Looking fantastic Damo. I think the "dirtying" should do the trick nicely.

If you wanted more details, you could add some yellow lines or dashes down the middle of the roads, and maybe some metalics on the storm drains and man hole covers. Some oily water effects in the deeper craters might work as well.

Weathering powders mixed with water/medium and some matt varnish can be applied in the gutters and craters, etc for a nice effect as well. Once it dries, it's matt but leaves a great look.

And to add to the suggestions.. darken the roads a bit more to provide an additional level of contrast. ( ie. dirty them even more than the rest. )

Agreed make it dirty............... being THE Nerdy, you know dirty pretty good.

Also never underestimate plant life. Please forgive me putting this rubbish here but in the vain a picture says a thousand words......


Also think about street lamps adding variety.

It looks amazing as it is already bud, and to be honest must remember its a playing surface not a dio, so ignore me by all means.

Started doing some more dirtying up and added some rough road markings to give it a bit of Ooomph

used some powders and washed and brushed them in areas, it's starting to come together now, I also dry brushed some metal onto the grates and such, looks like a pretty bad neighborhood I for one wouldn't buy here......

Looks great Damo. The leaflets, the lines on the roads, the slight variation in tone between the streets and the building slabs. All adds up to a wonderful effect!

Looks great, even more so with some terrain on it!

Very nice Damo, have you considered some street furniture? Fire hydrants , vending machines , street lamps etc etc ?

I have a bunch of street lamps I'm going to paint up from the CoD box so they'll be scatter type terrain, and I'm then going to work on some buildings and terrain to get that all done ready for gaming!

it seems that since the decision was made to part ways with my FleshEaters my blood is running a shade of green again....... I can feel the need to paint Ork Boyz tugging strongly, since I finally got them on a shelf all together and I see them as a force I love them crazy fools! :-)

and any ideas for Imperial Fists i'd love too please! how to get a distinct feel and flavor to them, any models I can convert that are different or would look cool

Have you considered a IF 30k force? They usually are playable in 40k too, and you can get some fun, fluffy units in there.

Not sure if this is a fuzzy memory gone wrong, but back in the day many years ago, playing Epic, my friend (yes I used to have them) Had a vast SM army. Blood Angels where always assault based and Imperial Fist where always Devastator based, so as a theme make them a long range shoot bunch, just a thought! You know bunch of Scout snipers, Units of Devs and Predators all Lasgun'd to the hilt.

It looks great. All those posters and propaganda flyers are a great touch I also really like the way you used colour on this board.

Breaches yes, with other siege style forces. Their assaulty stuff comes from Templar brothern which gets some nice blacks in with the yellows.

O.k then lets start small and begin by getting some FW IF models next time you get some stuff and i'll shoot you some coins or you could just give me some as a pressie

Hello good people! I have nearly got my new improved Nerd lair's (yes that's right Lair's plural!) done, just some more organising and shifting around of bits and bobs and they'll be good to go again for my painting room I got a new painting desk that has a sweet inbuilt drawer to store all my often used tools so they're not cluttering my work space, it's also a bit smaller and higher which is nice to work on

Also got a new desk lamp from China that's actually pretty damn nice bolts onto the side and has a swinging arm and white light that you can adjust the brightness of also helps with the wip photo's like the next project on my desk 32 Ork Boyz each one with some kind of conversion with head, arm & torso swaps!











Now the next work space is my gaming table and terrain cave I moved my old desk out there with the help of 'Betty, She-Hulk-NerdWench' and along with my old shelves made a nice little area where I can store all my gaming stuff for playing (if I ever play....) and work on terrain buildings and messier projects

I did a little more on the table so its nearly done, just one area I need input on I know it all sort of looks the same but trust me guys I've done...stuff

Thanks para, Orks will be done soon but not quite that soon I know it's a stretch but I had to give them all a little individual personality to keep me interested over the many many i'd be painting
