yeah the League of Rhordia is nowhere near being an Empire analogue... I'm not even sure what it's supposed to be an analogue of, actually.

It is their "what you talkin bout GWillis" for if GW comes a knocking they can go. We released Rhordia at the same time we did this round of list what one of your armys is that ripping off.

Now I think I will finish the last couple Skaven boxes now that I have a reason.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

I don't think it's meant to be an analogue of anything, I think it's just meant to be an army that will let people use halfling minis, and an assortment of human units, some of which can be sourced from Empire armies, and have a feel somewhere between a standard human army and a dwarf army.

Ugh... is it just me, or do the Age of Sigmar previews seem like the nicest thing that GW could do for Kings of War?

Really looking forward to whatever other armies the good folks at Mantic convert - because it does not look like Warhammer will be the place to play them, anymore.

The Auld Grump.. no... points... values...?!

Annoyingly they couldn't have waited another week or two where we might have had a nicely formatted PDF of the finalised 2nd ed rules...

We can use the Sigmarites to replace the awful Basilean miniatures! It's a win!

Thanks for the thread. I'll be another refugee joining the fold...

Do hordes really have to be 10x4? I have all these handmade steel 8x5 trays, and a lot of magnetic greenskins...

Edit: wrong thread...

It's kind of the "other half" of the Empire. To play "Empire" just ally KoM with LoR.

Not yet I'm afraid - once the fluff is approved we can work on developing the list for playtesting. But I might well have lots of rewriting of the background to do first.

I heard Ebay is awash in WHFB armies... have not looked.

GW must be giddy that everyone is selling off their old stuff to buy new AoS stuff.

Days might be pushing it too. I've got a call on Thursday evening with the lead editor to go through his feedback on the background for all the lists so far and as it looks right now, I might have a fair bit of work to do.

Do you have an ETA on not-WoC?

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Not on any of them at the moment I'm afraid. Until the fluff is approved, there's no point putting lists out until that's confirmed in case we have to change them for some reason. We are not talking months though. I hope to resolve all the background in the next week or so. It takes my evenings and weekends though (i.e. my spare time).

Awesome, thanks Matt. Can you confirm or deny the inclusion of something resembling Marks?

They'll be evil humans but the IP isn't being copy pasted across for obvious reasons. They will be an evil human army that fits Mantic IP and KoW.

Rhordia kind of reminds me of the old Empire armies from the late 90's, with Ogres and Halflings and the like. The old days of Hot Pot catapults.

My first thought was Lord of the Rings...but there are no "halfling" troops...

I can still remember when a box of 30 Space Marines was $30.00. Now THAT'S old school! In fact, I started playing in the Rogue Trader days...yes, I am that old. Played Warhammer Fantasy for years before Rogue Trader even came out...

6,800 Pts. Ultramarines, 1,500 Pts. Deathwatch, 1,000 Pts. Black Templars, 1,000 Pts. Blood Ravens, 1,000 Pts. Emperors Children, 2,000 Pts. Word Bearers, 3,500 Pts. Eldar (Alaitoc or Biel-tan), 2,000 Pts. Tau, 2,000 Pts. Sisters of Battle, 999 Pts. of Thousand Sons, 1,000 Points Dark Eldar, 1,000 Points Adeptus Arbites, 1,000 Points Freebooters, 1,000 Points "Last Chancers", 1,000 Points Tyranids, 1,000 Points Necrons

2,500 Pts. Brotherhood, 2,000 Pts. Undead, 2,000 Pts. Sylvan Kin Elves, 2,000 Pts. Empire of Dust, 3,000 Pts. Orcs with Goblin Allies

5 Necromunda Gangs, 10 Mordheim Warbands, and 5 Frostgrave warbands

Rhordia is Empire as it was in the 1990s + new 8th edition units (Demigryphs, Hurricanum...)

Kingdoms of Men is Empire as it was around 6th edition.

Empire from 3rd thru 6th was essentially unchanged other than sculpts.

Unless League of Rhordia is supposed to also have Imperial Dwarfs and it was left off?

Sixth Edition Empire lost a decent amount: Halflings, Imperial Dwarves, Imperial Ogres, the War Wagon, the War Altar (which admittedly made a triumphant return), and Outriders (DITTO). Also, Foot Reiksguard (full plate sword and sheild) and Greatswords (light armor and Great weapon) merged into the modern Greatswords.

It was a pretty decent shake up.

Sure, and I've got about fifty pounds of lead Empire in a tremendous army collected from 4th thru 6th ed (and actually a little bit of the pre-4th redesign in there including stuff that went to Foundry eventually), but the point was that the statement "Rhordia is Empire as it was in the 1990s + new 8th edition units" doesn't seem to match reality.

Kingdoms of Men pretty much covers all editions of Empire up to but not including 8th with the exception of allied races (Halflings/Dwarves/Ogres/etc)
which is why Rhordia doesn't make much sense. Instead of using Kingdoms of Men plus Rhordia Allies to make 8th edition Empire, it should just be "additional units to Kingdoms of Men" versus a weird full army list.

I don't understand the salty-ness in this thread.

I actually like the League of Rhodia more than the Kingdoms of Men.

I got out my old Skaven army to ebay it so I could get my Abyssal Dwarves up to 2k... but then I realized it was 2/3 painted.

I looked through the Ratkin list and easily got to 2k.

I, uh.... really like the Ratkin list. I always liked Skaven as a concept, but disliked making their lists and disliked having so many random things.

I may end up holding onto my Skaven. Going to try and get a game with Ratkin this weekend. Should be fun.

Playing: Droids (Legion), Starks (ASOIAF), BB2
Working on: Starks (ASOIAF), Twilight Kin (KoW). Droids (Legion)
