What if he went half and half? Say one big beasty, a vehicle and 2 core infantry choices for 2 factions?

Shadokesh:
1) foot soldiers of hard hitting ranged doom (tm)
2) more ferals and handler as savage CC packs
3) some light skimmer that has many support weapon options
4) a leviathan sized quad or hexa-robot.

Russians (in spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace):
1) grizzled foot soldiers complete with dog packs (two units in one box)
2) light artillery support
3) light tank or scouting tracked/half-track/walker
4) BAMF MBT

KS exclusives as stretch goals:
1) some mercenaries/independent corsairs
2) religious faction emissary/brethren.

Can you tell it's been a while I read the fluff?

Waddya think of this?

I for one welcome our new Shadokesh overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a regular poster on Dakka, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

In all seriousness though, I think you've got a good idea here Mathieu. Ultimately it'll be up to Mark to figure out what he wants to do, or thinks will sell, etc. I think maybe a good place to start in discussing a future KS would be to ask Mark himself how many units he thinks he can design for one single KS project. From there we could discuss if we as customers would like to see a broad range or a narrow range with depth.

So Mark, what do you think? It seems like the KS ended up including more stuff than you first expected, but how much do you think a future one might include? And do you have any thoughts on the single faction vs. multiple faction KS?

Thanks as always!

In a perfect world, I like it.

In a world where Mark has to deal with the limitations of being a mortal human, I would prefer his next KS focus on the Shadokesh with a teaser unit of Russians (similar to how this one went with the Shadokesh) if that list isn't feasible for him. My reasoning being that Space Germans vs. Space Russians would bring out people jeering about the game system just being "WW2 in space" instead of sci-fi.

Plus with the Shadokesh filled out, the initial rules could be built around an Eisenkern vs. Shadowkesh skirmish on one of their border worlds (yes, I'm enough of a nerd that I checked to see that they do overlap their borders). This would serve as a good backdrop a la the GW-style starters. Not that he needs to build a box set, but then it would all tidy up neatly. The Protectorate (i.e. - Space Russians), on the other hand, is on the opposite side of the map from both.

It's fun to play "what-if" until the creator comes along with his "reality" and "practical limits".

Or start it with one faction, like I did, start with only one infantry and one big robot available. Then stretch into another faction's infantry set, then big robot, then another faction's infantry set and big robot... to eventually get further stretches going back to the first faction, then the second, and then third... wash rinse and repeat.

Extra weapon arms/legs/pseudopods/platforms can come later, I think.

Mark... do you know, overall, how many extra arms were ordered compared to how many leviathan sets? Not exact figures, but on a one for one basis, maybe just a general ratio?

My guess is the better the stuff sells outside of KS the faster, bigger and better Mark will be able to go with the next phase of his game universe

so as soon as the product hits the shops start spending!

I don't think that will be much of a problem!

I have been saving up Paypal $$ precisely for this purpose. And since The Warstore, my favorite online retailer, is accepting pre-orders, that bodes well for everybody.

I'm really interested in seeing how well this does on shops such as The Warstore, and what that will mean for DreamForge's future. Time to put our "DremForge is awesome/GW sucks" money where our internet mouths are!

Can I get an exemption? I just reviewed how much I spent on the KS; it's amazing how six months or so will make you forget about obscenely large numbers...

I'll need at least one more box of infantry, 2 sets of the ladies, and 2 more boxes of heavy weapons. And there is no way I will be basing those on 25mm bases.

The kickstarter shadokesh did look really good. I read about them a few days ago on the iron core site, they had a pretty interesting thing going.

Speaking of which, is the faction summary on the iron core page about the extent of the background for the setting, or is there more to consume?

Sad German panda has not received any email yet :(

Probably a good thing as inventory and valentines day are coming up next week.

Anybody know a good, simple to use and clean airbrush system that will still allow me to support mark more. I need to take the plunge.

Mine is finnicky as hell, and it's not top load, but for base coats it's adequate. For camo on tanks as well. It's a Paasche VL0209. But is was relatively inexpensive. The compressor was expensive though... around 140$

I got the "stealth" model. Which is weird because it is a burnished gold colour. But it runs relatively silently. That set me back almost 400$

I have heard the iwata series are pretty good, and they have them at the local hobby lobby. The have a weekly 40% off coupon which would make it reasonable.

Dont want to derail the thread, so if anyone has suggestions pm me please.

Checking email every few minutes for my confirmation. The waiting hurts.

Think about the rest of us in the whole wide world... and the wait becomes even worse.

No offence, CommanderCain, but you're on PEI, if you get your box before me, I will be seriously mystified as YUL is literally less than 20km from my place.

I accept your challenge.
