Hi there! First, let me join everyone else and say this log is a real blast! I've just read through the entire thread and I must say you have some serious conversion/GS/scratchbuilding skills! I've always liked the idea of making IG or SM with a modern, special forces feel and you certainly achieve that!

thanks dude, answering your question... i mostly work the gs and sculpt while in the first 15 minutes of mixing it... after that time i find it very hard to attach to the model...
when i sculpt i mostly use a scalpel as it has the ability to cut and flatte surfaces... i have a full set of dentist style sculpting tools, but i find a scalpel best for most situations... after 30 minutes to an hour i find the gs pretty much un-useable... if the radiator is on though i place it on top and find the heat make the gs back to being workable again.

to make the gs smooth, i work it very wet, and it may sound a bit discusting, but i constantly lick the area as the tools are best when either worked with saliva or water... although saliva is best.... sometimes simply licking the area and gently rubbing my finger over the area (after 30 mins) smooths the area nicely.

made these for a comp , they are magnetise to the gaming bases and can be removed to put on the hill for added cinematic effect...

the part i have used are cadian bodies (broken and re-posed) ,kroot kit, hasslefree male heads , maxmini sniper rifles and a whole lot of gs..


ive been pretty busy with work at the moment, but im constantly working on my army, just dont find time to work the pictures... although im kinda discusted with myself that i havent updated in two weeks...

Pretty darn good man! The Ghillie suits are quite nice and the Kroot sniper makes for a nice squad leader considering these guys stealthy ways.

GS is mildly toxic by the way. You may want to put your saliva somewhere else and pick it up with your tools and then wet your work...

It's nice to see someone accurately model ghillie suits with the padded fronts, instead of just covering the model in the camo. Nice work. The Kroot is pretty cool too, though I'd like to have seen him with camo paint or something else to blend him more with his sniper buddies. Him and that jerk who is standing up are giving away the entire squad.

hehe... not quite, IGMB is my true home, but im a show off at heart and dakkas got a greater number of people to view my stuff... plus theres so much inspirational stuff here and everyone is really nice...

yup, although the guy crouching is the only guy with the pads fully sculpted the other have less detailed pads... i agree, its not just about the twine of the suits, ghille suits are only camoed from the rear, so its seen while prone...
and the crouching guy never quite got the hang of stealth... i imagine he wouldnt last long in a firefight lol... all my kroot are going to be different coloured skin... hes lucky hes got green skin... i thought of camo paint but i really cant pull off camo paint... same with tattoos too... i need practice, cao paint looks like im a rubbish painter when i try.

anyway... thanks for all the nice comments guys, i really am trying to produce something different from all the standard guard armies out there... and theres alot more to come.



ok heres all the stuff ive been working on recently

worked on my transports to get a finished prototype of how they willl all look...







pretty simple, but smooth and modern at the same time... im currently painting this up and converting my others.


HERE IT IS, The vulture!

its lacking insignia as of yet... mainly because i still haven found the right style of what markings i want in my army... when i do il repost detailed pics but heres the finished paintjob.










i wanted it to look dirty and used and much like the US marines super cobras in a grey plain paintjob... although a touch darker shade.
the forgeworld punisher cannons are sadly very permanant... i did want to make the pylon weapons detachable but the resin would not let me glue very well... the things were dripping with mold release and i tried to clean them up as good as i could, but the glue would not take, so they are perma pinned in place.
this is the beginning of the darksiders air attachment... i am currently working on a darksider plasma vet squad...with shotguns, kroot soldier and rhino grenadier... these guys will be finished sculpted by the weekend hopefully.

The chimera and vultuer conversions are awesome. Nice work. The vulture paint job is superb as well.

Have you thought about doing some kind of grille for the air intakes?

I think you may very well have achieved perfection. Such neat greenstuff, and such hot ogryn boobs!!

A special favourite is the ratlings, they look so deadly/cute with their little camo hats.

Excellent paintjob on your air-support! Insignia will definitely add some life to the model when you settle on a pattern.

Nice conversion work on the chimera as well. The automated turret is a good idea and fits your slightly-hitech theme.
