Subject: RSJake's World Eaters, Khorne Daemonkin, and all things Chaos!
I was actually going for "Bone" on the Shoulder Pads, Helmet, and Weapons. (Not virgins Vik, sheesh!)
The "Marble" look came from trying to make it look like it was cracked.
This color scheme was inspired by one of the examples in the Khorne Daemonkin Codex, "The Wrath" I think. But they had the torso black, and I didn't like that, so I altered it.
This is basically a "World Eaters" army, using the Daemonkin rules. Not prefect for a "Legion Dex" but I really like it so far. Super fun to play. Very "In your face", and that is prefect for me.
Hahaha! We'll see. I might stick with a more traditional paint scheme for Kharn, but I am planning on making a converted one...again...but this time I am not making him to monstrous proportions...that was a disaster!
I want to make a Kharn out of the FW Berzerker parts, and the legs and arms of the Aspiring Champion from the Dark Vengeance Chosen. Lots of modifications, and a scratch-built chain axe. I may actually be getting in over my head again. we'll see.
Sounds like a task but you should pull it off with your skills plus those FW berserkers are some pretty nice kits and I ain't a SM fan so that's saying something.
Hope your going crazy with the chain axe after all it's Kharn

a sword/axe...with a comb?...LOL...khorncomb...
captures the old school style quite good i have to say!
but your berzerkers look amazing... the bone and blood mix on their armour is very convincing!

It's been a while, but I have been busy. Not with hobby stuff. With Life stuff.
But in the last few days, I did get around to some modelling! I am trying to re-vamp Kharn the Betrayer.
Again.
I know last time I kind of went off the deep end.
I feared for my sanity.
Let's take a look back and see what that monstrosity looked like, shall we?
Spoiler:
*Shudder!*
Ugh! I've seen things on the ground at the dog park that looked better!
Anyway...this time will be more of a kitbash. I want to make Kharn look bigger, just not that big.
I'm going with Terminator legs, and re-doing his helmet again, and making a bigger backpack. Here are some WIP's of the helmet and backpack.
(sorry for crap pics, I sent them as Messenger photos, and then downloaded them. I'll take regular pics next time.)
And a little closer to done:
And here is the Axe WIP:
I was also waiting for these to show up, so I could use one of the bare torsos for Kharn:
When they did arrive, I cobbled this together:
I still have a lot to do, but I don't know if I should use this torso, or one of the others. Problem is, all the others seem to have the arms spread wide. I wanted a Rushing into the fray pose.
Any suggestions you guys have would be appreciated.
Good job Jake I like the way you have increased the size dramatically but still keeping the original concept
The only thing I could suggest is there anyway of altering the legs into a more running pose as the torso you have chosen looks pretty good, also maybe adding some GS edging to the chain axe and maybe some chains to the bottom of the axe to his arm.
Great job overall and good choice with the head really lifts the model.

Thanks LDD. I chose the legs because they were the only Chaos Termi legs I could find that were at least a little bit running. I wasn't happy with the torso, if it had been scaled baybe 150% bigger, it would have worked.
Now, I'm using a CSM torso, but up-scaling it by cutting it in half, and adding a 1mm sheet of plasticard. It's looking good so far. And for the arms, I'm giving him 2 bare arms, both Ork boys' arms.
It's not going to be the same pose as the test, but I'll get some pics up later today.
Thanks for the input LDD! Oh, and I have LOTS f chains, and skulls to adorn him with!
Automatically Appended Next Post: OK, so here is where Kharn is at the moment. I like this pose, and am going to stick with it.
I added lead weights to the base so even with this extreme pose, it is pretty stable.
Also, I got a bunch of Fantasy Choas Hounds on ebay for a great price, but I am not a fan of the look of them.
So, I am taking off the horns, and filling in the unsightly gap down the middle. And for the most part, re-working the tail.
Oh, and I am putting them on 50mm bases.
Let me know what you think!
Thanks,
RSJake

Nothing to update today, but I am going to be working on Kharn some more. I want to sculpt the big Skull Girdle around his waist, and the skulls on his knees. Lots of little touches that make Kharn, Kharn.
hmmmm.... honestly... i am not feeling the legs... i know he needs power armour...and the termy legs are bigger... but currently it is maybe the pose for me as well or the look...that doesn´t ring my bell...tho the chain kilt looks good... the exposed bare arm is win! and i like the axe arm and especially the axe as well... also the head is...understandable.. but i have to say... try to convert a gun from a shoota... that will look beefier...

Personally I prefered the first look better it seemed more aggressive, the new version looks a little like he is falling rather than running.
I like the Khorne Spawns they look pretty cool but a close up shot would be better mate for some reason I keep seeing as a rock band with guitars
I thought you painted them as skunks at first then read the text I actually quite liked the look with a white stripe down the middle and I agree they look better with the horns removed.
Thanks Shas! I've got some more pics below of my finished squads.
Vic, Yep, I upscaled everything but the Plasma Pistol! I should have worked on that. Thanks for pointing it out!
I think I found a good base pistol to work from. It is a shoota, and ironically, it's the shoota I cut off of the arm I used on Kharn in the first place!
Here it is next to a similar pistol to the one I have on Kharn right now.
I figure with some sculpting, some small wires and a few more rivets, it will look pretty good.
So, pistol aside, this is where I have Kharn right now:
And here is a close-up of one knee, and the girdle I'll sculpt a skull onto later:
And, for comparison, Old Kharn next to New Kharn:
And for something a little different, A semi-vanilla Khorne Lord with Jump Wings, and Kor'lath, the Axe of Ruin.
Also, my finished and based Warp Talons:
Finished and based Assault Terminators:
And my first finished and based squad of Flesh Hounds:
I am really excited to get these guys painted! Which will hopefully happen sometime this year! Woot!
Anyway, thanks for stopping by, let me know what you think,
RSJake
