Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is an Action-RPG that not only evokes the dystopian world of the dark and violent 41st millennium, but also becomes the next milestone in the evolution of Action-RPGs.
Building on the experience gained from The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing Action-RPG trilogy, NeocoreGames aims to expand the boundaries of the genre itself by taking the in-game mechanics and visual solutions to a brand new level and also by opening up a persistent sandboxed Action-RPG.
The single player campaign pitches players into a grim and secret war among the stars as the agents of the ever-vigilant Inquisition. After the end of the campaign the story continues in a colossal sandboxed game set in the same secluded sector of this vast universe. This persistent setting grants years of constant entertainment, gradual development and a continuous flow of content that enriches the Action-RPG gameplay.

I am sure its more akin to the likes of Diablo 3, that sort of playstyle.
I remember seeing an old gameplay video nearly a year ago and it looked pretty rough tbh, obviously looks very different now and graphics look veerryy nice. Love me some Diablo and love me some 40k, think its time to put this back on my radar.
I updated the topic. Now it is a topic about the game, not just a trailer.
I would like to share with you guys the latest news about W40K Inquisitor Martyr.
There's a rough similarity between all ARPGs. There are mechanical differences, Van Helsing I was really classic Diablo clone with a follower, Grim Down offers faster pacing with interesting class builds, Victor Vran ties skills on weapons. Inquisitor promises interesting cover/destroyable terrain mechanic. Could be really enjoyable to play. Darting from one cover to another and lobbing flashbangs or nastier things to destroy the opposition.

The last trailer looked really rough, but this looks much better. The destructible environments are really, really neat, and novel for this kind of game.
The object destruction looks silly. A shot hits and the crater just sort of pops in. It's unconvincing, especially when a few shots hit in quick succession. Needs a big puff of dust and some chunks flying off.

I think a lot of that is because this is still an alpha build. I think when it gets released it'll be a lot smoother.

Agreed

The Polito form is dead, insect. Are you afraid? What is it you fear? The end of your trivial existence?
When the history of my glory is written, your species shall only be a footnote to my magnificence.
Fellow Inquisitors: you have noticed that the placeholder sound effect in our previous video wasn’t worthy of the Emperor’s wrath. Now you get a chance to choose a better voice of purging: vote for the best sound effect for the Bolter: let us know in the comments about your choice!

How was it? Looks a lot like Diablo 3, not that that's bad. Was it fun? What's the release date on this?
Sketchfab is a site where developers can share their animated 3D models, so we decided to do so as well. We’re hard at work polishing Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr, but until the next iteration, there will be some interesting posts like this.

I got pretty excited for a second.
Might be nice to update the first post or thread title to avoid more disappointment.

While I think it is pretty clear by context, RPG often brings people to think about pen&paper games rather than a video game, regardless of the "Action-" in front of it.

Exactly that. I've never heard of an Action-RPG and why should I be expected to have on a tabletop wargaming forum.
The context really doesn't occur for a few posts, having never heard of NeocoreGames or the Van Helsing games I was sucked in for a fair while until I finally figured it out.
Possibly this is better suited to the dedicated Video Games subforum?

Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.
Oli: But it fits through the doors, Look!

We present you a featurette called Blood and Gore, which shows some of the physical capabilities of our updated engine (similarly to our destruction-themed video), and as its title says, it will be about carnage. Plain and simple. Not for the faint-hearted!
In Inquisitor – Martyr, you’ll be able to explore a whole Galactic sector in the Segmentum Tempestus, called the Caligari Sector. There are four major layers in this explorational mode, as you zoom in from the Caligari sector overview through subsectors to the smallest points of interests (such as planets, moons, etc.), and their surfaces where you select your mission.
