Greetings

I am a Fairly new player and I just did my first tournament with my Dark Eldar . I didn't do very well in fact I almost got tabled on all the games I played, But I had a great time! And I want to play some more tournaments just not with my DE (I don't blame the losses on my army it was mostly misplays on my part)
What I am looking for is a low model count army that can stand its ground to most competitive lists I know that five knight titans fits that bill the best but they are a couple of hundred Euros off my budget.

I can't run unbound and most tourneys here are weird about formations (but alternate FOC is ok) and optimally the new army would have a lot of terminators, the army that I am looking at the moment is Gk with space marine allies to cover the anti tank

Other than that I am open to any suggestions

Don't play GK, although they are a good army, as they have started to get a bad image for themselves due to dreadknight spam, just like Tau had in 6th for Riptide spam, and Eldar do for Wave Serpent spam. Therefore by playing GK, you will give off a bad impression but if you don't mind, go ahead. Its just a warning from a Tau player who hates all of the Tau hate around

If you want Terminators, maybe go CSM. If you go Nurgle, you actually get tough Terminators

Plus that allows you to have Daemon allies and loads of other cool gak.

How about a vanilla space marines? If you want allies, dark angels are cheap.

Dark Angels and Grey Knights have Terminator Troop choices, Nurgle Chaos has the amazing looking Cataphractii (might be mispelt) armor of Typhus and other Forge World Terminators that just leave a massive impression on the tabletop. Using it as standard 40k rules instead of the 30k means no bonus for the special pattern but visually it's a big improvement.

If you're getting tabled with Dark Eldar though, then I would suggest vanilla Space Marines that can really let you find your niche in the tactical part of the game. Gives you options to find how you like to play, how you're good at playing and can change and grow with you as a player.

Also, have you considered turning your Dark Eldar into allies of normal Eldar? Something with a bit more survivability but keeping your current models as well.

Grey Knights is good. the person who said you'd get a bad reputation because of "dreadknight spam" is quite frankly wrong. most GK forces are going to have 2 DKs tops. and thats' FAR from spam.

sides dreadknights aren't unkillable monsters anyway

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I was thinking 2 dreadknights a couple of termie squads and an incinerator squad on a stormraven lead by a librarian allied with a centurion squad with lasscanons some scouts and a librarian termi leading them

So no crazy dreadknight spam there, the only thing that worries me is the lack of stormshields because I will be deepstriking the gk and going for a heavy alpha strike

Also keep in mind that I will be using this list in tournaments and keep using my deldar for my regular games

Cool, so you're down with going against two Riptides? Where I'm from that'd be considered 'spam'.

The problem with gk is that they're monobuild. If you tell: "I'm a gk player" it's a 95% probability that your list is an aplha-strike one with librarian, dreadknights, purifiers, Draigo and termies as troops.

Exactly! Just like I said earlier, they are building a bad reputation for themselves as all GK lists are the same! Once you play once, you don't want to play again as the games are so dull.

Definitely dark angels. Terminators as troops means low model count (so do bikes as troops, for that matter, which they can also do), and because they're in Dark Vengeance, the models are SUPER cheap from ebay.

As far of ease of winning, I can't say. Probably not the easiest out there. To be fair, though, if you just want to rack up wins then what's going to do that the easiest will change (possibly quickly) over time. By the time you get them painted up, it will likely already be passe.

If you want a troop terminator choice, DA is not the way.

They just cost TOO much points per models, and not very good.

You want GK terminator force, at least they are good for their price.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Well considering you want an Elite army, Space Marines are going to be the number one choice.

SW and GK are fine armies to collect, although you may get some hate for spamming Dreadknights. Space Marines themselves are also good and a variety of chapter tactics give you plenty of options to build the sort of army you want. I'd argue White Scars are the best SM chapter out there.

If you're looking for more Xenos, Necrons and Eldar are likely going to be your best bet. Necrons are very durable but if you collect them, wait until the new Codex drops. Eldar are very elitist, each unit has a specific role to perform and it the top Codex. No matter what people say, have some Wave Serpents in your army as it is the only DT to my mind. Just don't spam them if you want some friends

GK all the way. DA are a blast, but really struggle at the competitive level, especially if you are playing an all Deathwing (termie) army. GK although lower in model count, have a little bit more versatility and I think are stronger for what level of competition you are playing

GK are an effective monobuild army. You only got 1 trick and not much variety but they're doing the job. Good for allies.

But if you value tactical flexibility, GK ain't really good at it. Just cause their gameplay is dictated by dominating models: NDK, Draigo, Librarians, Purifiers, terminators with psycannons to fulfill troop requirements. Can have some pallies. And that's basically it. They were not designed to have lots of tactical flexibility like sm or orks, for example.

Too many Space Marine armies. Try Chaos! The possibilities are endless. >

I like the combined Eldar/Dark Eldar idea as it lets you easily use the models you already have. >
