WM.. You have to have an actual built Warlord to do that! What makes you think you'll have that finished..

Sounds like the Titan and reinforcements were the only thing that made it even close.

I do own another Titan you know. It's finished and everything.

IMO It should not have been. Our strategy was limited as the defender. Mainly to slow down and deplete the attacking forces ability to get to and through the wall. In the game I think they should of had a more powerful push in the beginning rather than try to slowly wear us down. Secondly was failure to keep secure their biggest threat.. the Titan. We dropped a lot of guys around it making it only a matter of time before we took it out, I think ideally if they forced us to defend a breach ( as in the last turn) instead of us the option to Sallie forth in to their rear objectives it might have gone differently. The Titan weapons could have cleared that breach of defenders in a turn.

In essence ( and my experience ) controlling the fight is key to victory oh.... and not letting me roll dice.

Oh well next year!

How time passes on... Been unable to get to anything due to work and farm and work; but in the last two days I've bee trying to jump start myself by assembling my 4 Imperial knights, 2 of them the Original and 2 the new kit. I've Magnetized all the weapon options and had to fix some poor assembly on my part, but they are all together. I've base coated the frames and started detailing one one of them with brass and gold bits areas. I should be able to field at least 2 of any versions and 4 of the original 2 types. I'd like to pick up some more additional carapace weapon systems to make it complete,

On then new toy side I got more HH bits and will be adding to my Alpha legion model count. I also picked up 2 Valkyries for my Sicons as I dislike the Tauroxs. Not sure how I'll load them out yet ans I only have the 2 squads of troops. I thought they be fun to add to my Marines to make for a different kind of game.

AND .. for the big news .. I got a Reaver titan. Was looking someday to get a warhound but a good opportunity dropped in my lap so I jumped. I haven't unpacked it fully yet and will probably only do so when I'm ready to tackle it. Another thing off my bucket list as well as wondering when and if it'll be ever used. At least I can put it in my will. Now who to leave it to?

Still a busy summer and progress will be slow but it re energizes me to keep plugging away.

Cheers.

Nice to hear you're still doing things SL. Should be a lot of good painting projects in sore. Looking forward to your knights and Alpha Legion. The reaver of course, goes without saying.

Should be fun to see the Reaver build. I was going to get one, but the Warlord got announced the same week, so that plan kind of fell apart. Eventually it'll happen, so I can have a complete family.

You need to provide me with some learnings. Initially building/glueing and magnitizing. I'll get to painting questions later.

Thanks Cam.. though the initial theme for the Reaver will be in the black and white of the Badab legions. The Warhound Ramos did for WM is the standard, though I'll paint it myself. Currently I don't believe the tyrant had any Titans on the Secessionist side.
We'll see when the time comes. Ive decided my Princeps will be Gaston Bonniville Dela Croix Though the Titan name will most likly come from the The Legio Crucius (Warmongers) Legion. Either Astramos Mortis Æternem or Primus Secutar.

Yeah I'd love to get it started. The Imperial knights are first. I'm itching to mix up my game list a bit. As for the amount of stuff to do ...it's over flowing with projects, I have a wall of stuff to work on and assemble. I'd actually like to get in more actual games. but the community here is small. I'll try to get a WIP pic so I don't bore everyone with just my ramblings.

My real life work has increased and it will be hit and miss. In the mean time you all can keep our close Dakka circle going!

I like to get a warlord. I love the Alt head on GW site. That fist looks cool but it makes the already impractical Titan even more so

The body looks amazing and those eyes! They just pop and look super realistic. I like the different Metallics used. Adds a lot of definition.

Thanks. I'll work on getting them all to this stage. I've more gold work to do on all of them. My main carapace colors will be Purple and White. For this one knight I got all the body done. It can either be armed with the Battle cannon or Thermal cannon.

In support of the Knights I'm putting together a couple of squads of Militarum Tempestus. A command squad and a 10 man Scion Squad, Both with Valkyries or Tauroxs. Build in progress.

More Metal work on the main chassis... doing 4 at the same time is a slow process. I'm hoping for a nice weekend. I'll try to get the armor primed and base color this weekend.

Looking at unpacking the Reaver as well.

I love your attention to detail with the Metallics, super cool, it adds so much. I've just recently started messing with different colors of metalics, which I blame you for
Your Knight really gave me some ideas and how good it looked.

yep. Both of them for sure.

 coolguyswhositathome wrote:

Nope they come that way. I'll get the recesses a bit darker with a wash and then highlight the red a bit brighter with some orange/ red mix.

I can bare that burden. I think it breaks up the model quite a bit. I have really learned a lot about washing and re-highlighting metallics with the knights. it was good to have a test model (the one I made for Cleansing Flame)

These I'm trying something different. The bottom will all be black so I'll have to do a bunch of dry brushing to pull out the lines.

I don't see to many Tempestus actually, so this is quite interesting for me! The red is very fitting to go with the bronze/gold of their armor(Very Khorne-like. Take that as you will), and the engines are well done! Keep it up compadre!

Hello there SL. I've been lurking here for a while and I just wanted to say I love your Lamenters. The Adepticon badab war missions looked like a lot of fun to play. The city fighting game with the huge buildings looked really interesting. It's not often you get huge buildings like that. So to me it looks like you need to actually set up fire lanes and kill zones not just the normal 40k game " run forward faster I want to hit them with my sword".

My friend and I are going to be making terrain soon for our 30k games. I've been thinking of making big buildings like that and I just want to know what you thought of them and the game.

Its nice to see you back and I can't wait to see what the knights look like

Yeah .. I don't have any red painted armies. I try to keep all my different army collections in a separate color. Yellow for the Lamenters, White for my Eldar, Rust for my orks and Black for my Necrons. So Red was available. Plus I like the red and gold look. Was tempted to do purple and gold but red won out. I wanted to add some different elements to my Marines so thought they'd be a good change as a allied force.

Thanks FGM.. My Lamenters are my main armie. Funny now looking back how much my painting has changed. You can only do that in big collections where you won't go back and re-paint cause there is too much to do. Adepticon is a great time. Lots of games of all types. The Badab was a great opportunity to actually field the chapter in the right setting with other chapters that took part. Good time.

I'm a more terrain kinda guy. I guess It's from getting destroyed by IG armies in my day and Tau in today's meta. Besides its a 3D game. having cool looking terrain makes it come to life. My personal terrain collection is growing though I rarely have folks to the house to play. But if they do, I'm ready!

I've just started an Alpha Legion Army for 30k. I love the rules and it seems to be much more balanced than 40k. Terrain can help define the narrative. So your games are not just and open field battle where 2 armies charge at each other. You have to plan strategy and make choices to active victory. . Be interested in what you come up with. Please share.

Knights will be a slow WIP. There is a lot of details I have to do on each one. Now if I only have some free time. Stay tuned and than for looking.

More to do. this is just the base red. I need to highlight the panels up a bit to bring out the lines. Got to do some more building on the 2nd one. Have to experiment on the black underside in order to vring out the lines .. Was thinking I should go with a grey then a silver drybrush. Hummm.

About Half way through the Knights frames. slow progress. All the Builds are done and Magnetized. It'll take a couple of days to un-glue my fingers.

More work on assembling the Valks, Engines on and Painted.

Second valk ready to be base painted.

Thanks. I went with Red as it's a color I don't have an army in yet and it Tempestus. So as Will Smith says in Men in Black " The best of the best of the best, Sir"

They are black underneath with a steel drybrush for definition. I'll definitely need to put some markings or transfers to make them look the part. Next up the cockpit and pilots, then on to the weapons ( all magnetized as well. )

Oddly I cannot find the cockpit glass for either of them. Cannot find a replacement on the intranet so I may have to get some clear plastic and build my own. ~sigh~

Though I have all these projects on the table now I'm itchin to get to the titan. Unfortunately off to War next week/Weekend so .. not much progress. Head bashing yes, Painting no.

Finished the first Valkyrie ( with the exception of the canopy as I'm missing the glass.) Also the first of the Imperial knights is almost complete. I still need do a bit more shading and then glue it all together. Had to finish the first one to insure the Theme looked right. I still need to do the base to match my board.
I haven't had any chance to take any pictures since I just got back from War.

Started Cleaning my Reaver Titan. Mold lines and resin washing. This will take some time as there is quite a lot of bits and parts. Waiting on advice from Ramos on how to best make the weapons interchangeable. I have the melta and Volcano cannon on order. I already have the 2 standard Laser arms as well as the carapace missile launcher. I'll probably not get back to this till the fall. Next on the list is to finish the Knights and my 2nd Valkyrie and Tempestus force.

Tonight I have a game with Gits. I brought Necrons as I wanted to try them out against his Demons. To my surprise he brought Orks. I'll get some pics of interesting events.

Good game last night.. My necrons vs Gits Orks.. I got stomped. He played to my weakness and rushed me then crushed me. Two weeks from now he gets to play Yellowbeard. Hopefully he can provide a challenge.
