hmm....can't seem to find the option indirect signature and it's already due to be delivered today per the tracking number. That's crazy that Fedex says it was picked up yesterday and is already in Minnesota today.

Do you have any intermediate steps? The tracking software had wrong estimates on it for the first shipment.

It's been really fun the few times I've played it. Really reminds me of the feelings I had when I first played 40k 2nd back in like 1993 or so.

An opportunity missed IMO was not flooding FLGSs with the mini-rulebook for 2.0 around the time that 40k 7th was announced.
Could have potentially played off the annoyance and frustration that many players had with a 2 year edition of 40k and yet another round of updated codexes coming.
WP 2.0 ain't perfect but it is solid for what it provides.

What I posted, then deleted, then reposted:

Releasing a new rulebook, then releasing another ed less than a year later? Sounds awfully 7th ed to me.

I get where you are coming form, but I don't think that they thought that the game was ready with the current amount of support.

Wow! Next day delivery on my stuff. Came home to a giant box that made the wife's back hurt putting it into the house

As for Warpath I'm looking forward to more plastic and support for it. Also with fingers crossed of getting rid of those damn disc bases attached directly to the model!

Yeah, my suggestion rides on them standing with 2.0 for at least a couple of years versus releasing another edition.
IMO all it really needs is some army lists (tomb-bots, gamma empire (galactic force for good), that sort of thing) and they could go from there.
They haven't been shy about releasing the DZ rules in tiny dribs (rules-wise) expansions.

Don't forget those pesky time zones. Jets fly faster than those , still awesome speed in delivery.

I've mentioned to Ronnie that WP will be a harder sell because of the lack of analogous army lists, but that that is no reason to make them. In my own view, I really just don't like the idea of creating 40k-copies. If you wan 40k, go and play 40k. This, is Warpath

Agreed...BUT...

...it would foolish to ignore the potential for extra sales given the costs associated with 40K and the ability to attract those lucrative "counts as" dollars!

We need a decent middle of the road? I mean, Corp, Enforcers, Forgefathers, Astarians and Marauders can all be 'counts as' quite well. Then you have rebs, plague, possibly Zz'orr that are not.

Generic is a better word than copy.

Yeah hell, most of what i spend are counts-as dollars. My corporation marines were going to be counts-as guardsmen for a long time.

Hell if they're doing next-day fasty shipping still, i may have my stuff the day before gencon then... or i mean.. the day before the day two months after gencon I'm just waiting for the lightning to strike twice.

The second one had around $300 worth of stuff. 9 Battlezones (the backordered ruins from the first), 2 of the extension battlezones, 4 striders (because they can be converted and were cheap), and 85 zombies for someone who went in on it for me. Box hurt the wifes back

As a sidenote I spent 6 hours clipping sprues....So much terrain....

And no Alpharius, no FF or Asterians. I feel burned half the time by the actual model discounts from Mantic after watching the KoW kickstarter and my characters I got in the first wave costing more than retail. So I bailed on models and went all in on terrain.

Smart move - congrats!

I do absolutely love the DZ terrain.

I think I'll be sticking with terrain and hard plastic minis only going forward.

And maybe just terrain, as I've got too much for too many games stuff now as it is!

Not a great attitude to have. People might just decide to stay on with 40k instead.

I certainly won't be playing Warpath unless there's a good and easy conversion to use my existing models as I have with KoW. The upshot is that I've bought quite a lot of Mantic KoW figures as well, that live happily with my WHFB and LotR models in my KoW armies. Let's hope Ronnie is more far-sighted than yourself.

I understand the camps:

one camp is like- do something unique! who needs Necron-style-Warpath-evil-space-robot army list for Warpath? Warpath should do it's own thing and let Warpath be successful! (criticism: Mantic is REALLY DUMB for not catering to all the 40k players... MANTIC... ALMOST.)
And the other camp- be sure to make as many analogs to 40k as possible so anyone can play! (wow Mantic is just a big copy of GW! look at Mantic ripping them off and riding on their coattails! MANTIC... ALMOST.)

I believe the answer is: let there be army lists for Mantic's official factions in the Warpath universe. There will be some obvious crossovers (Enforcers :: Space Marines, Corporation :: Imperial Guard, etc). Basically, the way it is now, And then - get this - I know, revolutionary - an army building points system. Seriously, has anyone looked at KoW and Warpath? The games have so few special rules, so few numerical stats, it would be one of the easiest games to make an army creation/points value system for. Then you could field whatever you want. Just stat it up and the system tells you how many points it is based on what stats and abilities you gave the unit.

I think the points thing could be excellent, if done correctly. Weren't the vehicle design rules for fw/40k kind of... problematic?

WP stats are particularly light though, so it may be easier here.

Here's a points kit so you can stat up your army's models to play this off-brand sci-fi knockoff skirmish game*.

Here's ready made lists that largely match your army's models so you can play this off-brand sci-fi knockoff skirmish game*.

*Framed as many 40k fans will look at non-GW games.

While I think that would work well for gamers, I don't think Mantic would go for it. Why? Well, they're in the business of selling models, after all. If they go with "unique" factions they get to make and sell figures, and if they go with not-40k factions, they also get to make and sell figures.

The way I see it is they can be unique as they like as long as there's also a clear place for my existing models in their game. KoW might be a bit easier to do this with than WarPath, given that it's all about DBM-style elements with whatever models you like glued on top while 40k and skirmish-Warpath are much more about the individual models.

Those guys probably won't play WarPath anyway, and I'd say would already consider it a 40k knock-off - what with the not-Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Terminators, Squats, Orks, Eldar...

The rules might be there, but the models......Mantic can't control other companies speed.

Loving the terrain kits I've been building this weekend.

As for Warpath Mantic better get on it. If the "pundits" are right GW might collapse in the next 2 years and if they want to be a replacement they need to get the ball rolling.

Been hearing that line for the last decade, not gonna happen!

Ideally companies like Mantic are not the thing that kills GW, but rather the catalyst that makes them take their business seriously again.

As for the discussion in this thread, I think some of you are going to be very interested in Warpath and what happens with it.

I didn't say they would kill it. I said they would want to be in position to take the most advantage of the collapse should it happen. Meaning if it's as predicted they've got about 2-2.5 years to get stuff set

Oh, and after building stuff using the Fortications sprues it's the only battlezone I wouldn't recommend. They don't seem to fit the clasps things well at all.
