We did a little update on the servers. A new sci-fi armor for both models, a few weapons and several female poses.

We also add a tooltip when you hover over an element's thumbnail, as requested.

I just received images from the printing of one of our model. We will use the same printer, unless we find better (or cheaper). We might use a slightly better resin but my contact didn't receive it yet, so he did a printing with this one.

Anyone have a "Take my Money" image on dakka because dang just a couple of modifications and some green stuff that's a sure fire way to create one off characters for a futuristic army of battle nuns.

I'm going to throw this out there, you do what you want with it. A head can be a particularly finnicky thing to produce, especially in 3D printing. Would you consider selling headless minis?

I like what i'm seeing, this is a pretty innovative idea. I will be keeping my eye on this.

We have to do 3 things before we can launch a kickstarter :
- We ordered an handful of models, once we receive them we will paint them so we can show the final product.
- We have to make a little video.
- It's currently not possible to launch a kickstarter campaign from France, we try to find someone we are sure we can trust who is in a “kickstarter-friendly” country. If we can't we will use Indiegogo.

Mathieu Raymond wrote:I'm going to throw this out there, you do what you want with it. A head can be a particularly finnicky thing to produce, especially in 3D printing. Would you consider selling headless minis?
I have no reason to doubt the quality of the printing, for instance on the pictures in my previous post you can clearly see the nose of the model, his ears, his eyes,... I also saw a few models printed at the beginning of the project (as tests) and the level of detail was sufficient. It was at least as good as GW plastic, probably better.

But let's assume you are right and the heads are a letdown, we will try to solve the problem by improving our process in some way. Selling half a product just because a part is finicky to produce doesn't seem right. Maybe we won't find any solution, but we have to try everything first before giving up.

I just did a little more playing around with it, and I love it right now. The tooltips are a massive plus to the design process for users. One thing I've noticed (not sure if it's a bug or something) is that there are some helmets that only appear when designing a female model (such as the open visor sci-fi helmet). Was that intentional?

I know this is probably low on the list of priorities at this stage (getting this into kickstarter territory is quite stressful I imagine), but I personally would appreciate seeing more diversity in hair styles for both genders. It's a fairly defining feature of a model, IMO, so having as much variety there as there is elsewhere would be great. Shorter hair, some younger (and older, now that I think of it) looking facial features would all be cool.

Something else that would be cool, if it was possible to implement, is hair/helmet interaction - long hair flowing out behind the helmet, for example - and the option to turn that feature on or off on the model.

Again, loving it so far, and obviously the above are just suggestions of things I'd like to see personally. This is easily one of the coolest things on Dakka right now, and I really, really hope it takes off into full scale production. Kudos so far

We received a couple of new photos. They aren't great, I hope we will receive them quickly to show you something better but there are some delays.

Hum, interesting to know. To be honest I wasn't convinced by the usefulness of the tooltips, we add it because it was a request and it wasn't hard to implement. That's why we need your feedbacks!

It wasn't intentional, it's just that helmets (and most of the elements) are not “shared” between the male and female models, we need to convert them and sometimes we forget. So don't hesistate to ask for such conversion if you think it should be there.

Several new haircuts will be in the next update. No new head yet, although it's indeed a must.

Technically we have something to combine hair with some helmets, although we haven't fully exploited this feature yet.

We received 3 printed models, here some pictures next to a GW elf for the scale. The supports were a little thick and hard to remove, next time we will do them thinner.

The level of details seems high enough, higher than I would care to paint anyway
What do you think about the pics ?

Krieg! What a hole...

I have a small suggestion, keep the ''ammo'' option on for all weapons, so we can have hellgun-style weapons, too.

We won't use any mould since each model is unique (moulds are useful for mass product). We will print and that's it, so you are seeing the final product. Well, it's our first try so we will improve things a little but it shouldn't change much.

Bobthehero wrote:I have a small suggestion, keep the ''ammo'' option on for all weapons, so we can have hellgun-style weapons, too.

Hum, we can create more weapons with this option (and it's indeed something we don't use enough) but it's a little more complex than just activate the slot since the software needs to know where to plug the ammo feeder into the weapon.

Details aside, which i say are awesome, this is why i mentioned we need some way to make size comparison to other games and models, seeing that halberdier side to side with the Swordmaster, the proportions are all off, i cant really imagine using those models, despite their excellent quality. Same applies for any other game, not just WH.

Big update !

A lot of things happened those last days. First, our three printed models have finally been painted.

We needed a way to use kickstarter, being in France we can't use it directly from here, we tried to do it throught someone we know in UK but it's illegal because of laws against money laundering. So we will use Bridgestarter, a Canadian company that help to create Canadian corporations so we can use Kickstarter there.

A new version of the site is on the servers.

- We added a couple of minor improvements like tooltips.
- During the creation of the model the page is now opened lower to avoid wasting browser space with the title. You might need to reload the javascript (alt + F5).
- We remove our forum, it didn't work properly and since almost no one used it we chose to shut it down (temporarily ?).

- We added helmets, hair cuts, some weapons and a couple other things. We had a request for more weapons with ammunition belt/cable from the backpack so we will try to add this options more regularly.

- We added a weapon sprue, now you can choose to only take some weapons, shields or shoulder pads. Let me remind you that the pledgers of the kickstarter campaign will be able to add their own symbol to the list.

- We also added Ahnôn, a limited model for the kickstarter. We are not sure how it's limited though, 1 free model ? Possibility to buy any number of model during a period of time ?... Ahnôn is also the first model with a fixed pose, which means less possibilities but more realistic overall model, especially for the cloak or the hair. We would gladly have some feedback on that.

We hope we will be able to launch the kickstarter in 3 weeks. The time to finish things like the video or Drop Dead Daisy. Didn't I mention Drop Dead Daisy yet ? I'm sure you'll find her...interesting

I would really reconsider the scale/proportions of those models, while they look awesome on their own, they are completely out of place in the existing games.

Hi,

We were silent too long but we kept improving and updating our system. We just did a big update on the servers, adding the possibility to create mechas and we would appreciate some feedback on it.

You can create your own design with 11 different weapons for each arm, 5 torsos and 6 legs, plus a few secondary weapons on the shoulders.
One set of legs is shorter than the others (2-part legs instead of 3-part legs). Please let us know which one you prefer
Same thing if you have any idea on torso or weapon we could add.

It's just the first wave, we intend to add a few more features later. First we will add symbols on some elements. We will also add hand-held weapons like swords but we don't know yet if we will be able to create 2 handed weapons. In theory it should be doable but we will have to try first to know if the result looks good enough.

We also don't know which size they will be, that's why there is no pilot or things like that. Currently they have a virtual size of 3.5m/4m which is about 6 /7cm high at 1:56. Maybe we will scale them down just a little to better match the miniatures of other companies, if I'm not mistaking they are a little smaller. If you have an idea of the size the mechas should be, same thing, just let us know (don't forget the price will increase with the size and a too big mecha will be cramped on a regular base).

Oh, and regarding the gremlins working too slow, we may have a solution but it involves finding servers with graphic card. Our provider insinuated it might be possible in the near future, otherwise we will have to find another one not too expensive, the few I have found so far are.
