A friend said this code works on top of the discount. I have no idea as I already placed my order, but it's worth a shot if you haven't:

Huh - I threw some WM stuff in the shopping cart and went to try the code - it knocked about $4 off a $78 order (5%). I was hoping it'd say what the code was for (since I'm on MM's mailing list - and don't recall any recent sales or anything in my inbox) but it did not.

I hope the good folks at MM don't take too much of a bath on this sale!

It's probably some promotion related to the Forward Kommander website.

Boo! $15 shipping on $21 item, so no buy for me. Why is the cheapest international shipping option called "First class"? Couldn't we get an option for "Second class"?

There used to be. It was called 'surface mail' but USPS decided to get rid of it about 18 months ago, and double the price of first class at the same time.

Tempting, Miniatures Market, but they have been CLEANED OUT.

Man - the PP love continues at MM today - Their "Deal of the Day" today is Warmachine: Vengeance (the newest book) for about $15. I wonder why they felt the need to burn through their WM/H stock?

And yeah - a cursory glance today shows it is getting slim pickins' with what remains.

Thought to long. No Hordes starter for me. Oh well.

A great way to quickly get liquidity, I guess? Almost everything I bought is out of stock now, and I got a shipping notice today (I'm probably one of the earlier orders, though).

If you get a build up of stock, it's a good idea to clear it so you can invest it in stocking the newer releases and other products.

A few items were restocked this morning - managed to pick up the Khador Collosus and Cryx Kraken that were out of stock when I looked yesterday.

Wish their website didn't fall over every time they have a sale though.

Yeah, MM has been continually restocking about half of their WMHDs inventory every day, I figure since its the weekend that probably won't be the case now, wonder how much longer this sale is going to go on for... I've dropped something like $700 in the past 3 days ><

My order is due in Thursday, already have my shipping notice. I had to have them combine two orders too, so complicated it a tiny bit more. Hulk, I probably snagged your hordes starter.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

No worries. The more I look at stuff the less I like the aesthetic of the main factions. The only faction that has a consistant aesthetic I like seems to be the minions/mercs groups.

For those in the know are minions and mercs two totally seperate factions or are the basically one faction (i.e. can I mix Farrow dudes and the Dwarf dudes in a single list)?

Minions and Mercs are two separate factions, beyond that, each of them has a number of separate subfactions within them. When playing either faction you are actually playing one of those subfactions, rather than the faction as a whole, meaning that just because you are playing mercs or minions doesn't mean you can freely pick from all the merc or minion units, etc.

For Minions, this is the Thornfall Alliance (Pigs) and Blindwater Congregation (Gators).

For Mercs, this is Cephalyx, Talion Charter (Pirates), Seaforge Commission (Dwarves), Highborn Covenant (Llaelese resistance & some Cygnar), and Four Star Syndicate (General mercs, allows use of most, but not all merc units).

In both cases there is some overlap between the various subfactions of both mercs and minions, and there is even some very limited overlap between mercs and minions, but to my knowledge there is nothing that allows a cross between Farrow and Dwarves.

Well poop. Maybe I'll just order their respective books. I have a heck of a time finding enough models I like in a faction to get into WH/Hordes.

The books are useful for helping understand how the various subfactions work, but both of them are out of date considering all the new releases that have come out for both since they were published (and in the case of Mercs, it doesn't detail the Cephalyx at all, which have their own separate force book despite technically being a merc subfaction). My advice is to download War Room and purchase the Mercenaries and Minions decks through there (should work out to being cheaper than the books), you can use the Army Builder function of said app to mess around with various builds and see if you can mix and match the models that you like.

As a side note, when playing in multi-list format tournaments, Mercs/Minions aren't locked into a specific subfaction. When playing Minions, you can bring both a Blindwater list and a Thornfall list for example, or when playing Mercs one of your lists can be Seaforge Commission, and the other can be Talion Charter. As a further aside, I'm not sure if that applies to the Cephalyx at all, as they are a very restrictive subfaction, and despite being mercs are being billed as a separate faction alltogether in some ways.

Cephalyx are still a Merc contract. They are in the merc section of Warroom, the cards say Mercenary on them. They're just a very restrictive contract.

And I'd still pick up the books if you're interested in Mercs or Minions. They're the most confusing factions in Warmachine with all the different Contracts and Pacts and some models being Mercs and Minions. The newer releases aren't in the faction books, but the vast majority are. Plus there are still some errors in Warroom so don't trust it 100% when building a list. Check it with the books or on the faction forums on PP's website until you are more comfortable with the factions.

Is the Cephalyx force book out?

I've always loved minions (both factions) the most of all the factions but the lack of choice put me off them. I went with Skorne in the end, but I keep considering starting Minions too, and I might pull the trigger on it with Exigence.

Cephalyx book is still unreleased (also just realized its pretty much impossible to enter a multi-list format tourney with Cephalyx unless you play other Merc pacts due to character restriction).

If you're playing Skorne you should definitely check out the Minion pacts as both have a variety of models that will work for Skorne which would be a good stepping stone for you to transition to playing Minion armies, as the cost barrier to entry is reduced by virtue of the fact that you can purchase a single unit at a time and still see use from them in a Skorne list.

Thanks yeah I know Gatorman Posse are pretty good in Skorne so I think I'll get some when the plastic ones come out. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Minion battle engines, and I really like the 2 new casters.

Right, but merc players I've seen tend to play a mix of contracts anyway, so it's no big deal.

I think Gatormen are everyones favorite unit, probably one of the best in the game. The battle engines look pretty sweet though based on the pre-production images, etc. ive seen. Rules wise, assuming the leaks are accurate, the Blindwater one will be amazing (and a great little "feth you" to Cryx players everywhere lol)

I know a few who are keen on Cephalyx who aren't mercs players.

As opposed to the flying wolf chariot that's just been released in 40k...

Why?

No wait, allow me to correct myself...

Why can't you take Warmahordes seriously, but somehow you can take Warhammer Fantasy and 40k seriously despite being far worse offenders?

There are some, yes. However, they go into Cephalyx knowing that this is a merc thing, just
like rhulic players know that as well.

Who in their right mind thinks that a release like Helga is supposed to be taken seriously? The pigs and to a lesser degree the trolls are the comedy relief factions in WM/H.

I happen to think Helga is one of the most awesome miniatures I have ever seen, but not because I think it asks to be taken seriously.
