In the same way that all the Taghmata stuff is, a-la red book?

I've got the rules for them, and they do look reasonable (perhaps even UP), at 205pts a pop, when compared to the other robots, which I've been using in 40k anyway.
I know Perty sure as heck isn't, nor does it make sense. Not intending on doing his special body guard thing anyway.

Just querying, as I was discussing the Ferrums with my local shopkeep, and he slipped in a "maybe when they get rules for 40k", in a slightly quiter, almost "I don't really want you fielding them" kind of tone.
(Even though he's all fine and dandy with my Taghmata. I'm also the first one he's seen using them, so it's kind've a test atm for his opinion forging).

Might come down to the good ol' Opponent's Consent doo, which would be nice.

If it makes you feel better, the next Imperial Armour book is apparently adeptus mechanicus versus tau, and brings most of the battle automata into 40k....

Oh feth, yeah, I forgot about that! Silly fish...
I do have a stinking suspicion that the Domitar-based bots won't be in it, though. We'll see.

The Iron Circle really aren't that impressive in a 40K environment. You've already noticed the first drawback (205pts each), and you need at least two to gain the better invulnerable save. Their shooting isn't that impressive, and in close combat they're still 2 attacks base. A 3+ armor save means even regular guns can plink off a wound. Plus, the buggers are slow and can't be transported.

Basically, you take them because they're cool, not because they're actually good.

Poison and grav will do to them the same they do to all the other Mechanicum automata... Tear/sob. Better be good at rolling a pile of saves or lose that purrty Thanatar first turn (multiple bad memories).

The Domitar Ferrum are the Iron Warrior's unique unit, not Mechanicum. So I super wouldn't expect them to be in the next AI book.....

As other's have said, their not that amazing in the 40k environment. Grav-Centurions will drop them like any other MC for example. MC's and Walkers are generally more powerfull in the 30k meta, then 40k due to differences in how they balance the lists.

I'm glad there's at least one toy not being gift wrapped and handed over to the 40k crowd. I'd be less bitter if it went both ways.

I thought they were adding a lot more Horus Heresy stuff in the next Imperial Armour than Mechanicus stuff.

Yah the red scorpions are in it also, and looks like they are going to be getting loyalist dread-claws. abit annoying tbh. They will also be getting a special character leviathan dread, and maby the mastodon?

In all honesty, the OP's store owner sounds like he still has that mind set from 4th when FW stuff was OP. It hasn't for a long time, and people still seem to think the 30k lists are OP also.

A complete insane Thanatar is not that usefull. Because of the Plasma-mortar and movement.....

Those things are going to get worked in 40k by any decent army. As others have pointed out, they aren't exactly intimidating at 200+ points each with the stats they have and relative lack of mobility. My 200 points of scatter bikes could kill 3 of those a turn.
