Well done Minus. Both for the boffo job on the undead elements and for donating them to a charity auction.

Thank you all !
I hope this army will be finished soon so we can see pictures of the whole of it.

Last summer I entered the Gothicomp and won in one of the categories. As a prize I got a Dauntless class ship.
I painted it these days so he can join the rest of my fleet :

Nothing special, I simply painted him the same way as the previous ones. I have to admit that I still like that color scheme, several years later.
I should play that game more often...

Thanks dudes !
I fell in love with the BFG cover art many years ago, when the game was released. But I only got my fleet more recently, like ten years later.

I found some time to paint, wich is quite rare these days.
Since I have painted all my BFG stuff, and all the Askari models at my disposal for the moment, I decided to start a new project !
I met a game designer at a Convention, who created his own game named "Furie". We discussed a lot, and he explained that there was a faction of communist goblins, wich kinda caught my attention ( 'cause I love greenskins ^^).
When he told me that he had planned a cavalery unit for them, and that it would consist in goblins riding war-hamsters, I said "ok, give me a starter right now" !

Never played the game yet, but it's a skirmish game so I'll be ready to play as soon as my starter is painted.

Here's a WIP shot of the first one :

All good stuff.

Particularly love the greenskin, and can't wait to see the cavalry.

A greenskin loving my greenskin. That's a good sign !
The cavalry is not available yet, but I'll get them as soon as they are released.

The "cavalry wave" is planned. I don't know when, but there are artworks available. Goblins will have war-hamster riders. The dwarves have a guy on a bear, driving him with a chicken hanging from a fishing rod if I recall correctly. (Dark) Elves have a crossbowman on a werewolf.
The game creator has crazy ideas, I really like that.

I just finished the second shooter from my starter. Here's a pix of the two buddies :

I got third place to the contest, wich I'm really happy with.

So, I'm back with another project. My orks are waiting for reinforcements, I have a bunch of dark eldars on my desk... but a new game is coming to our gaming club, I had a try and it was good so... I'm painting a starter for another new game.
Happily enough it's a skirmish game again, so I won't hae dozens of miniatures to paint.

That new (for us... it already exists for years) game is called Alkemy and is a Fantasy skirmish game. I picked the "Aurloks" faction, wich are a race of indian like animal/human hybrids.
I started painting them on monday and so far I did this :

So the next big steps are to finish the gold and the skins.
Hope you'll like them.

How do you apply your freckles? Sponge or individually?

They look amazing, very distinctive.

They're painted individually Cam. I apply little dots with 2 different colors.
It takes some time. Too much time.

There is a lot of time consuming work on textures on these models, like the lines on the feathers. It's long to do, but quite funny in fact. Btw did you see the pattern on the fabric clothes ?

I did individual freckles on "Marv". Was not so bad. Different if I was doing 100 models like it mind you.

Yes the texture is visible, and brilliant. Is that lots of dots too, or a different technique?

Whoa, I've been away for some time, haven't I?! Lovely to see you're still painting away. The more you paint them, the closer I get to buying into Eden and BFG, those ISC were stunning.

How is 111 coming along? You'll remember I was looking for a miniature to convert for you to maybe paint but then I vanished. Sorry about that, hope it's going well!

Also, I'm going to have to work on some pinks soon and since it's your trademark colour then I could use some wisdom. I'm sure you've told me before but I could use as much info as you can give me on paints and techniques for pink. I'm going to be going for a really vibrant hot pink and it'll be applied as a spot colour.

I have to check your topic, I didn't have much time to come on dakka lately so I missed the painting contest and have no idea what you guys have been painting lately.

On the fabrics, I painted vertical and horizontal lines to represent the frame. ^^

Oh man, Casey is back ! Nice to see you mate.
Do not hesitate to buy an Eden starter. Once again, contrary to Warhammer 40k for instance, an Eden starter contents all the minis you need to play (plus the rulebook). I mean, in a starter set, you have 100 points worth of models. Those 100 points are the normal game format. You can buy more models if you want to change your gameplay, but for casual games, a starter is enough. That's what convinced me.
By the way, it's exactly the same for Alkemy. They do even better 'cause for the same prize, you even get the dice in your box. And the more I play those games the more I like them.

Project 111 is still going on. I painted all my models (they are shown in the previous pages). Most of us did, but we took some delay, so the project leader decided to postpone the sale of the Army, because he thinks that summer holidays was not the best time for this. I guess it will be sold end of this year.
I'll ask again, and see if I can get photos of the finished units. I'll post them here.

Regarding the pink, what result do you want to get ? Would it be something close to my Aurloks feathers ? Or something more purple ?
Tell me, I'd be happy to help you.

Ok, back to Alkemy.
This is the photo of the first five finished guys. On more to paint and I can play !

Thanks Cam' !
It took me a loooooong time to get decided on the color scheme, because a friend at the gaming club picked the same faction. And he did a pretty nice painting on his own starter.

I wanted to come up with something different, so we can play together with no risk of confusion between his models and mine.

So I'm really happy that people like them.

Thanks pal!

It's extremely tempting, the only issue is that I don't have a gaming group so they'd sit and wait for me to take a notion to paint them and then sit in a cabinet. I was having a look at the Alkemy stuff too and some of those miniatures are brilliant, depending on scale I could even see them as brilliant centrepieces in other game systems. Looking at the animals I wondered if OTLG new what sort of competition they had.

Ah yes I saw your models when I was catching up on your blog, very nice work. Postponing the sale seems like a wild choice. After all, you want them to do the best that they can. I would love to seem them all together.

Yes I'd say something very close to those feathers would be exactly what I was trying to achieve actually. Thanks for your help.

I'll be interested to see which other Alkemy model is next after looking through that factions gallery. There are some awesome miniatures to choose from.

Ok. Been away for a while. Thanks for your comments.
I have some news to show. Hope you'll enjoy !

First, I painted 2 more models for Alkemy. This is all I have for that game so far.
Now I'm painting a few objective markers.

I painted a werewolf-like model for Eden. I painted every model that was released for my faction :

And the whole group so far :

Then I painted a second model for Kolaps. Do you remember Nicolescu, the butcher looking model with a two handed axe ? Here's his friend, Vlado the penitent :

And the last model I just finished is the latest WarForge model, Nikita the assain :

I also have in game photos of Alkemy. I can post some if you are interested.

@ Casey : to get a bright pink, you should use a white undercoat. If the model is primed black, paint the pink areas white first. You can use the new citadel base white. Then apply a rich deep color, like the old Warlock purple. Then highlight with pink and white.
