No, I had a second look at the adventure book and it appears quite thin - I can see the staples. It'd be a pity if they didn't include something like the Roleplay book like the original including linked campaigns as well as leveling up. Not to mention stats for every beastie they had at the time...

Major omission to the "new edition" of the game, if its not in there. I spent most of my WHQ reading time in that book alone and it + warrior packs were the source of the games gold.

What I really like is that these heroes are archetypes. That means it can be used to make your own hero with its own name and story. Same for the "monsters", they sound more like a generic entry for armies than unique characters.

Seems like the white dwarf will have some means to use even more heroes in it (it says it is described page 30).

The setting of this box is clearly the Silver Tower. I don't expect full rules to use others settings, since I'm pretty sure the tiles are very specifics.

I might have to fall off the cliff to buy this game just for the chaos champion alone.

figures look really good, though I'm not really digging the game itself. I have to think that these are some of GW's best works, aside from the skewered backstory and ... uh... interesting.... questlines.

I'd be so far as to take that chaos guy in, just to kill everyone else, and take their stuff, just to leave and come back with a whole bunch of new meat.. er companions and repeat the process.

Grudgingly, I'm honestly looking at a buy in to get the chaos guys......

It takes Blood for the Blood god to a whole new level.

Which means.... Expansions. whoohoo!!!

When we played Warhammer Quest, we ended up using who we wanted, with minor alterations, figures were easy to insert, if you did not go too overboard on stat padding.

Quest was versatile enough, as well, that you could use the expansion material and add in who you wanted. I distinctly remember using a Grot in one game. He ended up ganking a couple of the players and becoming the life of the party as people started rooting for him. ( I might have to try that one with one of these spiderbabies.)

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Agreed

Is the Mistweaver male or female - I cant quite tell from the pic? Same with the Shard?

I notice they say 'the miniatures will be compatible with regular games', plural, but presumably the Tzeentch beastmen, summoner, wizard guys and the heroes won't be compatible with 40k. What are the odds of 40k rules for the brimstone and blue horrors, and does anyone who can read French know if Ogroid is a demon?

No I hhink he's just an evil Sorcerer. He's an underling of the Gaunt Summoner leading his troops into battle.

Squinting really hard I think I see four legs and two arms as well on the little buggers. Interesting.

I've seen NOTHING on Atia's blog suggesting that, so...he's full of crap.

Because they're Skaven, you can see that pretty clearly without needing to squint.

I guess my squint-Fu is strong

I don't like the grot as goblins, I prefer the Brian Nelson gobbos with huge heads, but with skulls, human heads and some gribbly bits or lanterns to look like angler fish, yeah, they'd fit right in. One will walk on four hands instead of feet, of course.

A point raised on another board is that GW have licensed RPG stuff for Warhammer to Fantasy Flight for the near-term.

That would be the reason then. But I wonder if there will be any advancement opportunities post quest? Ideally fantasy flight would release a tie in roleplay book.

OMG spider gobbos

Yep Love the new GW direction and AoS and WHQ are just a clear examples on how to spice up the stagnant WFB.

My head is already thinking on converting some spider clan gobbos!

I dont think you need a proper RPG book, just a set of advanced rules for character levelling, travel, travelling to towns / taverns and randomally generating dungeons.

Campaign rules, as opposed to RPG rules. I don't think I've ever used the RPG rules in Quest, but the campaign rules? All the damned time. Those campaign rules are one of the reasons why my group says that Quest isn't fair (and we're fine with that). The "random town event" table and especially the "walk back to town" table are just brutal.

God yeah, it keeps me playing. Also, especially enjoy the sailing journey chart to Lustria from White Dwarf and the dodgy Captain with an eye patch you swear was on his other eye earlier!

There might be expansions, but the example set by Space Hulk and the other recent board games would suggest otherwise. Until I see otherwise, I'm assuming the game will be a single box, with the odd extra mission in White Dwarf on occasion.

I could see them doing something like the battletomes for adding existing figures in.

While I'd certainly like that stuff to be included with the game, it seems like it won't be.

I'm wondering if there will be any sort of out of dungeon progression or events available. Or purchasable gear.

Maybe they'll surprise us and have an add for such a book on the back of the rulebooks.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Is this game fully cooperative, or does someone play the bad guys? I guess it must be cooperative if the max number of player is 4, and we know the max group size is 4 heroes. But it also says the minimum number of players is 2, and if it were fully cooperative you could play solo.

IIRC WHQ had one DM and then the other players shared the adventurers, but it's been a looong time, so I may be wrong.

Those Horrors look fantastic. I love the aesthetic! Really excellent evolution on the current Horrors. That big Pink Horror is just amazing, and I love the little Brimstone Horrors.
