28mm has prettier minis.

Prefer? Dunno.

Very helpful, Farmer.

malfred, your unidentified Anima: Tactics figure is Tsubasa Kuokami - fourth entry on this page.

Are the orphans Malifaux as well, or are they a different range?

Thanks you two. Very helpful.

I plan on painting more Anima Tactics stuff just because the models are so sweet. Maybe
I'll put some of them in the simple green though. I had a bad batch of spray.

Going to try to close out this blog for the year between today and tomorrow, posting
final pictures of the last models completed.

Here's the start of a Skorne block of pictures. First, the Tyrant and Standard Bearer.

Your skill at painting is good. How do you keep it looking so clean and crisp for lack of a better word. You can't see splotches or primer underneath the paint. How do you accomplish this?

Nice Lady Justice by the way

Tip 1: Never take close ups of your minis and never let anyone within the 3'
zone of your mini. There are splotches. There are places with primer showing
through. No, I'm not going to show you with my camera

Seriously, I don't paint for competition, just for the tabletop. There are a number of
things I'd have to do if I wanted to compete, and I think the most important rule was
given to me in a class run by akarenseth (Mat Fontaine) "Display pieces are not game
pieces."

I paint game pieces.

binky wrote:Nice Lady Justice by the way

The contrasts don't work out so well, unfortunately. It's hard to tell where her arms
begin and end, especially since I didn't paint those long gloves white like her top to
contrast off the olive skin tones. Ah well.

Tacobake wrote:man those are some _nice_ looking Skorne.

Thanks, Taco. I can always count on you to bump a thread.

Anyway, here's another Skorne piece, the Cyclops Shaman. I believe there's several goofs
in this model, one of which being his eye. I just never finished it and forgot in my rush to
complete all my 2009 projects. Anyway. The Shaman.

Molik Karn. I do think the mask thing that everyone thought looked strange looks
fine as long as you can tell that it's a mask.

If you paint the skin color a similar color similar to the mask people are going to get confused.

I don't do these minis justice. I don't mean the photos, I mean my paint job doesn't
really show how cool the minis are. It's my usual get it done quick schemes.

Anyway, three more posts and this blog ends only for a new one to begin. Don't know
when I'll be able to get started on paint stuff.
