Nice! HH Angels look suitably mean, and I can't wait to see this AVP stuff get some paint. Could I trouble you for a scale pic of a Pred next to a Marine or similar at some point?

Even though Prodos made a horse's arse of the kickstarter, the models are excellent. I just wish they'd bite the bullet and merge with Mantic. With Prodos' great model casting and Mantic managing things they'd be fantastic. Ok Mantic aren't perfect but they'd do a damn sight better than Jarek&Co!

The DA Heresy era guys look fantastic. I just wish I had more of an idea of how they operated during the Legion days. From the little picture in the FW N&R it's pretty vague, but they seem to be a mixed bag M.O. wise.

Think I'm going to save the Kheres assault cannon for my relic 'temptor dread. Or possibly do some gentle sawing and magnetise the plastic one. Thoughts/comments anyone?
Speaking of plastic dreads I did some tweaking with my BaC one. For this I've changed the pose a bit, so it looks like he's spraying some poor buggers with bolter fire and advancing, while his Multi-melta cools down.
I like the bolter in the hand, I did that with the flamer on my MM/flamer dread and appreciate it elsewhere. I mean, why have something hanging down where it could snag and get caught when you could just internalize it.

Nice HHaul there. Is that AdMech model one of FW's? I don't think I've ever seen it before. Subtle conversion on the Contemptor is well done. Looks like he's about to force choke some unlucky bastard!

Yeh the Techmarine is a MkIV artificer suit. Love the axe on him and the servo arm actually looks useable compared to the old model lol(granted the old models were made with old techniques).
The only choking that's going to happen there, is when he pops someone's chest open with mass reactive rounds lol.
Will you be making any alterations to yours? Also, have you thought about which legion you're going for? Or are you going to use them for 40k instead?

All Contemptors have their built in weapons in the hand. The Castraferrum pattern dreadnoughts ie the slab sided ones in 40K, were quicker to produce in the Horus Heresy, which is why there's so many of them and they're not as good. The Contemptor has energy shields as well as armour.

Well they had all those washing machines that were about to be sent out to the different chapters along with the new method of removing Chaos taint handbooks before the Heresy broke out. Unfortunately the handbooks were lost due to a server error and the washing machines were repurposed when the tech priests read the attached note that simply said "to remove the toughest stains in the galaxy." Even to this day the tech priests believe that the washing machine dreads were the worst flop whe it came to laundry duty. Sure you could hang an entire squads clothes from them, unless if your dark angels, but they never could fluff dry clothes with those heavy flamers

Oh I love that one . Enough chaos organic a to make it look cool. I was more joking of the square boxy "washing machine on legs" 40k dreadnought that I own more than a dozen plastic ones of and 5-6 metal ones in a sock of.

Now your making me want to break out an old plastic dread turn him into a front load washing machine on legs and have a clothes line with "I (Heart) the Emperor" boxer shorts hanging on it dragging from one of its feet. I Think I will Call it Amana
I just remember when they first came out with them and their boxy design style. My friends and I agreed on the washing machine motif.

In the form of 5 more Liberators dual wielding hammers again. These will be reinforcing the 5 man dual hammers unit from a few pages back, so no Liberator Prime here. Also you may notice the shiny Dragonfate Dais which looks like huge fun to paint though, there are quite a few mould lines still to eradicate. Slightly disappointed that the upper level is blank underneath with exception to the words Games Workshop 2015 printed on it

That's a bloody cool looking piece of scenery. Perhaps I'll have to revisit some of GW's scenic kit range. But maybe I should finish the ones I already have first....
To be honest, you could assemble the piece as far as the quarter landing , and use it as 2 pieces of scenery. So you have an orrible sacrificial pool and a ritual circle (on top of a hill maybe?)
This piece was surprisingly pleasant to assemble after the faff I had with the Ophidian Archway.

Dammit BaC! GW done a bad thing releasing Horus Heresy in plastic.. got a fair bit of Legion stuff coming now (Like I don't have enough! Lol)
First up, some more stuff I've assembled and yet to paint.. Why do we make a rod for our own back like this? lol. Also, been thinking I may take a break from painting infantry, and paint some pieces from my mountain of scenery like the Shrine of the Aquila etc. Been suffering a bit of burn out in that regard. On the plus side, going through the posts on here, I think I managed to get a good few models done in 2015. At least 100 I'd say.
Legion stuff
Sergeant 1 (yet to be named and with some Dark Angels Legion bling)
Spoiler:
Sergeant 2 (also yet to be named)
Spoiler:
Cataphractii Squad
Spoiler:
Legion Techmarine with Combi-plasma (soon to be swapped out for Volkite I think!)
Spoiler:
*sniff sniff* You smell that? Smells like.... TRAITORS! My brother's beginnings of a XVI Legion Reaver squad
Spoiler:
I've also decided that I REALLY REALLY dislike edge highlighting. It's such a ball ache, so with that in mind, things will be getting dry brushed where possible. On the plus side, I really love these new gold paints GW have released. Here is my recent attempt on an Assault marine...

Weird isn't it? I find edge highlighting to be quite relaxing...each to their own I guess. That is quite some resin pile you have coming to you, I am scared by the postage cost alone.

Hello all and welcome back to a slightly different direction to the blog. I've been PAINTING scenery instead of just building it and leaving it bare and grey... (Technically still grey though, since it's base coated with Mechanicus Standard Grey spray paint)
Yes, I've made a start on my scenery pile doing craters and ruins. Loving the new spray paints and the fact they're not limited runs this time!
Basically doing this as I've burnt out my motivation for foot soldiers and whatnot so I'm doing a bit of this to break it up.
First up is the Dragonfate Dais I got for my brother's birthday- still a WIP as I had to top up my Longbeard Grey dry compound for him to dry brush it after shading.
Base coat
Spoiler:
Nuln Oil Wash
Spoiler:
Ophidian Archway- base coated with the Mechanicum grey spray, dry brushed with Longbeard Grey and shaded with Nuln oil though in hindsight I probably should've done it the other way around. Can't really see the highlights that well. Suggestions for what to paint the warrior chappy stabbing the hydra beastie in the craw? I was thinking silver perhaps?? I think more gold would ruin the frontage..
Spoiler:
And lastly, the Dark World temple thingy.. After some discussion with my brother, this is going on a game board tile. The back of the ruin piece could end up slotting into a ziggurat or a hill with a skull (possibly the sabre tooth cat skull you've seen in a couple of my game pics) arching over the top of it. Might paint a Chaos star or mark of Khorne on it... Hmmm. Comments welcome
Before I even saw Jan's post I was about to suggest copper. So yeah, copper. Breaks up the uniformity and makes both of them distinctive but still related, while keeping the friese in a separate tone to the background (grey/silver would blend to an extent).
I had one of those Dark World temples slightly converted for scenery but never finished. I wish I could find it!
