I've never bought one, but I'm looking at the Eldar Battleforce...

Hrm. 3rd Edition 40K, 5th Edition Fantasy, Mordheim, Blood Bowl, half of BFG, and the non-miniature contents of Black Orc Games' Warband. For one player starter sets, I have the Cryx and Cygnar battleboxes for Warmachine, the Dravani starter set for Rezolution (an excellent game with terrible miniatures), and the CAV 1st edition starter set.

So... 11, if you count single-player sets and partial boxed sets.

EDIT: Argh! Forgot my Prussian Fleet! I have 12.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, I also forgot that I have a starter set somewhere for some game called Ronin. It was defunct when I bought it. I have never played it. I don't think I even read the rulebook. I'm not sure why I bought it.

So... 13. Which means my vote is inaccurate. If someone capable of fixing the poll cares enough to, please do so.

Four for me: Two AOBR (one English, one Deutsch), one BFG, and one Mordheim. The odd thing is that I've played WH Fantasy for many more years (since 1987) than the others but I have never purchased a starter box set for fantasy. Given that 8th edition doesn't appeal to me (yet), it may be a while before I even consider a fantasy set.

EDIT: Damn, I forgot that I did buy one WHFB starter box back in the year 2000 in order to get the mini rulebook. I traded or sold most of the contents. So I technically own five sets but I don't think I am using anything from that WHFB set anymore - maybe a scatter die or templates.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

Non, because I only really like Necrons and -afaik- there is no starter box with Necrons.

I believe the poll is only for the GAME starter boxes - the ones with rules, two armies, fleets, or warbands. Lego isn't asking about the army or battalion/battleforce boxed sets. That would be a separate question.

I have a LOT of games...

Space Hulk, Macragge, Black Reach, Skull Pass, Crimson Skies, Firestorm Armada, Battlefleet Gothic, Nercomunda, Gorkamorka, Battletech, CAV, Silent Death, Warhammer Quest just off the top of my head.

I suppose you could count HeroQuest and BattleMasters as well...

Wasn't sure how we're counting, but I put myself down for 4:
Dark Vengeance
Kill Team (yes it's a starter since it has 2 forces and a rulebook!)
Mines of Moria
Dreadball Xtreme starter

I also have a few boxed sets that probably don't count under those criteria:
Deathwatch half of Deathwatch: Overkill
Imperial Knights: Renegade
Lost Patrol
Start Collecting: Tau Empire
Start Collecting: Space Wolves
Dark Angels Battleforce (the old one with 6 bikes, an attack bike and a Land Speeder)
Tau Empire Battleforce (the one with the Fire Warriors, Crisis Team, Stealth Team and Piranha)

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
