Just finished my regiment of Black Knights for my Bretonnian themed Vampire Counts army. I have posted some in progress shots of them here before but now they are completely finished aside from adding some static grass. Seeing as how I am in western Africa for about the next 9 months I do not foresee that final step happening anytime soon. I have gone a different route with these going for a look of spirits trapped in old rusty suits of armor rather than having blood guts and bones sticking out. I really am trying to avoid the Vampire Counts gothic look, I just don't feel like anyone in the army would care enough to have the undead give up their perfectly good armor and shields and trade it in for something with bat wings and skulls on it. For that reason these guys may not scream undead at first but they should fit in rather nicely when surrounded by all the other dead guys.

I would love to get some comments and criticism, especially if anyone has any suggestions to improve them - it's all in the details.

Thanks

Trust no one! The minute God crapped out the third caveman, a conspiracy was hatched against one of them.

I really like these guys. You almost make me want to repaint my Brets...

I might add some skeletal hands reaching from their bases though, or guts, gravestones, or something "spooky." It looks like this may be an easy "conversion" that would enhance their "undead-ness." Otherwise, I'm inclined to agree they simply look like knights returning from a long Crusade of sorts. As you said, surrounded by skeletons may help these guys look undead, but on their own, I'm just not feeling it :S It is certainly NOT a knock on the painting job though, you did a fantastic job in that department

If they look like evil Bretonnians on their own I feel pretty good about them. When I plunk them in the middle of my skeletons and zombies I bet you will also start to wonder if they are not only evil... but undead as well.

Thanks for the feedback.
