Thats the vibe I was getting.

I like Barzam's. Gets the same effect but with a little more subtlety than my attempt:
Spoiler:

Never got around to filling it with acrylic/epoxy so it looks more like the faceplate is busted out, whereas the guardsman above gives the effect while maintaining the intact helmet.

That officer witht he carapace/camo and bolt-pistol/power-fist is very nice, the face plate with skull, wouldn't have been inspired by the stories of the shadows in the forest aka library would it?

Actually, it's based more on the CIA SAD operators.

But, like I said, I'd seen someone else do it first and I was just copying them.

Vet is epic! Can you do a quick parts breakdown?

He's made from parts from four companies.

Another little update. I made two more Skitarii last night.

I got the first of my special weapon Skitarii done: the Arc Rifle.

And, I made the creepy looking Sicarian Ruststalker Alpha

And, since I was on the subject of Xyber 9 last update, I figured, what the hell, why not show another vehicle? This time, the "tank" used by the good guys.

This thing was called the Half-Back, for some reason. Clearly, it is some sort of battlefield engineering half track. This one is also from the 1/72 scale line, though there is a 1/18 version of it (I have none of the 1/18 ones). I feel that this thing is underscaled for 1/72. But, it's damn near perfect for 15mm.

And who are these little fellows down on the side? Why, they're Rebel Minis special forces.

Yes, I've started to experiment with other scales. 15mm is too damn small, but there's a lot of neat stuff available in that scale. The Rebel Minis figures are okay. The sculpt quality seems to vary across their ranges. These guys aren't bad. They're detailed enough that I can tell exactly what I'm looking at, but they aren't as nice as some of the stuff Khurusan puts out. I think I'd compare Rebel Minis' stuff to Mantic's. They're pretty affordable, not the best sculpts, but decent, and you get a bunch of figures for your money. I got 12 of these guys along with 40 zombies and a rulebook for about $25. That's a lot of stuff for what really isn't that much money in this community.

I'm assuming that was in the Red Ops 5 box that you speak of?

Paint some of the zombies. Curious to see them.

Then you can teach me the game for once!

Yeah, those are the figures I got in the Red Ops 5 bundle. I've painted a couple zombies. it's kind of funny. The thing that's slowing me down with painting them is my lack of pennies. They're all based on pennies. Usually, I have too many of the damn things. But, when I need some, there's none around.

You read the Modern Havok rules I leant you right? Red Ops is basically the same. They're both built on the same basic game engine. Though, Red Ops actually seems better suited to single player rather than multplayer.

Got my Litko order yesterday, which means I can start on my BFG ships and my Danamian Long Range Recon Patrol team. Got the team leader all painted up last night, pics of him to go up tonight.

Not sure how I should paint my BFG ships. I've got a handful of Eldar craft and some small human ships.

Well, I've talked about wanting to do a Danamian Long Range Recon Patrol team using Mad Robot parts. I finally did it! The first figure, the team leader is now done.

The tiger stripe camo is simplistic, but I think it gets the job done and does look good from a distance. The team leader is the first of a five man team. There'll also be a radio operator and a flame thrower. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to need to get some more equipment pouches as I don't have enough for the whole team. Plus, I need to order some backpacks at some point.

To hang out with my Danamians, and to test the LRRP team's tiger stripe camo, I also have a Brother Vinni guardswoman to add to the mix.

I think I'll yank her off that base and put her on a clear one so she matches up with the rest of the Danamians.

My three tiger striped jungle fighters, so far

Yep! The skull detail is a decal from the Chaos transfer sheet.

Shocking, isn't it? I could've gone with the entirely nude rocket launcher, but going into combat buck naked, regardless of location doesn't seem like a smart move to me.

It would be pretty good on the distraction front but pretty useless in any other situation unless you were fighting zombies in a nudest park

Ah, the Brother Vinni missile launcher fully clothed looks great!

I also like the use of the MRM stuff for the leader.

Had some progress last night, got five figures done.

Finished two more LRRP team members: Flamer and Vox. I'll need to get backpacks for them though before they're truly finished.

The other three figures I finished were some robot troopers from AEWWII. For some reason, our FLGS pulled out a ton of old stock of Chronopia, Warzone, and AEWWII figures. I couldn't resist and had to purchase some AEWWII figurs. I got some American robots and some German troops. Today I wound up also grabbing some Dark Legion Warzone figures and a techpriest for my AdMech.

Anyway, robits!

first is the leader

Red, due to being the leader. I wish I had a zeon style horn antennae to put on him as well.

Trooper 1

Trooper 2

The robots are so cool with the "tommy guns"

Those robots were really one of those cases where I didn't like the figures' designs at all until I actually had them in hand. Their retro '50s look isn't entirely to my liking. But, like I said, in hand, I really like them. Unfortunately, for some reason these AEWWII figures really don't want to be glued together. I don't know what their deal is. The robots didn't and neither did the Germans I'd bought. Last night I tried to put the Germans together and fought with them for over an hour. No matter what kind of glue I used, gel or liquid, their arms would just flop off even after it felt like they'd secured. Ugh. Pain in the ass. Eventually, I got them all together, but man, those figures suck to put together.

Last night I also decided to go back to Infinity for a bit. My brother had bought a couple figures for me for my birthday and I decided to put one of them together. May I present the Kotail Mobile Unit.

With this figure, I now own at least one figure from every faction!

During my last round of FRP impulse buying, I wound up purchasing some odd figures that I've been wanting. I suspect not that many people are all that familiar with Zombiesmith's lines, otherwise I figure I'd have seen more of their stuff popping up online. Anyway, for some odd, inexplicable reason, I've been wanting to buy some figures from their This Quar's War line. So, I finally did. Just wanting to dip my toes in the water, so to speak, I grabbed a small set of two figures. I'd like the Toulmore scheme, so I decided to go with them for my first outing.

This guys aren't quite finished, but they're close enough that I'm comfortable posting them.

I have to say, I really like the doofy little guys. I showed them to my dad and he liked them a lot, too. I think I may just have to get some more Toulmore soldiers. I don't know what kind of animal they are, but they look vaguely avian to me. I think they'd go well against Tamburlaine's rats.

I have seen someone give them a odd tank that would have looked at home in the 1930's

The range actually does have a few tanks, and they're very funky looking.

Actually, their War of Ashes line, or whatever its called seems more up your alley. Those figures look like barbarian Muppets.

The Danamian Long Range Recon Patrol team is done for now. They still need backpacks, but are otherwise finished.

I forgot I'd already taken pics of the vox guy, but here he is with the final two anyway.

And the whole team.
