Hi, I am joining this site because I would like some opinions. First let me say that if your thing is competitive gaming please do not comment. I have been playing tabletop for over a year and a half now as my friends have gotten me into it. I first started out with Warmachine, then Warhammer and now for the last 8 months I have been playing warhammer 40k. I am am not into the lingo that many people use nor do I appreciate it. I usually play Necrons because I like their theme (Cryx, Tombkings, etc. you see where I am going with this). I have been noticing the a lot of people that make a list play with as many annihilation barges/night scythes as they can. I would like advice on how to make a well rounded list, but you see: I do not like spam armies. Seeing the same unit/vehicle over and over is just awful and boring. What is the point of all these choices for your army list if no body uses them? The lists that I usually see are usually for tournaments, which I never/will never play. I like to play as much as I can and when I do it is with random people that I hit up that want to play or my friends where they would also team match with me. I get that people want to win but to me the entire point of a GAME is to have fun, and hang out with other poeple who enjoy the game. Lately I see that it has all become about winning, that is not fun. Now if that is all that matters then I feel sorry for you. I can see where by playing objectives that you might be inclined to take more transports, but other than that there really is no excuse for spamming, especially on a standard 2000 point game. Other than if your army only has one troop choice/heavy choice etc. then I realize that you have no choice in the matter and must use more than one of that choice. So if anyone would be willing to give advice on how to put together a non-spamming army for Necrons that would be much appreciated. Or if you are in the area hit me up! I would love to play a game.

There is not this idea.

I can't say much to help with Necrons (never played em), but take comfort! There are still plenty of non-competitive players out there. I love variety in my armies, and I've got no problem losing when it's a fun ride getting there. The one other guy I play games with is the same, pretty much.

So welcome!

Hey welcome to Dakka! As long as you have a solid core of warriors and a Lord with resurrection orb you should be able to take whatever else you like and still have a decent army. Personally I like wraiths.

I play mostly orks and recently have been finding myself on the wrong end of pulse rifles, a few games later I had adjusted my tactics, tweaked my army list slightly, now most games I can happily smash Tau gunlines to dust. Play smart and you won't have to worry about fancy army lists

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Hey hows it going, welcome to DAKKA!

The wolves go for the throat.
We go for the eyes.
Then the tongue.
Then the hands.
Then the feet
Then we skin the crippled remains.
