Subject: Battle Brothers Video Battle Report #5 - 1850 New Dark Eldar vs. Tyranids
Hey everyone, I've got another battle report to share with y'all. This is the second game against my friend Jack and his Dark Eldar. He brought the same experimental Dark Eldar list to test out some units and formations in the new book. I brought my Nidz list. In the past Jack has done pretty well against my bugs (damn those poisoned attacks), so I was looking forward to the challenge. Check it out, I hope you enjoy watching.
Great batrep. In regards to the scalpel formation and its d3 VP's I would say it definitely should work. As he noted the formation does next to nothing otherwise, the whole point of the formation is to DS T1 and go for FB and an early lead on secondaries.
Only rules mistake I spotted was you mentioned running a swooping flyrant to change it's arc and I believe you are only allowed to run a swooping FMC in a straight line from where it is already facing.
Hope you fellas do more of these!
Thanks!

Ah! good call on running with the FMCs, you are right. In regard to the scalpel formation, I think it should reward VPs but only towards one of the missions. The total number of available points should remain the same.
I really like the FLG batreps and modeled my own after your team's videos. I'm sure you noticed some similarities
I noticed that! I am a bit biased to that format haha <3 nicely done dude. Looking forward to more. I want to see a rematch with a tested/refined DE list vs your nids. Poison is really tough and their new access to seriously decent assault/AA makes them a solid list.
Frankie is running 7 venoms, 6 ravagers, 3 nightwings and the regular assortment of minimalist troops.

The first word that comes to mind is Withering. Damn. When can we expect to see that list in action?

Oof. Definitely plenty of poison in that list. I'm looking forward to Jack sprucing up his list so we can get more games in. There aren't a lot of DE players in my area unfortunately.
Great report, thanks for posting! That Talos deathstar is quite fierce for sure! Did the malanthrope's PE bubble and poison 2+ come into play at all? I bet that wych squad that tied up the carnifexes could have died a turn or so sooner if one of the malanthropes charged it as soon as the fexes got tied up.
Either way thanks again and I look forward to seeing more reps.
Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

The PE bubble wasn't that helpful because by the time I had it everything was either dead or tied up in combat. The 2+ poison was money though. The Malanthrope stripped the last few wounds off one of the talos/cronos models. Yeah your probably right about those wyches. The fexes have so few attacks and with that dodge save the wyches have in CC they were pretty resilient.
I'm not sure if you're aware based on the wording of your last post, but preferred enemy works in melee and shooting both. I understand the 4++ dodge makes it hard to get out of a wych tarpit but re-rolling 1's certainly helps.
Anyhow great showing and I am waiting to see the rematch.

Yes , I know . I think my thought was that they were tied up and too far away to benefit from PE. I checked the video and it looks like the malanthropes were nice and close to the fexes, so memory lapse on my part. I'm hoping I can get Jack to come play again in the next few weeks. It's about a 2 hour drive though, so we'll see.
