Yep, these are space Germans. They didn't have ninjas (they weren't even allowed to borrow any you know when), ergo they need to be posed in a more regimented fashion. Unless they're dual wielding SMGs - the chef must have boiled his sauerkraut too long, that guy was *really* angry.

Ok, I vote that Mark's next Kickstarter is not for Shadokesh, but for an army of leaping space ninjas.

I second the motion.

Again, going back to older topics, but wouldn't it make sense to, maybe, explore the avenue of, if there is a second KS, offering a less in depth look at a single faction, but offering more factions?

Fixed that for you, and no, no comparison. If mark doesn't have the rules sorted out yet I say he should call Rick priestly and have him come up with the rules system. I have enjoyed many of ricks games and their mechanics over the years.

As to the next faction, definitely a fully fleshed out shadokesh, or at least as full as the Eisenkern, so there would be at least two factions to play the game. Lets not be GW and develope five armies with only half or quarter of the range produced over the next five years. Maybe what you did with the last KS by having a limited edition preview figure for the space Russians or whoever is next after that.

I honestly think no one will care about you wandering over to the vendor area without registering (the flea market will be in the other smaller room). Seriously just walk into the hotel, hang a right immediately. When you get to the big room, WGF is back at the left. Bring a napkin for your drool.

Any word on what diameter the base that comes with the leviathan is?

Mark responded in another thread to my same question. It is 160mm. I've looked at other base manufacturers and have not seen anything close to that size in a rounded edge base in any resins. Guess I will have to try my hand at basing again. But it's still good enough of a size to fit lots of dead space marines on

It's 160mm, it's pretty goddamn big in person (over 6" in diameter).

Thanks guys.

My plan is to use the Mortis (with some conversion) as a Cryx colossal for warmachine. If the hips can be repositioned, I should be able to get the feet to just fit on the 120mm base I'd need to use.

If you go to the dreamforge-games.blogspot.com site I believe a week or so ago (jan 11th) he posted the pics of the new assembly instructions. You should be able to tell if you can get the feet on a smaller base. If not, just do the base like on his mortis picture doing the stomp on a smaller war machine to help fit it on the base.

Edited for correct page and date.

Thanks! Looks like ball and socket for the hips, so it'll be able to get both feet within a 120mm circle without any modification. It'll still be a tight fit, so I may end up making it striding or stomping like you suggested.

pre-orders are up at the warstore

And the prices are about where I expected them. $22 for a basic squad (MSRP) versus the competitors $29 (MSRP) makes them a very good deal for much better looking troopers.

I can't wait for my Leviathan to arrive, and will definitely be ordering some troops to accompany him (ah the lack of funds at KS time).

More than that I can't wait for future products from Mark.

Yep, you will get a tracking number the day your order goes out.

I'd be up for this, getting a couple core units for several factions out at the same time would generate a lot of interest, especially if the Iron Core rules get run up soon.

Trying to decide what type of warmachine in a frozen waste land hell one of my Leviathans is going to be curb checking. Hmmmmm.

Speaking of the giant bases though, any one looking into transport options for these monsters? I was thinking the thick battlefoam custom pluck with a top half and a bottom half, and possibly a separate tray for arms...

I feel really sorry for Mark in this area. If he releases as you suggest, a couple of core units for several factions, he lays himself open for crtiicism that the Eisernkern are his version of "Spess Mahreens" and they get all the love and the shadowkesh and others don't get forces that can field anywhere near as much. If he releases the Shadowkesh next, he'll get whined at that people were waiting on other factions and are being 'forced' to buy a faction they didn't want in order to play or wait 'ages' until their preferred faction comes out.

I hope Mark sticks to whatever plan he already had and gets to see that the people who have already backed him will see him through. Although I would prefer that he keep the releases to a single faction as that is, along with the amazing quality of his models, what will distinguish him more from GW. The only other way to have done it, in my mind at least, would have been to have had the first KS as the core troops from several factions, the second as the Leviathans and tanks from those factions. This didn't happen (Probably for the better. If the first KS had only been troops, would there have been a chance for a second? Not as much as with the Leviathans being released in the first, I'll wager!) and I think the best way forward would be to stick to single faction releases. (Despite the fact that I would probably prefer a faction other than the Shadowkesh for my next buy-in. I'll have to wait for more information - either on what the Shadowkesh can field, or on what faction will come after them.)

Before then, though, I'll probably put in another order for a 28mm Mortis, a command squad, some other specialists, and more transports to finish a well rounded Eisernkern force just to keep the money coming in for Mark.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Heavy weapons storm troopers and APCs for me in the near future. I skipped the heavy weapons since I thought they weren't a bargain... but they look so damn awesome I'll have to pick up a few at least. The command squad I'm not so sure is necessary - didn't look like it had much over the standard troopers, especially with the accessory sprues and was far less cost effective. Those APCs are damn sweet aren't they, I just couldn't justify it with 4 leviathans at the time. Now I can ; )

Hard to say what's the best course for Mark - or for us. I'd probably pick up some units of each faction, but I'd prefer a full release like we had with Eisenkern.

I had to trim my pledge for this KS down due to other incidents, but will hopefully be supporting the Eisenkern faction for quite some time. I've never been a fan of aliens, tried eldar, orks, nids, and dark eldar. I just couldn't get into them. Besides my German ancestors is calling. Whatever mark designs I'll still wind up buying during the KS. I just hope h gives us a little time after this first wave hits before the next KS begins.

Time will be a factor. Rules need to come out after Wave 3, so these aren't seen only as proxies for other games, and other factions.

What if he went half and half? Say one big beasty, a vehicle and 2 core infantry choices for 2 factions?

Shadokesh:
1) foot soldiers of hard hitting ranged doom (tm)
2) more ferals and handler as savage CC packs
3) some light skimmer that has many support weapon options
4) a leviathan sized quad or hexa-robot.

Russians (in spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace):
1) grizzled foot soldiers complete with dog packs (two units in one box)
2) light artillery support
3) light tank or scouting tracked/half-track/walker
4) BAMF MBT

KS exclusives as stretch goals:
1) some mercenaries/independent corsairs
2) religious faction emissary/brethren.

Can you tell it's been a while I read the fluff?

Waddya think of this?

A bit like what Privateer Press did with Warmachine in the beginning, One caster, One Warjack and a few grunts for each factions.

And has we can see, it did work for Warmachine.
