Subject: Creature Caster FUNDED! Thank you Dakkaites.
Amusing that you were in California and made the cover of D Magazine (Dallas/Fort Worth area mag). And, ye gods, man, how much hair product did you go through in a week?!
Anyway, I'm glad I'm only in for a single model on this one (the totally-not-Slaanesh demon). As long as I get it, I'll be mostly satisfied. I didn't have a specific project where I needed it by a certain time, anyway.

This thread is WAY off-topic, and as previously noted, is not the place for discussing generalizations / stereotypes of people or places - particularly ones completely unrelated to this thread.
Rule #2 of Dakka is Stay On Topic... this thread is about the Creature Caster kickstarter, so please no more posts about unrelated things. Thanks.

What about stereotypes that are related to this thread?

I think our money is safe. As stated before, most models are at the printer and I think he said nothing gets produced until they are all complete. Jeremy works at his own pace, look at how long it took for his computer to get fixed after the coffee incident. If anything he needs to be lamenting how much money he is losing by taking sooooooo long and the exchange rate dropping.

Kenny here this time. I’m not so good with the public videos, so I’ll stick with the words on screen! I’ll start with a summary for those of you who just want a quick glance at where we are.
Summary
The models Creature Caster has received since the last update: Plague Angel, Treewoman and Maggot Demon
Last four models at the printer: Emperor Dragon, Mountain Dragon, Zombie Dragon and Possessed Dragon
For those who follow the comments section closely the following information will be old news, but do scan it just in case!
Video
After the last update Jeremy did a video showing off the Vulture Demon you saw pictures of last time. Check it out here:

The three demons at the print shop:
The Plague Angel with wings:
The three demons at Creature Caster:
Possessed Dragon:
What now?
As all the dragons are being printed up at the moment Jeremy went on a trip to do some business things, but also take a mini break to refresh himself; which he’s due back from soon.
When he’s back the first thing you’ll get is an update containing a video of the three demon models and if the printer’s finished we may also get some sneak previews of the dragon prints as well.
Thank you all again for your continued support and patience as Creature Caster attempts to get your models to you ASAP. When we get news you’ll get news and I’ll attempt to summarize the communication in the comments section at least once a month from here on in.
Happy Easter to one and all!
Kenny
That looks like a bigger update than we're had in a while. I'll take it.

Video showing off the treewoman, maggot demon and plague angel sculpts. Also at the very end he shows off the one and only print of the Not-Nurgle demon all painted up. I think he keeps stressing a little too much the fact tha this will never be a model that can be "purchased", which leads me to wild speculation that we might see it as the freebie....just smaller. He's contemplating giving away this model as some sort of prize, details to be released later if he does.

RivenSkull wrote: Very disappointed the not Nurgle won't get produced. I was sure it would be released in a subsequent year or KS, but I guess not now.
Tis a bit disappointing but it feels like he might be IP lawsuit bait for GW since he's pretty much a GUO in everything but name.
At least it doesn't seem to have taken long for him to find himself.
He must have been in the first place he looked!

The detail on the Emperor Dragon is one a whole new level! Plus the construction of the kit is extremely flexible. From a quality standpoint, everything turned out even better than expected.
(keep in mind that every piece of the model kit pictured below is DRY FIT!)
Due to a painstaking design process, the armored neck piece is now compatible with the howdah, saddle and armor plug.
The details are extremely crisp and deep. The pose is super dynamic while still remaining well-weighted and playable on the tabletop.
The Emperor Dragon was designed to be the worlds best ride'able wargaming dragon, while still being able to come in at a realistic price point. It is very flexible in terms of what army it can represent, and the howdah and removable saddle piece mean you do not have to commit to a single model who represents the rider. One dragon for many armies!
I am blown away with the details. This print has taken the longest to receive, and after inspecting the detail I believe that it was worth the wait. The dream of seeing the Emperor Dragons painted up and on the tabletop is becoming a reality, and I could not be happier with the results.
RiTides wrote: Whoa, that model is impressive! I'm not usually a fan of "howdahs" on dragons, but I think it actually works with this model. Very nicely done!
Is that the final sculpt other than the one mystery sculpt...?
Mountain Dragon, Zombie Dragon and Possessed Dragon still outstanding.
Ughh another comment section update rather than an actual project update:
Doing a quick Q and A, and then back into photos.
1. Can we get refunds?
There are no longer any refunds being accepted since we will be closing out the Pledge Manager soon. You will get the Pledge Manager closure notices soon. Moving forward!
2. How will the models be packaged for retail?
We are planning on having a box with a foam insert, but all final retail packaging will be decided upon after the campaign. All of the Kickstarter miniatures will focus of padding and safety, not packaging. This is done from a practical standpoint and also to lessen the environmental impact of the shipments.
3. Have any of the models gone to be cast yet?
The first batch of demons will be sent out in the next few weeks. Following that will be the dragons. I will be personally visiting the facility and will report from there once they have things under full swing.
4. If the last video showed finished masters shouldn't those all be in the casting process now while we wait for the last few things to get masters printed?
The manufacturing quote is based on a lot of factors. Not the smallest of which is the overall cost, and that number is based on seeing as many of the models as possible, and attributing to them an exact manufacture cost, shipping weight, materials needed in terms of resin and rubber, etc. We simply need to see more than pictures in order to get these facts, so the prints are required to move forward. Right now there is a strategy to start with the demon, and then phase two the dragons, in order to get things going. It is a process.
5. Can you estimate for us your expectation of about how long it will take to get all the models produced in resin and shipped once the printing is complete? (months - 2, 6, more?)
I would imagine the first packages would go out in a few months, but I could not give any more specificity than that. Certainly the casting will go MUCH quicker than the printing. Photos will come streaming in once productions starts. That time should be a joy compared to the time waiting for prints.
6. Is the Minion just a first pass?
The sculpt you see is the Minion. Should I sculpt another one? AoV: What sculpt??!!
I am currently re-shooting pictures for the gallery, and am learning as I am going. It turns out that my photos were much to bleached out. Photographing masters is a skill and is one that I am learning.

Musings on the Possessed Dragon, and estimated time of delivery
Here is your week's end update. Hope everyone is doing great. I had the Possessed Dragon out on the table, sanding and tweaking parts. I brought out the camera and filmed a few pieces in order to do some commentary for the Creature Caster super fans out there. Enjoy!
Now that we have one Dragon left to print, and a few odds and ends and reprints, we are moving to production and that means we can start estimating the time when you can expect to receive your miniatures.
Given the times that the printers have taken with each model so far, we can expect...
the Zombie to be printed, sanded, primed, packaged and shipped here for inspection in about 3 weeks.
After that I will be flying to the factory and presenting the models for inspection and personally preparing them for mold making. I am not yet sure exactly how long this could take, but not very long I imagine.
After that it would take about another 3 weeks for mold making mother molds and production molds for the 11 models.
After that It would take approx. two months to create the approx. 4000 models that are needed to fulfill the campaign.
There is a logistical unknown with the packaging and sorting and drop-shipping of these models with creates an unknown time scale for this portion. I am imagining a few weeks for packaging, international transit and sorting.
During the casting portion we will be getting information on the unit weights and thus the shipping costs associated with each pledge. You will be contacted with a request for the funds needed to ship your package.
Realistically speaking, we can expect to start sending out packages around December. These timescales are still in flux, but I just wanted to start preparing everyone for what will be happening in the few months to come. I will be able to re-visit the timescales once I am in the UK and can see the first part of production begin, in order to get an even more accurate timing of things.
It has been a huge learning experience for me. I am looking forward to shipping out the models, having you thrilled about the quality, and then sharing these experiences with you as we begin to share painted pics of the models.
On behalf of Kenny and myself, thank you so much for your patience and support. You know who you are. You have been right there with us and we appreciate your support everyday.
