I find both GW and PP's proportions to be pretty horrific, but I really like painting PP's metals. Their resin is fine too. I just don't touch PVC anymore unless I'm paid to.
I'm really liking all the huge based casters. I remember when the MK2 field test was going on and a local guy would whine about how impossible it was to protect a large base caster. I haven't asked him what he thinks of huge based casters

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

Both PP and GW seem to have gone to more cartoonish proportions and presentations in last few years. I don't collect any PP stuff, but I do follow their releases since hey, good looking mini is a good looking mini. Alas, they have got scarcer of late. Maybe I'm just a stiff-necked grognard, but older PP sculpts tended to be bit more "gritty" and slightly more realistically proportioned. Ditto for much of the GW range, particularly Fantasy. They're getting into Rob Liefeld territory.
And sure big weapons are heroic and stuff, but when your weapon is bigger than your thorax, it's a bit much.

Yeah, I know, suspension of disbelief, but that's asking the audience to meet you half-way, not blindly accept. This thing just frustrates me more, the more I look at it. The wheelchair thing was a pure joke from Will Shick. Also, from what he implied Xerxis was injured but not permanently paralyzed.

I would never claim that GW is anything but "Heroic scale" but they really don't compare to PP in terms of cartoonish proportions, especially when it comes to weapons and...shoulder pads.
I don't generally consider it a negative thing, at all in most cases. This guy just really tips the scale in to "cos-playing toddler" territory for me.

I've been doing a lot more historical stuff in 15mm and 54mm, so I'm spoiled for good proportions, so I'm finding I have less patience for GW/ PP proportions than ever before. I too like the look of the older sculpts. Even maligned models like the original winterguard. My favorite is probably the noble scrap thrall.

Insert MadTV's "whole nutha level" guy here.
When I see your avatar, I can totally get where you're coming from as well. Tre Manor's recent stuff has had great proportions.
The sword is still big, but nothing like Xerxes' nerf bats.

The huge shoulders and weapons are intended to serve a purpose though, and that's to make models more recognizable/distinctive when viewed from a high angle as you look down on the gaming table. Weapons are definitely shown on models bigger than they "are". Look at the holsters and scabbards they wear and ask how they fit stuff into those. Also check out two Gastone models, comparing the size of his holstered gun on the Kickstarter sculpt vs how large it is once he draws it in the new sculpt.

Not everybody gets everything, but on a long enough timeline, probably.
For example, both Skorne and Trollbloods have warlock units, but Circle,
Minions, and Legion do not. Legion Skorne and Minions have lesser
warbeasts, but Trollbloods and Circle don't.
However, maybe the next Hordes release after Exigence will see Legion
with a warlock unit and Trolls with a lesser. You never know.
And so on. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also: Jerseys!

If they're made of sportsing material, they're sportsing jerseys.
Or maybe they just mean the material is jersey. /shrug

So want an Epic Mortenebra that's a Battle Engine. Not Riding a Battle Engine like Lyllyth or Xerxis or Reznick, but one where the whole thing is a big spiffy new war chassis she built for herself.

Remember you wrote this, so when two years from now a small based caster wielding a juggernaught one handed is released and you start to type up a complaint about how silly it looks you will perhaps pause, for just a moment, and consider how it came to this.
Actually, that works for both points pretty well though huge based epic Morty will probably dual wield Slayers, not Juggers.

I'm going to leave it at...
My options for "cool" disabled characters are Daredevil, Prof X. or for a while Barbara Gordon. If having a bad-ass warrior-general as another option requires me to forgive how bat-gak stupid it is as a practical concept, i'm still going to take it. Beggars, as they say, cannot be choosers. :-p

Fair enough. I haven't been following WM fluff/press much since early mkII when I felt there was a strong turn for the worse on both fronts, so was basing my reactions off of others' comments.

Kind of a joke. There was a thread where Doug Seacat said
that Xerxis insists on fighting even while dealing with internal
injuries, and that he'll probably keep the Rhino after he's healed.

Yep - I gave in an ordered both starter sets. Been wanting t for a while but their plastics reputation gives me pause.
At $60 a pop though - I don't mind a little extra cleanup required. It was tempting to order some of the big gargantuans too - but better to wade in than dive headfirst

Missed out on the Warmachine starter and Berserkers. Everything else I wanted, I got:
Drago
Behemoth
Greylord Escort
Winter Guard with Rockets
Manhunter
Widowmaker Solo
Winter Guard Field Gun
Came to $135 for all that. Which basically means I bought Drago, Behemoth and the Widowmaker at retail, and the rest was free. Automatically Appended Next Post: As a question, does anyone know if you can add something on to an order after you've paid? I missed something I wanted and submitted a ticket, but it's after hours for them. I don't really want to add on an item with $10 shipping after I'm already getting free shipping on something else.

They're usually pretty good about it, so long as the item remains in stock by the time they process your ticket. I've had them retro-actively add points to my account after I failed to login on my phone before, as well as add items.
