The whole service studs thing was a little insulting to be honest. The amount of reading you would have had to do in a short time period to achieve the 'free' book would have been colossal. So you would have need to be unemployed to have the reading time. Thankfully the book on offer didn't interest me in the slightest. Hopefully the last we see of these offers.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

few new/forthcoming release :

Assassin vs Assassin24/04/15
Another new Horus Heresy audiobook is available now, bringing the sinister Assassin clades into the war.
‘Nemesis’, by James Swallow, sees a group of Imperial Assassins sent on a mission to kill Warmaster Horus – but when they discover a Chaos-tainted killer hunting the Emperor, their mission takes a drastic turn.
This MP3 audiobook, packed with twelve hours of shadow warfare and revelations about the dark tactics of both sides, is available to download now.

What Lurks in the Shadows?24/04/15
The Mor Deythan – or Shadowmasters – are a secretive group within the Raven Guard, blessed (or perhaps cursed...) with their primarch’s ability to move unseen.
As the Legion wars against the corrupted tech-priests of a fallen forge world, the Shadowmasters are sent on a vital mission... This short audio drama shows another side of the Raven Guard and also a very different style of audio drama for Black Library, with minimal dialogue but even more attention than usual spent on building a soundscape that helps to tell the story.
‘The Shadowmasters’ is available now as an MP3 download, and you can listen to an exclusive extract below.

The Assassins Strike25/04/15
Watch the shadows… the Assassins are here. ‘Assassinorum: Execution Force’ is a new story based on the game of the same name.
A team of Assassins are sent to divert a catastrophe by killing a Chaos Sorcerer – but can they work together to find and defeat their foe? See through the eyes of all four Assassins as you find out.

This hardback novella by Joe Parrino is available to pre-order now.

This, of course, ties into the forthcoming box game.

War of the Assassins25/04/15
What happens when two Assassins go after the same target? You can answer that question soon by listening to the new audio drama, ‘Assassinorum: The Emperor’s Judgement’. A prequel to ‘Execution Force’, this audio drama by Joe Parrino sees Callidus and Eversor Assassins battling across a rainy, Chaos-tainted city.
To see (well, hear) what happens (hint: lots of brutal fighting), pre-order the MP3 now – and you can listen to an extract below.

Where Do Blood Angels Fear to Tread?26/04/15
Blood Angels. Daemons. Sanguinius duelling with a mighty Bloodthirster. Treachery, drama, sacrifice. Not just a list of random things, but all the essential elements of ‘Fear to Tread’, the classic Horus Heresy novel that is now available in hardback, complete with brand new illustrations and an afterword by author James Swallow.
You can order this latest addition to the Horus Heresy collector’s edition range now. It’s a big book, so remember to reinforce your bookshelves…

Preview of Assassinorum Action26/04/15
Four Imperial Assassins working together to bring down a Chaos Space Marine sorcerer. Sounds like a great story, doesn’t it? Well, you can find out in ‘Assassinorum: Execution Force’ by Joe Parrino, which is available to pre-order now. See through the eyes of Eversor, Culexus, Callidus and Vindicare operatives as they try to enter the Temple of Shades and stop Severin Drask from dooming the Achyllan system… Check out the extract for a taste of what is to come.

I enjoyed Nemesis, was nice to see the inner workings of the temples, and I found it hilarious that you can put an Eversor through cold turkey and make them vaguely sane...

There's one kinda cool sounding new HH short story :

http://www.blacklibrary.com/horus-heresy/ironfire-ebook.html

THE STORY
His body broken by the fall of the Schadenhold, the Iron Warriors warsmith Idriss Krendl is nonetheless far from defeated. Now commanding two of the mighty siege guns stolen from the forge world of Diamat, he seeks to redeem himself in the eyes of his primarch by bringing down the Great Selenic palace on Euphorus, and gather invaluable tactical data for the eventual assault on Terra. His plan? To utilise a strategy of his own devising – the glorious Ironfire protocol.

READ IT BECAUSE
Follow the continuing adventures of Iron Warriors Warsmith Idriss Krendl as he attempts to take down a giant palace with a pair of the enormous siege guns. We last met Krendl in the story The Iron Within, where he went head to head with the loyalist Dantioch. After that humiliation, he's trying to recover his reputation with an audacious plan.

And they're also releasing some discounted HH bundles -- eformat only I'm afraid.

Has anyone heard any more about the second book in Dan Abnetts Eizenhorn Ravenor series? The first book keeps looking at me with a lonely look. It's pretty odd, I know he is busy but why start the flippin thing if he isn't going to finish it. Have BL ever done this before does anyone remember? Starting a series and never finishing it.

Is the next Eisenhorn X Ravenor novel set in the Horus Heresy or does it feature Gaunt's Ghosts? If not, that's probably the reason why it keeps getting pushed back.

Well, I finally got around to reading Damnation of Pythos, and I can safely say I'll never wear that book out from re-reading it. It does absolutely nothing to progress the Heresy story, and even as a standalone novel it was pretty poor. I have a sneaking suspicion it was originally a short story and was both padded out and adapted to fit the Heresy...

I think it would have been a great story to have had earlier on in the series, does help show/capture the unfolding horror as chaos slithers out from the shadows and wackiness unfolds.
.. but we've seen that a few times before here and there -- that little thing with the BA for example -- so not sure it adds too much now , as such.

THE STORY
Vulkan lies in state beneath the Fortress of Hera, and yet many of his sons still refuse to believe that he is truly dead. After a seemingly miraculous rescue by the Ultramarines, Artellus Numeon, once captain of the Pyre Guard, urges the other Salamanders on Macragge to leave Imperium Secundus and return their primarch’s body to the home world of Nocturne – there to be reborn in the flames of Mount Deathfire. But Numeon grapples endlessly with his doubts and fears for the future of the Legion, while their foes seek to carve out new destinies of their own...

ABOUT THIS BOOK
The Horus Heresy: Deathfire is released in July 2015. To be amongst the first to know when it goes on sale, set your reminder today.

Dan is doing the script for a story in 2000AD at the moment, 'Greyzone'. Quite imaginative and well worth picking up, he's very good at writing the punchy style that fits the weekly instalments very well.

I know he has been doing other books with his own material as well so don't know if that has slowed his BL output (I haven't looked at his blog for a while so not sure)

Ah, I've got that sussed...

If it's a Horus Heresy novel you get the first issue in hardback, the Trade paperback three months later, then the normal paperback (known as a MMPB, or Mass Market Paper Back to the rest of the world, or a 'Legacy' paperback if you're GW) 6 months after that. That's why I don't get excited about a new HH novel as I know I've got a 9 month wait.

Any other novel, ie not HH, follows the same process, but not as far as the MMPB print - paperbacks will only be the larger Trade size.

Something tells me all the Cadians die. It's a awful recurring theme in a lot of their novels and novella's these days.. Follow a character for an entire story, root for them, only for the story to end in their demise with all for naught.
