The model with a pistol can use the pistol's profile for one mellee attack.

How would it affect the game? Will it make plazma/melta/grav pistols too powerful? Will it make them reasonable?

exchanging all attacks for a single pistol attack would work. you'd only do it for fancy pistols like plasmas, but getting an
ap2 attack in before I1 is pretty good.

You'd have to roll to hit like melee though, with WS, because the opponents skill could be used to turn the gun away. and of course, gets hot would still have to apply.

Between Alpha and Omega, and a little to the left

Does the pistol shot replace the normal attacks or is it in addition to? and does it use WS or BS?

It wouldn't be that big of a deal with normal pistols, making it a slight boost in some situations, but I don't think it would be too powerful with plasma pistols and similar. Not game breaking, but think of this way: A plasma pistol costs the same as a power weapon, but while the power weapon makes ALL of your attack AP3, the pistol is more useful in general, being able to damage something at range , in overwatch, and in most cases you only need the one hit to kill what you're fighting (and that one shot will have a better chance of killing something vs the power weapon)

It should also be pointed out that most armies don't have pistols like that, and it would be Imperials that would get the most out of it

It would make being able to take a upgrade pistol actually worth it.

1) 2 attacks with a no AP chainsword or whatever
2) 1 shot with a pistol, with whatever BASE attacks you had to start with.

If the model chooses to use a pistol in cc, it doesn't get the bonus attack from 2 ccw this round.

This still might invalidate stuff like power swords cause who'd use power swords when you can get a plazma pistol for the same price... Don't know - got to think bout it.

I just want to make stuff like plazma pistols and melta ones worth their points. Maybe they'd need a point increase if they were usable in mellee.

Na it's a trade-off

1 AP1/2 attack or 2+ AP3 attacks

Hi folks.
I had the idea that pistols equipped could shoot at models further than 2" away in the same combat.

EG Models in base to base or within 2" fight with CC attacks as normal.Models further away than 2" can shoot into their close combat melee with pistols.
As they are close enough to distinguish friend from foe.

This keeps it cleaner IMO.

What about models with two pistols? One attack with each?

I don't see why not... I mean with flame pistols this would become very strong, but I still see... why not.

Presumably hand flamers would just be S3 AP6. It's when you start using plasma and inferno pistols (or bolt pistols on humans) that this starts to be worthwhile.

I dunno I was thinking Hand flamers would have the Wall of Death rule.

A D3 number of hits to represent the flamethrower aspect of them.

And demo charges as close combat weapons should be resolved as usual, including Blast?

Of course but centered on the model carrying it!

Hand Flamers do have Wall of Death, but that's an overwatch thing, not a CC thing.

Yep, i had just a single attack in mind. Something closer to Death Or Glory but hitting on WS and without an insta-dead if failed.

I think they should be used like grenades. You swap all attacks for one. If you a have pistol with the gets hot rule all models in base contact, with the model holding it should have to take an armour save, as if a frag greande as gone off in their hand.
